Mystery: But the Witch's Path

Chapter 45 Trading

Chapter 45 Trading

While Altair was still shaking his head at the extraordinary quality of the materials used in this gathering, a hooded man emerged from a room deep inside, the door creaking open.

He casually began to sized up the people who had come to the party with an air of superiority.

When he saw Altair, the corners of his mouth turned up noticeably. He casually summoned the servant beside him, handed him the note, and pointed at Altair.

Altair, who was still looking at the "blackboard," was interrupted by a servant who approached him. After taking the note from his hand, the servant said, "This is from Mr. A."

Hearing the servant's words, Altair casually unfolded the folded note, glanced at it, and read:

"The goods are ready. Let's go into the inner room to make the transaction."

Altair turned his head and looked into the depths of the hall, where he saw Mr. A already standing at the door, waiting.

Guided by the servant, Altair went directly to the door without any hindrance. Upon opening the door, he saw Mr. A sitting alone on a single sofa, with several sealed boxes on the coffee table.

After entering, Altair casually closed the door and walked straight to sit down opposite Mr. A.

Mr. A said in a deep voice, "The items you ordered last time are all in these boxes. Would you like to take a look?"

Mr. A's words immediately drew Altair's attention to the boxes. He casually picked up two and said, "We've always recognized Mr. A's abilities. But I'm really sorry, we still need to check them to ensure the items are correct."

Mr. A did not feel the slightest dissatisfaction with Altair's behavior, but watched him conduct the inspection.

After breaking the 'seal' with the silver dagger and opening the two boxes, Altair looked inside each box.

One box contained: "A heart tinged with pale blue, now sparkling, its surface shimmering with dreamlike colors, like a diamond illuminated by light."

The other box contained a fist-sized, bright red sphere that resembled a heart, slightly expanding and contracting, with a semi-transparent surface and liquid flowing inside.

After confirming the items, I simply closed the box.

Altair smiled and said to Mr. A:

"It seems Mr. A, your efficiency is quite fast. It has only been less than 6 days since we notified you to purchase these materials, and you have already gathered them all."

Mr. A did not react to Altair's compliment, but calmly said, "'Vampire' extraordinary trait costs 1700 pounds. We sacrificed some members to obtain this extraordinary trait, and its special nature is worth the premium."

"Sequence 7 'Psychotherapist' Extraordinary Trait Ranking 1200".

"Sequence 7 'Witch' Extraordinary Trait Ranking 1200".

"Sequence 7 'Appraiser' Extraordinary Trait Ranking 1100".

"Sequence 7 'Arsonist' Extraordinary Trait Ranking 1200".

...........

"Five sets, the extraordinary characteristics of Sequence Seven, totaling 7000 lists."

Mr. A's words left Altair speechless, not because of the price, but because a Sequence Five player was so desperate for money. Left with no other choice, Altair opened his wallet, took out a wad of banknotes, and handed it to Mr. A to pay the balance.

He shook his head at the matter, thinking to himself, "No wonder the Aurora Society transformed from a 'righteous god' organization in the Fourth Era into a 'wicked god' organization in the Fifth Era."

"So all the fame we have now was earned through bloodshed."

After receiving the final payment, Mr. A immediately began inspecting the items.

Altair sighed helplessly as he watched him begin the examination, thinking to himself...

"In today's society, any organization cannot function without the concept of operating funds."

"Especially for secretive organizations like the Aurora Society, which are openly considered 'evil god' organizations, they cannot accept donations from believers by having a large number of followers, unlike 'righteous god' churches."

"The methods of 'mastering' something don't offer any special money-making potential. As for investing, the results are slow, and there's no guarantee of profitability."

"Therefore, the organization's operating funds can only be provided by a few 'high-ranking' individuals who take on jobs such as assassinations to earn money to support the organization."

"When Altair first saw this channel provided by Uncle Rafe, he was deeply moved. It turned out that many organizations had already started doing the 'on-demand killing' business."

.........

After counting the money, Mr. A, holding the extra cash, asked, "Is there anything else I need?"

Finding counting money too troublesome, Altair simply gave him 10,000 pounds, leaving him with 5,000 pounds after deducting the final payment.

Looking at the remaining money, Altair said directly to Mr. A, "We need three more copies of the 'Witch's' extraordinary properties, and we also need the higher-level sequences that follow."

"Acquire the characteristics and materials from the 'Hunter' route, from low to high quality."

"The 'Pharmacist' pathway requires only Sequence 6 or higher attributes."

"The 'audience' approach only requires Sequence 6 and above characteristics."

"The extraordinary traits of 'Traveler' or 'Arcanist' are urgently needed."

"Knowledge of crafting extraordinary items is also in high demand."

"This extra money is a deposit. Once the materials for that channel are no longer needed, I will notify you to stop the acquisition."

Mr. A glanced at Altair, who was still speaking, and said in a hoarse voice, "Aren't you afraid I'll kill you right now and run away with the money?"

Altair didn't believe he would actually do that, even though most of the members of the Aurora Society were "crazy," it depended on what they were talking about.

A person who goes crazy for no reason is "mentally ill," but this is not the same concept as a "crazy" fanatic like them.

Altair looked at him and said with a smile:

"I don't believe you would dare to do this so casually. You should know how I contacted you."

"If anything happens to me, I believe the Aurora Society will be subjected to a full-scale attack by the Rune Army."

"You will become a sinner of the Aurora Society. When others find out that this was all because you were greedy for 5, I think they will skin you alive."

Altair's threat didn't make the atmosphere in the room awkward. Mr. A smiled and said, "You're right. Your performance makes me want to recruit you into our Aurora Club. You're even more 'arrogant' than me."

The simplest way to deal with a "madman" is to be even more "mad" than him, making him feel afraid.

Altair stood up abruptly, put away the box containing the extraordinary properties, and said, "There is no conflict of interest between us. Cooperation is the best solution, isn't it?"

"You lack money, while we have money. I lack exceptional qualities, while you 'have' exceptional qualities. Direct transactions are in the best interests of both of us."

"I'm leaving now. I hope that when we meet again, you can bring me even more extraordinary qualities."

........

Altair didn't wait for Mr. A's farewell, but walked out of the unremarkable detached house alone.

Only after getting into the waiting carriage at the street corner did they feel relieved. After the carriage had traveled a certain distance, the fully armed men who had been lying in ambush near the houses began to leave one after another.

When attending Mr. A's party, how could Altair not do some insurance? He's not stupid enough to knowingly jump into a trap.

Before entering, Altair instructed Simon and the others that if he did not appear within a certain period of time, they should launch a full-scale attack on the gathering.
