Chapter 32 Dragon's Rest
Chapter 32 Dragon's Rest
boom--
A large tree was hurled out, blocking the eight-eyed giant spider's retreat. Two giants followed closely, picking up their spears and thrusting them forcefully.
The eight-eyed giant spider made an angry clicking sound and lunged forward despite its injuries, but the goblin who had been hiding in the tree was prepared and signaled the giants to retreat with a whistle.
A lone eight-eyed giant spider can be easily dealt with by a well-coordinated giant monster wielding a spear.
But they overlooked the fact that the giant eight-eyed spider is also adept at fighting in groups!
"Click—"
The unsettling clanging of chelicerae was rapidly approaching when another, even larger, eight-eyed giant spider burst out of the bushes like a dump truck, crashing into the giants. Its venomous fangs, gleaming with a cold light, were about to pierce into one of the giants' bodies.
blow!
The fierce wind made the eight-eyed giant spider pause in its movements. A green shadow fell like the Sword of Damocles, and the sharp dragon claw crushed the eight-eyed giant spider's exoskeleton. Only disgusting green slime gushed out from its head, making a "plop plop" sound.
Meanwhile, the battle against the giants finally came to an end.
After a great deal of effort, they managed to stab the spear into the brain of the eight-eyed giant spider. Looking at the giant spider, which was already dead under Poisson's claws, they all showed expressions of awe.
"Let's get out of here first."
Persson directed the giants to move the corpses from the hunting grounds to the Emerald Territory.
In order to enter adolescence as soon as possible, Persson changed his usual conservative approach and took the initiative to attack the Eight-Eyed Giant Spider's territory.
This is not a war; at best, it's a hunt. Persson will search the skies for lone eight-eyed giant spiders and then dispatch a squad of trolls to capture them.
They hit and ran, never lingering.
This can be considered as taking the guerrilla tactics of our ancestors to the extreme!
As for the results, they were significant. Under such relentless harassment, the expansion of the giant spider was curbed, and Persson sometimes even had to fly into enemy territory to catch prey.
"I've reached a critical point. If I devour these two giant spiders, I might fall into a dragon's slumber..."
Persson arrived at the territory in a daze. Two female giants took the corpse from his claws. Sweet Potato skillfully directed the giants to start a fire and skewer the meat, while the other goblins were responsible for serving the roasted parts to Persson.
After devouring the eight-eyed giant spider, Persson felt his eyelids growing heavier, but he still forced himself to stay awake.
Exposing himself to the wilderness was clearly not a wise choice, especially since Dumbledore wouldn't stand idly by and watch him disappear.
In that case, we might as well ask Dumbledore for protection!
……
"So, that's why you came to see me—you want to take a long leave of absence?"
On the eighth floor, in the headmaster's office, Dumbledore looked at Poisson, who was clinging to the window with one hand, and helplessly opened the window, gesturing for him to come in quickly.
"You should learn to use the front door instead of climbing up here," Dumbledore said with a hint of reproach.
"Clearly, those two drooping stone beast statues don't think that way," Persson shrugged.
"I'm sorry, it was my oversight, but you should probably try to seek help from others. Professor McGonagall must know the password to the principal's office, and at the very least, she should know that I've recently become obsessed with cockroach candy."
As Dumbledore spoke, he handed Persson a box of cockroach candy crawling all over the place, but Persson didn't take it because he didn't dare gamble on whether there were any real cockroaches mixed in.
"Alright," Dumbledore said regretfully, putting away the candy, then asked curiously, "Mr. Persson, what is this 'Dragon's Sleep' you mentioned? Is it a disease?"
"No, that's a kind of growth."
Posson didn't intend to hide this too much, after all, the sudden increase in size after the Dragon Sleep couldn't be concealed no matter what.
"The energy within me has accumulated to a critical level, and I must release it through sleep. After the Dragon Sleep, I will be even more powerful."
"Like a butterfly?" Dumbledore quickly understood Poisson's meaning. "For a caterpillar to transform into a butterfly, it must undergo a long development process in its cocoon."
"And you will have to go through the same process, and you hope I can find you a safe 'cocoon,' am I right?"
"That's right." Persson nodded.
"This is truly...amazing..." Dumbledore looked at Persson with great emotion. He had thought that once Persson arrived at the school, he would be able to unravel the mystery of how Persson turned into a dragon.
But now it seems that the mystery has not only not been solved, but has become more and more numerous.
"Alright, Mr. Persson, I'll explain the situation to Professor Snape on your behalf," Dumbledore said, standing up and gesturing for Persson to follow.
"As for the 'cocoon' you want, you've come at a very opportune time. There's a place that was prepared for protection, but it just hasn't found the treasure that needs to be protected yet."
"You mean, the fourth floor...?"
"Professor McGonagall is right, you are indeed a clever boy," Dumbledore said, giving Persson a meaningful look. "I had planned to turn the corridor on the right side of the fourth floor into a treasure vault, but construction has only just begun..."
"Just started construction? That doesn't sound very safe." Persson knew very well what the so-called 'treasure' was, and he knew even more how much Voldemort coveted it.
"No," Dumbledore shook his head, "it's safe precisely because the vault has just been built. Everyone knows that the treasure hasn't been put in yet, and getting close now would only expose one's own desires."
Persson always felt that Dumbledore was targeting him, after all, he also had his eye on the Philosopher's Stone.
Nodding slightly hesitantly, Persson decisively declared, "That's it!"
……
On the fourth floor, in the right corridor, lies a room that appears to be heavily sealed off, but in reality, it cannot even defend against the most basic "Araquoise."
The three-headed dog lay obediently in the corner, not daring to utter a single whimper.
The old man was someone Lou Williams knew; Hagrid had specifically warned him never to hurt him, although Lou Williams didn't think he had the power to do so.
The child was someone Lou Williams had never seen before, yet the sense of oppression he exuded was even stronger than that of the old man. This wasn't a difference in strength, but rather the feeling of prey facing its natural enemy.
Simply put, Lou Williams noticed the kid staring at him and drooling...
"Ahem, tone it down a bit. Hagrid really likes this big dog," Dumbledore reminded Persson to be mindful of his behavior.
"Alright." Persson withdrew his gaze with some regret. He could sense that the three-headed dog's magic was purer than that of the eight-eyed giant spider, and its flesh looked firmer.
However, now that we've entered the dragon's dormancy period, there's no point in supplementing with extra nutrition; getting some sleep is the best course of action.
Following Dumbledore, we climbed down the trapdoor and passed through several empty rooms before arriving at an exceptionally spacious hall.
"As you can see, the only security measure here is that of Fulvi guarding the door," Dumbledore said. "However, I can assure you that I will keep a close watch on this place to make sure no one disturbs you."
"I hope so..." Persson stretched his body, transformed back into his dragon form, and occupied most of the space.
He no longer resisted the drowsiness, letting his eyelids grow heavier and heavier. The last thing he saw before falling into darkness was Dumbledore's playful smile.
"Since this is a treasure vault, we need to test the effectiveness of the security measures. Mr. Persson, once you wake up, I'll be asking you to be a tester..."
