Chapter 6: Sleepy-eyed
Chapter 6: Sleepy-eyed
It was late at night again, and Luo Qixi carefully reached out and knocked on the door of the Astronomical Tower.
"Teacher... are you there?"
"..."
After a few seconds of waiting, Luo Qixi received no reply, which made her look up at the moon outside the window of the astronomical tower.
The moon is in the same position as yesterday... I didn't arrive early, did I?
But why didn't the teacher respond?
After waiting a few more seconds, Luo Qixi coughed and knocked on the door again.
"Teacher... are you there?"
"..."
There has still been no response.
Has the teacher gone out again, just like yesterday?
After all, thinking about it carefully... Principal Sylvania also came back from outside yesterday, right?
Luo Qixi reached out and pushed the door in front of her, and the door creaked softly.
It seems the teacher didn't lock the door again... Luo Qixi nodded slightly, roughly understanding that the teacher must have gone out... So, just like yesterday... she'll go in and wait first?
Upon entering the Astronomy Tower, the first thing that catches the eye is still Principal Sylvania's enormous coffin... or rather, bed... How can a vampire sleep in something like this?
It looks really strange... and why put it in the living room... By the way, do the rooms in the Astronomical Tower even have a living room?
Luo Qixi carefully approached the coffin, squatted down, and then looked at it with some curiosity.
I must say, the teacher is indeed a peculiar person... but despite this, the teacher is surprisingly sincere...
Just as Luo Qixi was thinking this, she suddenly heard a soft sound coming from the coffin in front of her.
"Clatter".
"Ugh!" The sudden noise startled her so much that she leaned back and fell to the ground with a thud. Even so, she instinctively scrambled back a few steps until her back was against the wall before she remembered something and took out her staff.
What...what is that?!
Could there be something terrible hidden in the teacher's coffin?!
"Squeak"
In Luo Qixi's terrified gaze, the coffin lid was slowly pushed open, and then a pale hand reached out from inside.
The hand was exceptionally delicate and pale, reflecting a faint luster in the moonlight... but upon seeing this hand, Luo Qixi paused slightly.
Is this the teacher's... hand?
"Ah...you're here?" Cidelina sat up sleepily from the coffin, rubbing her eyes as she looked at the blue-haired girl sitting blankly in the corner and said, "Did I oversleep today?"
"Teacher...you..." Luo Qixi's lips twitched slightly, unsure of what to say.
"Sorry..." Cidelyn didn't seem fully awake yet, rubbing her eyes and yawning. "I went to bed a little late today... so I only just woke up."
"Teacher, you...you slept for a whole day and night?" Luo Qixi asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.
"Huh?" Cinderella stopped rubbing her eyes and stared blankly at Loki.
Luo Qixi wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt that her teacher, who had just woken up, didn't seem as cold as before. Instead, she seemed a little... a little dazed.
"Ah... I forgot to tell you." Cidelyn nodded to herself as if she had remembered something: "As a vampire... I usually sleep during the day."
"Evenings are my time to be active..." she said, shaking her head. "This morning... I got back a little late, so I slept in a bit."
As she spoke, she slowly climbed out of the coffin, her long white dress revealing a crystal-clear radiance in the moonlight.
Is this the teacher's...pajamas? Aren't they a little...too loose?
It was so loose that Luo Qixi could see...the body beneath the white nightgown through the moonlight...
Cinderella, however, seemed completely unaware of this. She stretched, patted her face lightly, and walked barefoot out of the coffin onto the floor.
Amidst the "tap, tap" sounds, she picked up a small red bottle and twirled it in her palm...
"We should drink today..." she said, looking at Luo Qixi as if she had just remembered something.
"I almost forgot... you're still here, Luo Qixi..."
Her words jolted Luo Qixi awake. She instinctively covered her neck, but then she remembered the promise she made to her teacher.
For every time you get blood sucked... you can get an Asura silver coin... it seems... it seems pretty good?
So she pursed her lips, carefully closed her eyes, and then pulled open her collar.
Upon seeing her actions, Catherine suddenly chuckled, "What are you doing, Loki?"
"Ah... Teacher?" Luo Qixi's face immediately turned red. "I thought you were going to... drink my blood..."
"Do you eat breakfast right after you get up?" Cidelina asked, snapping her fingers as she raised one hand. A drop of water fell from her fingertip and landed in the basin in front of her.
As she gently picked up a towel and wiped her face, she said slowly, "It's not mealtime yet..."
"At least after the lesson, right?" As she wiped her face, that cold feeling slowly returned, and when she turned to look at Luo Qixi again, the dazed look in her red eyes disappeared completely.
"Let's begin today's lesson," she said, slowly walking up to Luo Qixi and extending her hand.
Seeing Loki's slightly bewildered expression, Cinderella raised an eyebrow: "Do demons prefer sitting on the floor for lessons?"
"I'm...sorry!"
"What a foolish apprentice..."
With both Cinderella and Lokisi seated at the table, almost ten minutes had passed since Lokisi arrived.
"If I remember correctly... yesterday when I left, I told you to experiment with how big a water balloon you could make, right?" Cinderella said slowly, looking at Loki, who had her head down.
"Ah...yes, teacher." Luo Qixi nodded and said somewhat awkwardly, "I experimented with it on the playground."
"It can be... this big at most..." She opened her arms to show Cinderella.
Cinderella pursed her lips, watching her somewhat silly actions, and said, "Next time... could you please take a closer look?"
"Hmm!"
Seeing Lokishi lower her head in embarrassment, Cidline shook her head and said, "The size of the water ball spell... is related to your magic power."
"The more magic you have, the larger the water sphere you can condense..." she paused, "That's part of the most basic magic curriculum, right?"
"Yes...yes, teacher." Luo Qixi nodded honestly, her long braid swaying slightly behind her head as she moved.
"And magic... according to the theories in existing textbooks, everyone's total amount of magic is innate and fixed, right?"
"Yes..." Luo Qixi nodded gently; this was also part of the textbook.
Or rather, a consensus.
But seeing her nod, Catherine smiled gently: "What if I told you... that's all wrong?"
"Huh...huh?" Luo Qixi blinked.
"What I mean is... is the idea that a person's total magical power is fixed... wrong?"
