Chapter 280 Onoki, who loves to eat three-colored dumplings
Konoha Banshocho is one of the largest integrated commercial complexes in Konoha New Ward.
The huge dome uses special translucent glass to filter the outdoor sunlight and evenly illuminate the interior of the mall.
The atrium is five stories high, and several crisscrossing escalators move slowly like a long silver dragon.
The Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, floated half a meter off the ground, his hands behind his back, his gaze sweeping over the crowd that was automatically going up and down.
"No chakra needed, no feet needed, the stairs move on their own."
Onoki's big red nose twitched as he smelled the aroma of perfume, coffee, and various foods mixed in the air.
"Have the people of Konoha become too lazy to even walk anymore?"
Following behind him was an extremely burly man, his yellow earth like a moving hill. His thick, large feet seemed somewhat restrained as he stepped on the smooth tiles, as if afraid of crushing the seemingly expensive ground with one foot.
"Father, if this kind of facility were used for material transportation in mines, it would greatly improve efficiency," Huang Tu said, looking at the conveyor belt structure of the escalator.
Beside the loess soil followed a tall, pretty girl from the hidden rock cave.
Hiro Tsugami carefully examined the floor plan in his hand, his gentle eyes sparkling with intense curiosity and exploration of these novel things.
As someone groomed by the higher-ups to be a future strategist, she has been deeply shocked by the tremendous changes in Konoha along the way.
Chitu swallowed hard and pointed to a mark on the map.
"Lord Tsuchikage, Lord Hirotsuchi, the layout of this guide map is ingenious. It shows the distribution of shops in this shopping mall."
"There's a Nara-style health tea shop on the third floor. I heard they've combined the traditional medicine of the Nara people with new beverages, and launched more than a dozen different tea drinks with different proportions. They've been getting high praise from merchants from all over the world these past few days."
"Furthermore, there is a limited edition of a special drink for the elderly that strengthens the body's foundation and nourishes the vital energy. I think you, Lord Tsuchikage, would be interested in it."
"On the same floor, there is also the main store of the Sanshoku Chaya you mentioned, where there are dozens of different flavors of Sanshoku dumplings, desserts and drinks."
Their main purpose in coming here was for Onoki to see just how delicious Konoha's three-colored dumplings really were, and he even opened a dumpling shop in this high-end-looking shopping mall.
Onoki turned his gaze away from the escalator, glanced at Tsugami Hiro, and then looked at the map.
"Since we're here, let's go take a look." Onoki put his hands behind his back and floated towards the stairs that automatically climbed upwards.
The third floor is the dining area.
The use of a large amount of natural wood and warm-toned lighting, combined with artificial water features and bamboo forests, creates an extremely elegant atmosphere.
A long queue formed in front of the health tea shop in Nara, with the line even extending into another corridor. A row of soft seats was set up at the entrance for people to rest, and there was also a machine that provided free ice water.
"So...so many people?" Huang Tu frowned slightly as he looked at the long queue.
Onoki, however, didn't care at all. He patted Huangtu's muscular arm and said matter-of-factly, "Since there are so many people queuing up, it means there must be something special about this tea. Huangtu, go queue up for me and buy me a cup of that limited edition goji berry special drink. We'll go to the dumpling shop first."
"Yes... Father."
Helpless, Huang Tu could only walk to the end of the line and squeeze into the crowd like a moving mountain, drawing strange looks from those around him.
Guided by Hiro Tsugami, Onoki arrived at the dumpling shop he had been longing for.
Unlike health tea shops, there wasn't a long queue in front of Sansechaya, but that didn't mean business was bad. The seats inside were mostly full, so many customers opted to eat out.
When the waitresses, dressed in kimonos, learned that Onoki and his group had chosen to dine in, they gave them a slip of paper indicating where to queue and wait for their number to be called.
During this time, Onoki was not idle either, and he took people to stroll around the mall.
It wasn't lunchtime yet, but every restaurant was packed with people, not only from Konoha but also from places that looked like they came from elsewhere.
Several tens of minutes later, Huang Tu finally returned carrying several paper bags printed with the Nara clan emblem, his forehead even beaded with sweat.
"Father, your tea."
Huang Tu took out Onoki's health tea from one of the bags and handed it over, then distributed the other teas to the people of Iwagakure.
Onoki took the cup, brought the straw to his lips, and took a sip.
