Chapter 426 The Desperate Truth, A Standoff in the Dark
Chapter 426 The Desperate Truth, A Standoff in the Dark
"What about people?"
Chi Ri's voice echoed across the empty altar, carrying a hint of disbelief and astonishment.
He turned around abruptly, but none of the elite members of Team Galactic, who should have been following closely behind, could be seen. The empty depths of the tunnel seemed to connect to another world, swallowing everyone up.
"What's going on?!"
Chi Ri's expression changed drastically, his voice filled with anger and confusion.
Hades frowned, looked around, and his aged face was filled with solemnity.
“Lord Akasuna…” Unlike Akasuna, who was blinded by rage, Hades maintained his composure and reminded him, “It’s not just the members of Team Galactic…”
Chi Ri's heart sank suddenly, a sense of foreboding washing over him. Only now did he finally remember—
Azelf, Uxie, Empyrean, as well as the Diamond Jewel, the White Jewel, and the Red Chains—these were the keys he had painstakingly collected to activate the ritual, and they disappeared along with the Team Galactic members.
It was as if an invisible hand had wiped everything away, leaving only the cold air and Chi Ri's heart, which was gradually sinking into the abyss.
"No! No, this is absolutely wrong! Where are my things?! Where are my ideals?!"
Chi Ri's voice was hoarse, filled with an almost frantic despair. He rushed to the altar, waving his hands wildly in the air, as if searching for something, or perhaps trying to drive something away.
"Azelf! Uxie! Memridr! And the orb and the chains! Where did they all go?!"
He turned around abruptly, staring intently at Hades, his eyes filled with questioning and anger.
"Weren't you following me the whole time?! Didn't you see who did it?!"
Hades was startled by the almost crazed look in Chi Ri's eyes. He subconsciously took a step back, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
"I didn't notice either..."
Hades shook his head and said calmly.
"After all, it's pitch black inside this tunnel, you can't see anything..."
"Useless! A bunch of useless trash!!"
The blazing sun roared, its voice echoing across the altar, making people's eardrums ache.
He slammed his foot on the altar with a loud bang.
"So many people, so many things, just vanished into thin air?! How is that possible?!"
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down, but the violent heaving of his chest betrayed his inner anxiety and unease.
"The only person capable of doing something like this... is..."
Hades' voice was very soft, as if he were talking to himself, or perhaps reminding the Crimson Sun.
"A Ghost-type Pokémon... and it's incredibly powerful..."
His gaze unconsciously drifted towards the depths of the tunnel, his eyes filled with apprehension.
"In the entire Sinnoh region, besides Ghost-type Pokémon, who else seems to possess this ability...?"
Hades' voice abruptly stopped; he seemed to have thought of something terrifying, and his face instantly turned pale.
“Darkrai…”
Chi Ri uttered the name with difficulty, wanting to deny Hades's guess. Logically, the trap he set for Xiao Zhi should have been flawless.
He'll definitely step in it.
Could it be that even Ash, who has lost his Aura and Darkrai, can't handle Planet Horror?
Chi Ri's back was already soaked with sweat.
Just then, a dark figure appeared silently on the altar.
It slowly appeared, its azure eyes gleaming with a cold, eerie light in the darkness, like two will-o'-the-wisps, sending chills down one's spine.
“Dar…”
A deep, hoarse voice echoed across the altar, like the whisper of death.
"Darkrai... Darkrai?!"
Hades cried out in terror, his body trembling uncontrollably.
Akari also retreated abruptly, staring intently at Darkrai, his eyes filled with shock and anger.
"It really is you! Ash!!"
He spoke through gritted teeth, each word seemingly squeezed out from between his teeth, filled with intense hatred.
He suddenly raised his head and roared at the empty altar.
"You think this will stop me?! You're so naive!!"
He pulled two magic balls from his waist and threw them out with a vengeance.
"Go! Gyarados! Crow Chief!"
Two white lights flashed, and two figures instantly appeared on the altar, one huge and one short.
Gyarados's deep blue scales reflected a cold luster in the dim light, its massive body coiled up like a small mountain; while Raven Head spread its jet-black wings, its sharp eyes like two daggers, locked on Darkrai, which was faintly visible in mid-air.
"Go get them! Take care of it!!"
Chi Ri's voice was hoarse, as if he had a handful of sand stuck in his throat. Every word carried a desperate madness. He no longer cared about manners or plans. Now he just wanted to tear this troublesome guy in front of him to pieces.
Gyarados and Ravenhead let out deafening roars that echoed across the empty altar, making everyone's eardrums ring. Like two out-of-control chariots, they charged headlong toward Darkrai.
Darkrai vanished from its spot in an instant, moving like a ghost between the two Pokémon with swift and elegant movements, as if dancing a death waltz.
"Gyarados, use Water Gun!"
"Chief Crow, launch a sneak attack on vital points!"
Chi Ri, like a gambler who had lost everything, kept issuing commands, his voice sharp and urgent, each word seemingly squeezed out from between his teeth.
Gyarados opened its gaping maw, and a powerful surge of water erupted from deep within its throat, instantly coalescing into a thick jet of water that shot out like a high-pressure water gun, blasting towards Darkrai with overwhelming force. The air exploded wherever the water jet passed, demonstrating its immense power.
The raven leader transformed into a black shadow, following closely behind. Its sharp claws gleamed with a cold light, like the scythe of death, silently slicing through the air, aiming straight for Darkrai's vitals.
However, Darkrai's figure flickered in the air, each time appearing just in time to avoid the attack. The water cannons blasted into the air, creating a spray of water everywhere, but the raven leader's claws only scratched the air in vain, unable to even touch a single feather of Darkrai.
Akari stared at the scene before him, his eyes nearly bleeding. He simply couldn't believe his eyes; his two powerful Pokémon couldn't even touch the hem of the other's clothes—it was utterly humiliating!
"To be able to dodge an attack from behind so easily... it's probably being directed by aura power," Hades murmured.
The gap between Pokémon and their trainers was ruthlessly revealed in front of the Spear Pillar.
Chi Ri clenched his fists, his eyes almost manic. He had already forgotten his rebuke of Huo Xing.
