Chapter 437 Binhai City, Denji's Appearance
Chapter 437 Binhai City, Denji's Appearance
With the bus swaying slightly and the scenery outside the window rushing past, Ash and his friends finally arrived at Seaside City—the last stop of their gym battles in the Sinnoh region.
As soon as they got out of the car, the scene in front of them made Xiao Guang and his friends' eyes light up.
Unlike other cities I've visited, the coastal city is full of modern atmosphere.
Towering skyscrapers stand side by side, their metallic solar panels gleaming in the sunlight, transforming the city into a futuristic metropolis. Among these towering buildings, the Marina Tower in the very center of the city stands out as the most dazzling and eye-catching.
Along both sides of the road, meticulously manicured green belts resemble two emerald ribbons, adding a touch of vitality to this steel jungle. Various cleaning robots work tirelessly, maintaining the city's cleanliness.
Looking up, you can even see several transparent aerial tracks with driverless maglev trains running on them, silently taking passengers to every corner of the city.
This highly electrified and automated city exudes the charm of technology, making one feel as if they are in a science fiction movie.
"Binhai City is really amazing..." Xiao Guang couldn't help but exclaim, his eyes filled with curiosity and excitement.
“Yes, the level of technology here is second to none in the entire Sinnoh region; it’s a truly modern metropolis,” Xiaogang added.
However, Da Ye had no time to appreciate the futuristic cityscape. He grabbed Xiao Zhi and hurriedly headed towards the seaside gym.
"Although Denji has made great contributions to the modernization of Binhai City, he's not in the gym most of the time. He only stays here for a short while before noon. We need to hurry!"
As Da Ye walked briskly, he explained, his tone tinged with a hint of resentment, seemingly disapproving of Dian Ci's "neglect of his duties."
Xiao Guang and Xiao Gang exchanged a glance, followed behind Da Ye, and couldn't help but mutter complaints under their breath.
"Mr. Daiya really cares about Mr. Denji."
Even though they complained a lot, their actions showed genuine concern and worry for the electricity company.
However, there is one problem that Xiaozhi has been concerned about for a long time.
Can't Denji rekindle his passion for Pokémon battles by battling Yarrow?
After all, they are the Four Heavenly Kings, and their strength goes without saying. It can't be said that Denji felt there was no point in fighting Daiya, right?
No, could it be that Denji became desensitized because he had been fighting Daiya since he was a child? Or is it that Denji simply doesn't feel like fighting against people who are too strong?
As Ash was being pulled by Da Ye towards the location of the Seaside Gym, these questions kept flashing through his mind.
With Da Ye hurrying along, they soon arrived at the entrance of the Binhai Dojo.
The dojo's exterior complements the overall style of the coastal city, exuding a strong sense of technology. The gray-blue metal exterior reflects a cold light under the sunlight, giving it an indestructible feel.
The dojo's main gate was tightly closed, and contrary to its appearance, there were no superfluous decorations at the entrance, making it appear simple yet solemn.
Da Ye stepped forward and pressed the communication device by the door.
A moment later, a slightly tired voice came through the communicator: "Da Ye, what's wrong?"
"Denji, open the door! I've found you a great challenger!" Da Ye said excitedly, as if he could already see Denji rekindling his fighting spirit after being defeated by Ash.
However, Dianci's response was like a bucket of cold water, instantly extinguishing Daye's enthusiasm. "Are you talking about this kind of thing again? Please don't bother me during my break time. Recently, several electrical devices in Binhai City have malfunctioned, and I need to go to the site to help with maintenance."
"You bastard! Stop making excuses! Open the door!" Because he had been fooled by Denji with this kind of reason before, Daiye did not believe Denji's excuse at all.
"Ugh, this is such a hassle. Please stop giving me extra work." Denji sighed helplessly, and then the dojo doors slowly opened.
The person who appeared at the door was a tall, thin young man wearing a blue jacket with gold round buckles and black clothes underneath.
Her long, spiky, golden hair was a little messy, her face showed signs of fatigue, and her eyes looked somewhat lifeless.
"I already told you, you don't need to bring any more people. I already... um?"
Denji was about to say something to Daiya when he suddenly noticed Ash and the others standing behind Daiya. His gaze lingered on Ash for a moment, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. Then, he bypassed Daiya and warmly welcomed Ash and the others inside.
"Ash... really? Welcome to the Seaside Gym, please come in."
As Denji spoke, he led Ash and the others into the gym, completely ignoring Big Leaf who was standing at the entrance.
Daiya stood there, watching Denji's enthusiastic gesture, momentarily speechless. This guy…why has he suddenly become so enthusiastic? Is this still the same Denji who had absolutely no interest in Pokémon battles?
"Um... Mr. Denji, may I ask... do you know me?" Ash was a little overwhelmed by Denji's enthusiasm, and he asked in confusion.
"Who in the entire Sinnoh region doesn't know you?"
Dianci smiled and asked in return.
"..." Xiao Zhi fell silent, and after thinking about it carefully, it seemed to be true.
"And soon it won't just be the Sinnoh region anymore. A week from now, the CDs of the programs you participated in recording, including previous battle recordings, will be compiled into a special and sold all over the world."
Ash knew this too; the Sinnoh NOW production team had already told him.
He never expected that a show he and Xiaoguang had agreed to on the spur of the moment would become such a hit. It was strange; how come he hadn't discovered their talent before?
Denji had no idea what Ash was thinking, and simply continued:
“I’ve watched your match videos, especially that 2-on-2 battle against Shinji and Kohei,” Denji said, his eyes gleaming with excitement, as if he had seen something that thrilled him. “Ever since then, I’ve been looking forward to fighting you and preparing for this day!”
"Oh, I see..." Ash suddenly realized. He hadn't expected Denji to develop such a strong interest in him because of a game recording. It was a lucky accident.
While Ash and Denji were having a lively conversation, Big Leaf, who was left standing at the door, silently watched them leave.
His hand was still in the position of patting Ash on the shoulder and pushing him forward to introduce Denji.
So...
Am I the one who was abandoned?
Da Ye remained silent, when suddenly an immense sorrow welled up in her heart.
Why do I look like the other woman/woman?! (Thud!)

(I've been revising the new book for the past two days, but I'm still not satisfied with how I revise it. I've also delayed the updates for the donations I was supposed to repay. I was supposed to write two more chapters for this book tomorrow, but my colleagues called me to go to Longyan to see the cherry blossoms, so I probably won't be back until late tomorrow night (T_T). I'll try my best to repay them~QAQ~)
(My next book is not a fanfiction about Satoshi. If you like Satoshi fanfiction, you can check out my previous book, "Adventure Begins at Pokémon Academy," on CWM. That was my first officially serialized fanfiction, and it's probably the best one I wrote and the one I'm most satisfied with (probably). My next book will have an original plot, starting with Unova, and the timeline will be around the time when Cattleya is about 6 years old.)
