Chapter 239: Completion of the First Trial
Chapter 239: Completion of the First Trial
“We did it…” Lysa said in a low voice, but there was not much relief in her tone. “At least for now, the expansion of the crack has stopped.”
Sophia slowly walked to the wreckage of the recycling device, her cold gaze sweeping over the ruins: "But this doesn't mean it's over. The true form of the Void Avatar has not yet appeared."
The observer supported himself with the Star Chart Scepter, his gaze fixed on the still faintly pulsating energy within the wreckage of the device: "It absorbed the last of the device's energy. We stopped the expansion of the crack, but in doing so, we also provided it with an opportunity for further evolution."
"You mean, we helped it?" the Arbiter said coldly, a hint of anger in his voice. "If that's the case, what's the point of this battle?"
“The significance lies in the fact that it did not completely control the power of the rules.” The observer raised his head, a complex look in his eyes. “But we need to prepare to face a more powerful embodiment of nothingness.”
Just as the guardians caught their breath, a suffocating pressure slowly rose from the depths of the abyss. The entire void energy field began to tremble, and countless dark red lights converged from all directions to a single point, gradually coalescing into a massive entity.
“It’s here,” Sophia said coldly, frost covering her armor as she prepared for a new battle.
Everyone looked up into the distance, where a figure far larger than any of the previous Void Splits had appeared. The Void Avatar's true form slowly emerged from the abyss, its shape far more complex than the previous splits: its body was composed of countless fragments of rules and Void energy, each fragment radiating an aura of destruction and chaos. At the center of its chest was a massive "Void Core," its core shimmering with interwoven red and gold light, as if it were the heart of the entire rift.
The Void Avatar opened its empty eye sockets, its deep and majestic voice echoing throughout the Void energy field: "Foolish guardians, your struggles will only make me stronger. Rules and Void are one; your resistance goes against the very nature of the universe."
"Enough with the nonsense!" The Arbiter charged forward, his twin blades blazing with intense flames as he slashed at the Void Avatar's body. His attack, fueled by rage and unyielding will, cleaved through the Void Avatar's surface, but the severed energy fragments quickly reformed, even forming more tentacles to retaliate against the Arbiter.
"It's using the power of the rules to reshape itself!" the observer shouted. "Don't attack its body directly, that will only make it stronger!"
Sophia swiftly raised her hands, an ice barrier enveloping the Arbiter and halting the tentacles' further attack. She said coldly, "If a direct attack is ineffective, what should we do?"
“We must find its void core.” The observer stared at the shimmering core on the void avatar’s chest. “That is its source of power, and also its weakness.”
"Alright, then smash it!" Kane's eyes blazed with a fanatical fighting spirit. He conjured two enormous balls of flame in his hands and slammed them into the core of the Void Avatar.
However, a dark red barrier suddenly appeared on the chest of the Void Avatar, and the fire attack was directly reflected back by the barrier, almost hitting Kane himself.
“The barrier’s strength far exceeds our expectations.” Sofia frowned. “We’ll have a hard time breaking through this level of defense.”
The observer analyzed the barrier structure of the avatar of nothingness with the Star Chart Scepter, his brow furrowed and sweat beading on his forehead: "The barrier has periodic energy fluctuations. At its lowest point, the barrier's strength weakens to the point where it can be attacked."
“It’s that cycle again!” the adjudicator said impatiently. “We don’t have much time to calculate its fluctuations.”
“Listen! If you mess things up, we’ll never have a chance to destroy it,” the observer replied coldly.
"Stop arguing!" Lysa interrupted their argument, raising her spear high, its golden light pointing directly at the core of the Void Avatar. "The Observer will take command, and I will lead the attack. You cover me and make sure I can hit the target when the barrier weakens."
Kane and Sofia exchanged a glance and nodded simultaneously. Despite their differences, at this crucial moment in the battle, they all chose to trust each other.
Guided by the observers, the guardians focused their power, preparing to launch a fatal blow the moment the barrier weakened.
"Three seconds left!" the observer shouted. "Ready!"
Leisa concentrated all his energy into his spear, and the golden light gradually coalesced into a dazzling pillar of light, pointing directly at the core of the Void Avatar.
"Three, two, one—now!" the observer shouted.
Lysa leaped into the air, his spear aimed at the Void Avatar's chest. Simultaneously, Sophia's frost and Kane's flames intertwined, creating a massive energy wave that cleared the path for Lysa. Meanwhile, the Arbiter used his twin blades to block the Void Avatar's tentacles, buying time for the team.
The moment the spear pierced the barrier, it erupted with blinding light. The Void Avatar let out a deafening roar, and the entire Void Abyss began to tremble violently.
Although the barrier was pierced, the core of the Void Avatar was not fatally damaged. Instead, its power became even more ferocious due to its rage. The Void energy around the rift began to spiral out of control, and countless fragments of rules surged from the abyss, mixing with the Void energy to form a more complex attack.
The observer's face turned pale: "It's using the energy from the crack to try and destroy us! We must retreat and reorganize our next attack."
"Retreat?" The Arbiter sneered. "You can leave now, I will stay here and continue the fight."
"Stop being reckless!" Lysa said sharply. "We need a complete plan, not pointless sacrifices!"
Despite their reluctance, the Arbiter ultimately chose to retreat with the group. Protected by Sophia's frost barrier, the Guardians were temporarily out of the Void Avatar's attack range.
At the deepest part of the rift, the true form of the Void Avatar was fully revealed. This was an existence that could not be described in simple language; its form resembled a massive vortex of interwoven rules and void energy, its core shimmering with a chilling alternation of red and gold light. This vortex was not static, but rotated in an extremely distorted manner, each rotation releasing powerful energy fluctuations that caused the entire rift space to tremble.
"This is its true form?" Kane's voice was tinged with astonishment, and the flames he gathered in his hands became unstable under the pressure emanating from the ethereal avatar.
“This is not merely its physical form,” the observer said solemnly, scanning the energy fluctuations of the avatar with his Star Chart Scepter. “It is an amalgamation of rules and the power of nothingness. It can directly distort our attacks, converting all energy into its own power.”
