Chapter 408 Win-Win
"Merlin—bye—" Looking at the silver phoenix guardian, Karkaroff was stunned and didn't know what to say. He was so shocked that his body trembled slightly.
"That was definitely a bit much—" Roy quickly stopped adjusting the bow tie that was emitting a faint glow, then pursed her lips and asked, "Is this—okay?"
"Yes—yes," Karkaroff said, his lips twitching. "Your guardian spirit is—truly astonishing—"
"I thought it would be deer or something at most—" he muttered, then shook his head. "Anyway—"
"That's wonderful that you've learned the Guardian Charm." He repeated what he had said before.
It's just a guardian spell, why are you so scared? Royla didn't quite understand Karkaroff's thinking. You're really embarrassing!
Seemingly recovering from his surprise, Karkaroff slowly said, "In that case—"
"That Harry—"
"When the second match comes—you and I will meet in that corner of the Forbidden Forest near the Black Lake." He lowered his voice, "It's best not to let anyone else know about this."
"Ah—um." Loila nodded upon hearing this.
But—how will Mr. Potter meet up with you in the second game?—Isn't Mr. Potter supposed to participate in the game?
"Don't worry." Seemingly understanding Loila's thoughts, Karkaroff lowered his voice and said, "You'll find out when the second match starts—".
"All you need to know is that whatever happened in the second game wasn't real—that's enough." He tapped his cane lightly as he spoke. "And don't tell anyone about that either."
"This is our little secret, okay?"
"————" Loila was silent for a few seconds, then nodded silently.
Since that's the case—then let's go for it—let's prepare for taking down Ka on that day—since it's the day of the competition, I might need Miss Shiloh's cooperation to have her manipulate the fake Loira to complete any possible teaching duties—
As Loila was thinking this and preparing to leave, Karkaroff called out to her, "Wait a minute, Harry."
He said slowly, "There's something I'd like to ask you."
"What's wrong?" Loila paused for a moment and turned to look at him.
"I need a little bit of your blood," Karkaroff said slowly. "Sirius is no ordinary person—finding him requires a special spell."
"A spell?" Loila looked at Karkaroff in surprise. She had never heard of any spell that required blood to find someone.
She did know a few others—but no matter how she looked at it, none of them had anything to do with finding Sirius, right?
What is Karkaroff trying to do? — Although she had some doubts, Loila had no choice but to do as he said, since she was no longer the knowledgeable Professor Hamilton, but a fourth-year student.
"I understand." She pursed her lips and raised her arm.
But if it weren't for Mr. Potter's blood, would his so-called spell still work?
"Don't worry, this is Durmstrang's special magic." Karkaroff gently picked up a short knife and slashed it across the back of Loila's hand.
"Borrowing your blood can help me find someone with whom you have a close relationship." He said this while taking half a bottle of Loila's blood from a small bottle.
Who are you trying to fool? I had no idea Durmstrang had this magic. — But Loila was too lazy to expose him anyway, since she would be killing him soon, wouldn't she?
As long as he doesn't become suspicious, nothing else matters.
Seeing Karkaroff's satisfied expression, Loila smiled slightly.
Today's duel between Loila and Karkaroff ended in a win-win situation.
"That's enough for today," Professor Lupin's voice came, making Harry breathe a sigh of relief.
"You've made great progress since then," Lupin said with a slight nod. "I feel like it won't be long before you learn the Patronus Charm."
"Is that so?" Harry was slightly pleased to hear this. Before, because of Lola, his mind was not on this matter. Now that Lola had rejected him, he was able to concentrate more.
Seeing the happy Harry, Lupin smiled gently, then slowly sat down on the grass, patting the person next to him as he did so.
"Sit down and rest for a bit, Harry," he said gently. "We can have a casual chat."
"Yes, Professor." Harry liked Professor Lupin very much; besides being friends with his father, he was also a highly skilled professor.
Unlike any of the previous Defense Against the Dark Arts professors, Professor Lupin was perfectly normal.
Of course, this doesn't mean Professor Hamilton is abnormal—it's just that in his first year, Professor Hamilton seemed like a dark wizard no matter how you looked at him.
But Professor Lupin was different. He was very gentle and refined, and occasionally quite humorous when he spoke.
This is probably Harry's most satisfying Defense Against the Dark Arts professor so far.
Therefore, he also trusted Professor Lu Ping, who sometimes gave him a sense of security that he had never felt before.
"Harry, you really look like your father," Lupin remarked casually, as if with a touch of emotion. "You're sure to achieve great things in the future."
Harry was delighted to hear this and instinctively said, "Professor Lupin—you're a very impressive professor too."
"Thanks to your help, I was able to learn the Guardian Charm."
"Is that so?" Lupin smiled slightly upon hearing this, but there was no real joy in his smile. To Harry's surprise, there was a hint of forcedness in his smile.
"I'm not some great wizard," he said, shaking his head. "And to be honest—not long ago I was even doubting whether I had any talent for teaching."
"But Professor Lupin, you're a great teacher," Harry couldn't help but say.
"Is that so, Harry?" Lupin ruffled Harry's hair. "I'm very happy to have your approval—"
--only----"
"Sometimes, there's that feeling of helplessness in my heart—" He paused, then sighed softly.
Harry was a little curious about what Professor Lupin was talking about.
Is it related to Voldemort? Or to Sirius Black?
He paused, then instinctively asked, "Does this have anything to do with Sirius?"
"Sirius—" Lupin hesitated for a few seconds upon hearing the name, then forced a smile: "Perhaps?"
"But it's more about myself," he said, patting Harry on the shoulder.
"You'd better work hard." He said, standing up and looking at the moon hanging in the sky. He subconsciously touched the necklace on his chest before continuing, "Don't grow up to be like me."
"Don't say that, Professor Lupin." Harry stood up and looked at Lupin, saying quite seriously, "No matter what, Professor Lupin, you will always be the best Defense Against the Dark Arts professor I know."
Lupin fell silent upon hearing this. He pursed his lips, then broke into a smile—a much more cheerful one.
But just then, a series of footsteps approached, followed by a rather untimely voice.
"Potter, so that's why you're here?"
"Huh?" The two turned their heads at the same time and saw Snape with an ugly expression. He was glaring at Harry and Lupin with a dark face.
"What's wrong, Severus?" Lupin raised an eyebrow and stepped slightly in front of Harry.
"Nothing much," Snape scoffed. "Just a reminder to Potts to listen to the professors at school."
"Instead of running away as soon as you see a professor."
"Run away?" Harry was taken aback, but before he could speak, Lupin said, "It's normal for some professors to be afraid, isn't it, Severus?"
"It's better to run away from a professor than to run away from a classmate."
"————" Snape's face immediately turned ugly, and he gritted his teeth and said, "Lupin ———— You've really had a good time lately."
"A year ago, you didn't have such a pleasant opportunity to talk under the moonlight."
"————" Lupin was silent for a few seconds after Snape's words. He raised an eyebrow and then suddenly laughed as if he had thought of something: "Well, Severus."
"Sometimes having a good friend is really important."
"And I'm very grateful to my friend," he paused, then added, "And you, Severus?"
Do you have friends you'd like to thank?
"————" Snape snorted, then glared at Harry and Lupin again before turning and leaving.
"Bott—you'd better watch yourself—" he muttered. "If you run off again—Lupin won't be protecting you."
Watching his retreating figure, Lupin shrugged and shook his head: "He's always so sarcastic, isn't he?"
"Ah—maybe—" Harry was more confused now. Hadn't he been with Professor Lupin all this time?
What is Snape saying here?
