Chapter 562 The Battle for the Skies, the Overlord of the Skies
Chapter 562 The Battle for the Skies, the Overlord of the Skies
As the scorching aftershocks gradually dissipated, Lugia, who had been slammed into the abdomen by Flame Charge and then subjected to the subsequent burning flames, smashed its massive body into the ground, creating a not-so-shallow crater.
The fire-breathing dragon adjusted its posture in mid-air, hovering with its wings flapping, its eyes fixed on the smoke and dust below, its chest rising and falling slightly, and its breathing becoming a little rapid.
Charizard was able to successfully use Flame Charge only after taking full advantage of all the conditions. Even though it successfully knocked Lugia to the ground, this attack still took a huge toll on Charizard.
soon.
At the center of the smoke and dust, Lugia's enormous white figure slowly rose from the crater.
It shook off the dust and rubble covering its body, its eyes calm and unwavering, showing no sign of anger or frustration from its recent defeat. It simply raised its head, its gaze piercing through the thin smoke to meet the fire-breathing dragon high in the sky.
Darko looked at Lugia's current state and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
He could clearly sense a powerful aura emanating from Lugia, a desire to take the initiative and completely crush his opponent.
Lugia gently flapped its wings, and Darkrod immediately understood that Lugia wanted to prove itself as the ruler of the skies through the purest aerial duel.
“Luggia, go.” Darko’s voice was calm, filled with unwavering trust.
"Waaaaah—!"
Lugia let out a majestic cry, and its huge silver-white wings suddenly spread out and flapped, creating another powerful hurricane on the ground with just a simple takeoff maneuver.
The rubble and dust were swept around by the violent airflow, and the entire Lily of the Valley Arena seemed to tremble slightly under this force.
Lugia's massive body rose from the ground at an astonishing speed, reaching the same height as Charizard in the blink of an eye.
It hovered directly in front of the Charizard, and every slight flap of its wings created a powerful airflow that cut through the air like invisible blades, interfering with the Charizard's flight.
The scorching sun continued to bake the earth, and Charizard, bathed in the intense heat derived from its own characteristics, burned even more fiercely in the flames on its tail. Facing the gale whipped up by Lugia, its reliable figure stood firm like an unyielding mountain, unmoved by the rushing air currents.
The air seemed to freeze at that moment.
Two powerful Pokémon, standing atop the sky, confront each other.
Ash and Darkrai didn't give any commands, and the two Pokémon didn't make any other moves. There was only the sound of howling wind and the fierce clash of their almost tangible battle intent in the air.
Time seemed to stretch out infinitely, like the deathly silence before a Western cowboy's duel under the midday sun.
In an instant.
Just as Lugia's massive, sky-covering wings suddenly flapped more forcefully; almost as the flames on the dragon's tail suddenly surged upwards several feet, and intense heat surged wildly within its body.
Without words or commands, the two sides reached a tacit understanding and moved simultaneously.
This is no longer the kind of confrontation that relies on on-the-spot tactics and ingenious calculations, but a battle of the most primitive and purest strength and will.
"Luggia, wings!" Darkor's voice pierced through the storm.
"Charizard, Dragon Claw!" Ash's Aura command was transmitted to Charizard's mind almost simultaneously.
Lugia's enormous silver-white wings shone with a blinding light, like two giant blades that could split the heavens and earth, carrying the force to tear the sky apart, and slammed down towards Charizard.
Charizard showed no weakness, gathering a dazzling azure energy on its right claw, its sharp claw gleaming with a cold light as it met Lugia's attack.
"boom--!!!"
The dragon's claws and giant wings collided violently in mid-air, unleashing a deafening explosion. The terrifying energy rapidly spread higher into the sky, tearing the surrounding clouds to shreds.
In a single exchange, the two Pokémon swiftly passed each other, leaving two afterimages in the air that were almost imperceptible to the naked eye, and instantly changed positions.
Before the audience could even see what they were doing, a new round of combat had already begun.
"Flash Charge!"
"Mind Hammer!"
Charizard erupted in even more intense flames, charging towards Lugia like a burning meteor, its long, fiery tail trailing behind it. Lugia's head glowed with a strange pink light, a powerful spiritual force gathering within it, as it fearlessly met Charizard's Flame Charge head-on.
"boom--!!!"
Another earth-shattering roar.
Two completely different energies collided and canceled each other out wildly, eventually exploding together. Charizard and Lugia were simultaneously thrown backward by the enormous recoil, creating a distance of tens of meters in the air.
Then, almost without any pause.
"Flame Jet!"
"Air cutting!"
Charizard steadied itself, then suddenly opened its massive jaws, unleashing a roaring pillar of crimson fire aimed directly at Lugia in the distance. Lugia, meanwhile, gracefully flapped its wings, and countless crescent-shaped blades gleaming with cold light materialized out of thin air, raining down like a dense barrage of bullets to meet Charizard's flames.
"BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM—!!!"
Pillars of fire collided and exploded repeatedly in mid-air, producing a continuous roar. The scorching flames and sharp wind blades intertwined, forming a dazzling yet deadly energy storm.
Two distinctly different figures clashed fiercely in the vast sky, each collision causing the arena to tremble. Dragon claws tore through the air, wings stirred up the wind and clouds, and flames and beams of energy crisscrossed the sky, transforming the entire sky above the Lily of the Valley Arena into their own battlefield.
However, no matter how strong Charizard's will was or how rich its battle experience, it ultimately fell into a disadvantageous position against a legendary Pokémon like Lugia. Lugia's almost inexhaustible stamina and the storms it generated while flying allowed it to gradually gain an absolute advantage in the protracted battle of attrition.
The Charizard's injuries continued to accumulate, its once blazing tail flames dimmed slightly, and its breathing became increasingly heavy.
But the burning fighting spirit in its orange-red eyes did not diminish at all; on the contrary, it burned even more intensely, as if it wanted to devote all its life force to this battle.

P.S.: Sorry, I said I'd update four chapters last night, but I only managed one. A meeting lasted until 9 PM, and when I got back, I was so sleepy sitting in front of the computer that I couldn't write anything. Then I was assigned to early duty today, meaning I have to get up at 5:30 AM to go to school. Now I'm sitting in the office working overtime to catch up... There's another meeting at 6 PM tonight, I don't know how late that will take. My average sleep time this week is less than four hours a night, it's really tough.
