Pokémon: Dreams Come True Starting in Sinnoh

Chapter 428 The Lament of the Desperate

Chapter 428 The Lament of the Desperate

Amidst howling winds and snow, Ash and Pikachu stood like boulders, blocking the path of the blazing sun.

"Why...why are you here?!" Akari's voice was filled with disbelief and astonishment, as if he had been doused with a bucket of ice water, leaving him completely frozen from head to toe.

Ash didn't waste any words. With a flick of his finger, a crumpled notebook appeared between his fingers. The cover was simple, and it was a Team Galactic standard item. He shook it gently, his movements calm, but his eyes were sharp as a knife.

“I found this on one of your men.” Ash’s voice wasn’t loud, but it clearly pierced through the wind and snow. “This has a detailed record of the weaknesses of the rock wall above the Spear Pillar. You don’t need a key to get through here, so I guess you’ll probably choose to come out from here in the end.”

In this respect, Ash and Sun are somewhat similar.

Red Sun is worried that entering from here will damage the altar, while Ash is worried that a head-on collision with Red Sun inside the Spear Pillar will destroy the altar.

In the end, after going around in circles, the two still met here for the last time.

Chi Ri stared intently at the notebook, his eyes bulging and bloodshot. He seemed to have all his strength drained away, his face empty and blank. He never imagined that he would ultimately be defeated by this.

After a few seconds of deathly silence, Chi Ri suddenly burst into a maniacal laugh. The laughter was shrill and echoed on the snow-covered mountaintop, filled with despair and sorrow.

"Hahahaha...Why?! Why?!" The laughter stopped abruptly. He looked up sharply, his face contorted, staring intently at Ash, and demanded, "Why would an ordinary trainer like you go to such lengths?! What is it that makes you so determined to oppose me?!"

Ash looked at him quietly, his gaze steady and unwavering. "I'm not against you," he said calmly, yet with an undeniable force. "It's you, Sun, who stands against everyone, against this world, against all trainers who love Pokémon and yearn for peace."

"Nonsense!!" Chi Ri roared, his voice hoarse and his face flushed. "This world has long been rotten! Can't you foolish humans see that?! This world is full of strife, full of suffering, full of ugliness! I'm just cleaning out the world's cancer, making it a better place! What did I do wrong?!"

He took a sudden step forward and roared, "I'm saving the world! If you had just cooperated, things wouldn't have turned out this way!"

Ash sneered, his eyes filled with mockery and pity. "I don't understand what you're talking about, but...where there's sunlight, there's shadow. This world can't be perfect."

He slowly shook his head.

"Moreover, you keep saying you want to save the world, but everything you do will only push the world into deeper darkness. At least to the world, you, Red Sun, have already become darkness itself."

Chi Ri was rendered speechless by Xiao Zhi's words. He opened his mouth, wanting to refute, but found that any words seemed pale and powerless.

All those lofty theories of the past were completely stripped away by Xiao Zhi at this moment, exposing the true nature of his actions. Those words used to deceive people finally lost their superficial luster.

His chest heaved violently, his breathing became rapid, and his expression shifted unpredictably. He knew he had completely lost any room for argument.

His gaze, like that of a wandering ghost, slowly turned to the interior of the Spear Pillar behind him. Gyarados and Crow's Head lay limply on the ground, their massive bodies rendered powerless, incapacitated, like two piles of broken steel.

Despair, like an icy tide, instantly engulfed the blazing sun. He knew he was truly reaching the end.

"It's not over yet..." Chi Ri suddenly murmured, his voice hoarse, like a trapped beast struggling in its final moments. He slowly raised his hand, trembling as he pulled out several treasure balls from his waist, his fingertips white, clutching them tightly as if grasping at the last straw. He was going to fight to the death, even if it meant being a moth drawn to a flame!

However, just as Akari was about to throw the Poké Ball, a sudden change occurred.

Several flashes of light appeared, and three figures silently appeared beside Ash, hovering in mid-air and emitting a faint halo.

Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit, the three legendary lake spirits, stood firmly by Ash's side like loyal guardians.

Immediately afterwards, an even stronger sense of oppression rose from below. Purple light surged out like a tide, and Deoxys, like a god descending from the sky, slowly appeared, standing side by side with the three lake Pokémon, protecting Ash together.

Chi Ri froze, his expression instantly solidifying as if he had been frozen in place. He stared blankly at the scene before him, his eyes vacant and unfocused.

Looking at Ash surrounded by Pokémon in the center, Akari's mind went blank.

He felt as if he had fallen into a bizarre and fantastical illusion, where everything before his eyes became blurry and distorted.

He saw his childhood self, the spirited boy who once stood in the sunlight. He was surrounded by countless Pokémon, chirping merrily around him and nuzzling his cheek affectionately. Back then, he too had dreams, looked forward to the future, and believed in the beauty of the world.

However, the illusion shattered, and the scene before him became clear again. What he saw was still Ash surrounded by legendary Pokémon, while he himself stood alone in the wind and snow, like a lonely ghost abandoned by the world.

The gale continued to howl, whipping at the sun's broken body like a merciless mockery. He stood alone in the shadows, his former companions and ideals all gone, leaving only endless despair and emptiness.

Akari slowly lowered his head, and the precious ball he was tightly clutching in his hand slipped weakly and fell onto the snow with a faint sound.

Ah, I see.

The blazing sun looked up at the horizon.

Sometime later, the raging blizzard had stopped.

The biting cold wind became gentle, no longer stinging my cheeks like a knife.

Sunlight shone through the thick clouds onto the snow-covered Tianguan Mountain, dispelling the chill.

However, the sunlight failed to reach the blazing sun.

It seemed that this was the first time he had felt such cold since he set his sights on creating a new world.

Looking at the beam of light splashed in front of Ash.

He took a few steps forward as if possessed, trying to grasp the warmth cast down by the world, but the clouds in the sky swayed gently with the wind, and thicker clouds blocked the sun once again.

The moment the sunlight disappeared from sight, the last glimmer of light in Chi Ri's eyes vanished as well.

Is this the world's choice?

As Akari looked at Ash, it was as if he saw his younger self.

Looking at the Pillar of Spears again, he suddenly wanted to burst out laughing, to laugh at his own foolishness, and at the efforts he had held as a vision for so many years.

But he couldn't laugh.

Thinking about the immense trauma his actions had caused the world, he couldn't laugh, and even crying became a luxury.

Could I have been that wrong?

He questioned his own conscience.

The world has no pity for him.

That's only natural, isn't it?

"Cross-bat..."

Akari called out to the cross-bat, and when the cross-bat flew to his side, he stroked its head apologetically.

"You've worked so hard all these years... Now, do one last thing for me: stop them."
