Chapter 46 Peturabo's Arrival
Chapter 46 Peturabo's Arrival
Within the subspace near Terra.
Li Wei's shimmering white soul was like a fleeting white phantom, hovering around the golden pillar of light that pierced through the entire subspace, exploring it closely.
He planned to dismantle the star torch to see if he could learn some psionic knowledge or replicate its core rules.
But when he looked at it with his eyes, which could analyze all things, he was almost burned in the soul by the vast spiritual energy.
He could only see the undying divine fire that the emperor had poured into the star torch, and then he could no longer analyze it.
The emperor's divine power, which transcends mortal comprehension, is something he cannot even begin to fathom in his current state.
After he acquired those eyes that could analyze everything, he began to plan his future path as a psionic wizard.
In the wizarding world, the lineage of wizards does not emphasize bloodlines or sects, but there is only one requirement to break through to the next level after becoming a formal wizard.
That means studying the laws governing all things and making those extracted rules work for us.
He planned to study the composition of the Star Torch and create a unique psionic attack that could target warp creatures.
This can both enhance the psychic wizard's foundation and grant them powerful anti-warp abilities.
Because he had already noticed that there wasn't a single warp creature present beside this star torch that stretched across the galaxy, which was enough to prove that its light had an absolute killing power over all warp filth.
Even he himself had to silently endure the scorching light of the starlight in order to barely maintain his figure.
Suddenly, Li Wei, who was disassembling the device, felt a vibration coming from his psionic mark. Someone was calling out to him through the psionic link, trying to wake him from his seclusion.
"Sigh..." Li Wei extinguished the replica star torch in his hand, which was more than ten thousand times smaller, and immediately sank into the third layer of his mind to return to reality.
"What's wrong?" Li Wei pushed open the door to the lounge and saw Kayan standing outside, looking agitated.
"The Primarch of Peturabo has come to pay a visit, and the Archmage has invited the Chief to come and discuss matters."
Kayan said excitedly, as he had never seen any Primarchs other than his own Primarch, so he was particularly thrilled.
"Huh?" Li Wei was taken aback.
It has been a week since Chiko arrived on Terra, the planet of humanity's Goddess Mother, but she has not yet encountered any other Primarchs.
At the think tank promotion conference, the Primarchs did indeed receive the Emperor's decree to return to Terra to attend.
But even the Emperor hasn't returned to Terra yet, so it's impossible for the Primarchs who are fighting in various parts of the galaxy to return so quickly.
Judging by the timeline, the Primarchs should have already set foot on Terra, but it's unlikely that Perturabo will be the first to return, as his think tank has already been established.
Based on Li Wei's understanding of him, there's a high probability he won't be able to make it back to attend this meeting.
But in reality, he was the first to return. Did he come specifically to support the establishment of the think tank?
Given Peturabo's profit-driven nature, this is unlikely.
Unable to figure it out, Li Wei immediately headed towards the mansion's reception room, wanting to see what Peturabo was really up to.
As he approached, he heard Peturabo's signature deep, husky voice:
"The implementation of think tanks is not a big problem, but it has encountered another problem: the allocation of resources, which makes the situation very complicated."
Li Wei paused, immediately realizing why there was so much resistance to promoting think tanks.
Since it involves resource issues, and wars have always been fought over resources, it seems that some people have their eyes on the resources that Qianzi has allocated in the Empire.
Thinking about it this way, the Alpha Legion wasn't just bored and deliberately causing trouble; they had their own purpose.
Although the number of Qianzi is small, they still occupy a place in the highest-level resource allocation of the empire.
Because the Thousand Sons is the only legion in the empire composed entirely of psionicists, it actually receives no less resources than other legions, and even more than some other legions.
Furthermore, the Thousand Sons Legion's perfunctory attitude and meager achievements in reclaiming lost territories in the galaxy have led to some dissent.
Knowing what was going on, Li Wei pushed open the ornately carved and gilded door to the reception room and walked in.
He first bowed to his Primarch with his hand on his chest, then gave a standard Aquila salute to Perturab, who was sitting in the black iron chair opposite him, and said in a deep voice:
"Your Excellency Peturabo, it's been several years. I hope you've been well."
Perturabo was pleased to see acquaintances. He still remembered the argument on Dawn Star, but didn't dwell on it. He said gruffly:
"Li Wei, long time no see, you've improved quite a bit."
After exchanging pleasantries, Magnus took the initiative to speak to Levi:
"Li Wei, I was a little surprised that think tank promotion is now so deeply intertwined with resource allocation issues. The implications behind this are quite serious."
"This matter should be true. We had already received internal information that the Empire's Sealholder, Macado, was about to impose a 11% tax on the conquered planets, but we didn't expect the resource shortage problem to be this troublesome."
Magnus stood up, looking somewhat worried, his bronze-like face showing a solemn expression.
"Then, my chief, should Qianzi compromise and relinquish some resources to promote the establishment of the entire legion's think tank?"
Li Wei listened silently, his expression darkening. After a moment of contemplation, he slowly said:
"Give up resources? What's the point of promoting the think tank then? I suggest this meeting be cancelled, Your Excellency!"
"What?"
This was Peturabo's exclamation; he hadn't expected the chief of the Thousand Sons to still utter such a startling statement.
He raised an eyebrow and glanced at Li Wei's calm yet sharp expression, which truly resembled Li Wei's bold and outspoken spirit back in Dawn Star.
"This..." Magnus hesitated, then said tentatively, "How about we give up some of the resources? Anyway, the number of Thousand Sons is not large, and it's unnecessary for them to have so many resources. Besides..."
He glanced at Peturab and didn't finish his sentence.
Li Wei knew what Magnus was talking about, because Qianzi's visit to Terra hadn't officially launched the think tank promotion yet, but it had unexpectedly completed another, more crucial step.
They, Qianzi, have also received full support from the Navigator Family and the Star Language Court.
That day, after Li Wei visited them with some information about alleviating the navigator's genetic defects and a formula for a potion to reduce the pain of the star speaker's soul binding, he was able to do so.
These two special forces, which control the lifeline of the empire, hit it off immediately and agreed to provide Qianzi with massive resources to build a truly elite legion of psionicists, in order to promote a positive image of psionicists and improve their living conditions.
Although the Star Speakers and Navigators are the most important cornerstones of the Empire's warp communication and warp travel, they are essentially psykers, and they still suffer from discrimination and suspicion.
They need to change this situation, or perhaps they are taking a huge gamble to gain greater political influence in the future.