The warm liquid slid down my throat, the rich aroma of herbs mixed with a faint sweetness, not the bitter and hard-to-swallow taste I had imagined, but instead brought a wonderful sense of relief.
Onoki didn't say anything, and took another big breath.
However, it doesn't seem to be as miraculous as advertised.
He slowed his chewing and turned to look out the huge floor-to-ceiling window.
Through the window, you can clearly see a huge electronic screen on a building across the street, playing a loop of GG advertisements for various Konoha products.
On the sidewalk below, merchants, tourists, and even ninjas from other villages, dressed in various national costumes, were carrying large and small bags, moving between the shops. Tsugami Hiro stood by the window, sipping the tea that Hiroto had given him while carefully recording every detail he saw.
Huang Tu stood to the side, his large palms pressed against the explosion-proof glass in front of him, his fingers applying slight pressure as he felt the density and toughness of the glass.
"It's very strong, and it seems to contain extremely small amounts of chakra metal powder." Huang Tu withdrew his hand, looking at the surface of the glass that had not been marked, and frowned slightly.
Onoki swallowed the tea in his mouth, sighing slightly.
"Konoha has already left us far behind."
Before he could finish his exclamation, Onoki heard the glutinous rice ball shop nearby seem to be calling him.
"Guest number 142, is guest number 142 here?"
A waitress dressed in a floral kimono stood at the store entrance, calling out to the customers in line.
"Yes, over here." Onoki held up the note in his hand and floated over.
"Alright, please come in, everyone."
"Father, please." Huang Tu quickly followed, turned to the side, and lifted the heavy cotton curtain for Onoki.
The air conditioning inside the shop was stronger than in the corridor. Onoki and his friends sat by the window, where the wooden table in front of them was so smooth it looked like it had been polished from a single piece of wood, with a thin ring of chakra-conducting metal inlaid around the edge.
"Here's a touch screen for ordering." The waiter spoke softly, teaching the group of Iwagakure guests how to use it and how to place their orders.
She tapped the screen a few times with her index finger, and the screen lit up, displaying vibrant images of desserts flashing by.
Onoki stared at the pictures, his fingers tapping unconsciously on the armrest.
"No need for hand seals, or even speaking," Onoki said in a low voice. "Just press it, and the kitchen will know what I want to eat. It's a very efficient method."
Huang Tu looked down at the menu on the table. It not only had traditional glutinous rice balls, but also listed the calories of each dessert and the recommended tea to pair with it.
Just then, a uniquely shaped metal food cart, hovering about an inch off the ground, silently glided past down the aisle.
It didn't bump into any of the moving waiters, but stopped precisely at the side of each table.
Hiroshi Tsugami's gaze was fixed on the faint blue light emanating from the bottom of the food cart.
"That's... a miniaturized application of magnetic repulsion arrays." She quickly jotted it down in her notebook. "Not for defense, but for transporting tableware. Konoha has broken down high-level barrier technology to this extent."
Several skewers of steaming hot, glistening tricolor dumplings were served on the table.
Onoki picked up a skewer; the sauce was a rich amber color.
He took a bite, and the texture of the glutinous rice melted on his tongue. The sweetness here had a pure quality that came from the careful selection of raw materials.
He looked out the window and could see a shop called Konoha Home Appliances across the street.
A ninja wearing a Konoha vest walked out carrying a large cardboard box, his face full of joy.
Onoki took another sip of tea, which warmed his stomach.
"Huang Tu, Hiro, look at those passersby." Onoki put down the bamboo skewer and pointed his finger out the window. "There is no fear in their eyes when they look at us, not because we are not strong enough, but because they feel that in this shopping mall, under the order of Konoha, we ninjas are just consumers."
He picked up the bill from the table.
The amount mentioned above was insignificant to a mere shadow, but Onoki examined it with exceptional care.
"Every transaction incurs a tax. Every time we eat a skewer of dumplings, we are contributing to the Konoha laboratory."
Onoki stood up and put his hands behind his back again.
"Let's go take a look at the ninja tool section. I want to see how far Konoha's scientific ninja tools have progressed."
As he walked out of the Sanshoku Tea House, he noticed a machine he didn't recognize at the corner of the corridor.
The machine was neatly arranged with canned drinks of various colors, and a little girl was skillfully inserting coins and pressing the button.
With a "thump," the sound of the drink falling was crisp and rhythmic.
Onoki did not stop. His back looked somewhat short under the bright lights, but he was more tense than ever.
"Konoha is redefining power in a different way."
