Chapter 738: Strange Reports
Chapter 738: Strange Reports
After spending nearly an entire week indoors, Ivy finally reached her limit.
She grabbed a pillow and smacked Silas across the shoulder.
"You’ve been keeping me inside for days."
Silas looked completely innocent. "I was taking care of you."
"Oh? Place your hand on your heart and say that this care isn’t just about having sex 12 hours out of 24?
Ivy crossed her arms. "If you keep doing this, I’m going to throw you out of the apartment."
Silas immediately laughed. The sight of Ivy acting annoyed was strangely adorable to him.
"It’s my fault."
His smile softened. "We haven’t had much time together for a very long while."
His voice became gentler. "I just wanted to stay close to you."
Hearing that, Ivy could only sigh helplessly.
Then she pointed toward the door. "That’s enough."
A faint smile appeared on her face. "I’m tired of staying indoors."
She stretched her arms. "I want to go outside and get some fresh air."
Silas immediately nodded. "Sure."
His smile widened. "I’ll take you wherever you want to go."
With that, Silas quickly led Ivy toward the bathroom so they could get ready for the day.
Unfortunately, even during what was supposed to be a simple shower, Silas continued trying to get something extra.
By the time they finished, Ivy’s patience had completely run out.
She smacked his shoulder lightly and glared at him.
"One more time, Silas, and you’ll find out exactly what happens when I lose my temper."
Although her words sounded threatening, the faint redness on her cheeks made the threat far less convincing.
Silas merely laughed. A few minutes later, Ivy walked out of the apartment.
Asher happened to be passing by at that exact moment.
The moment he saw Ivy’s slightly irritated expression, a mischievous grin appeared on his face.
"What happened, Sister-in-law?"
His eyes sparkled with amusement.
"Are you angry because you couldn’t leave the apartment for an entire week?"
Ivy immediately turned toward him. A dangerous smile appeared on her face. "No."
Her voice was unusually sweet. "I’m angry because I suddenly realized you’re probably not going to at good food for next 2 weeks."
With that, she turned around and continued walking away.
Asher froze. The smile on his face completely disappeared. "What kind of attack was that?"
He clutched his chest dramatically. "That was unnecessarily vicious."
Just then, Silas walked out of the apartment. Seeing him, Asher immediately pointed toward Ivy’s retreating figure.
"Brother, you’re in deep trouble."
He shook his head seriously. "Sister-in-law is completely furious."
Silas, however, appeared perfectly relaxed. He understood Ivy far too well.
She was not truly angry. She was simply trying to make a point. Even so, his expression gradually softened.
Honestly, he had never imagined life could become this fulfilling.
There had been a time when simply standing beside Ivy had been enough to make him happy.
Now having a deeper taste of her... he could only ask for more.
Before he could restrain because he didn’t have taste but now... it was impossible.
Thinking about that, he hurried after her.
Ahead of him, Ivy slightly slowed her pace when she sensed his presence approaching.
However, the moment he caught up to her, she deliberately continued looking forward as though she were still annoyed.
The sight made several people nearby laugh quietly. To outsiders, they looked like an adorable couple having a harmless disagreement.
Many people in the base admired them. More importantly, everyone could see how genuine their feelings were.
Meanwhile, someone else was silently watching Ivy’s back. A trace of longing flashed across his eyes before he quickly looked away.
His name was Kai. If Ivy had turned around, she would have recognized him immediately.
Kai had been one of her classmates. The two of them had shared a surprisingly good friendship during their school years.
They often talked together. After the apocalypse, however, they lost all contact.
Kai never expected to arrive at the Silvy Base and discover that its owner was none other than Ivy.
His former crush. Back then, he had secretly believed he might have a chance someday.
After all, Ivy had rejected countless suitors. Who could have guessed that by the time he found her again, she was already married?
As Kai stood there lost in thought, Silas suddenly paused. His gaze landed directly on Kai.
For a brief moment, the two men looked at each other. Then Silas casually walked up beside Ivy and wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Let’s go eat something."
Ivy immediately brightened. "Let’s get pizza."
Silas frowned. "No."
"What do you mean, no?"
Ivy stared at him in disbelief.
Silas folded his arms. "Pizza isn’t exactly healthy."
He pointed toward another food stall.
"I know a vendor with excellent hygiene standards. The vegetables come directly from our agricultural sector. The food is nutritious. We’re eating there."
Ivy pouted dramatically. "You always act so domineering."
Silas laughed. "If I don’t, you’ll forget to take care of yourself."
He shook his head. "Did you forget what happened last time? You lost two hundred grams after spending days eating junk food."
Ivy rolled her eyes. "That’s only two hundred grams."
Silas immediately replied, "Only two hundred grams?"
He placed a hand over his chest. "I’ve worked for 20 days to raise that 200 grams. If you lose even one gram, I feel heartbroken."
Ivy burst into laughter. Soon, Silas joined her. At the same time, he glanced toward Kai one final time.
The message was subtle but obvious. Kai understood immediately.
There was no hostility. No threat. Simply a reminder that Ivy had already chosen her future.
Kai sighed softly and looked away.
Meanwhile, Ivy remained completely unaware of the silent exchange.
Life soon settled into a comfortable rhythm.
Every morning, Ivy and Silas ate breakfast together. During lunch, they investigated clues related to the superior beings.
During dinner, they discussed plans for the base, future projects, and upcoming threats.
Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. For nearly two months, they enjoyed a rare period of peace.
However, peace never lasted forever. One day, strange reports began appearing.
