Chapter 64 Thor
Chapter 64 Thor
"There's no need for these formalities; I know your purpose."
Shendu looked at the sorcerer's robes: "You agreed to cooperate with us not only because of the uncontrollable clash between Captain Marvel's power and Wanda's chaos magic, but also partly because you coveted our power."
Wang's heart skipped a beat upon hearing the Holy Lord's words. He had indeed thought so; he had had this thought since the first time he discovered that his magic was rejected by the Holy Lord's aura.
Wanda stood behind Shendu, chaos magic swirling at her fingertips, watching King and Mordo with a wary expression.
"Don't waste time," the Holy Lord's tone turned cold. "Take me to the secret chamber deep within the library. Don't try anything funny. You know very well what happened in the mirror space back then. You couldn't resist us."
Wang sighed, exchanged a glance with Mordo, and put away his mage's robes: "Follow me. The secret chamber is on the lowest floor of the library, protected by a magic circle that has been guarded by Kamar-Taj for generations. Only I can open it."
The Holy Lord nodded slightly, and led Wanda, following the King step by step into the depths of the library, finally stopping in front of an ancient door.
The king's finger moved in the air, and a magic circle appeared out of thin air and imprinted on the door. A cloud of dust rose, and the door was opened.
The secret room was sparsely decorated, containing only two chairs and an altar surrounded by books.
Wang walked confidently to a corner of the room, picked up a dusty book, and said, "You may browse any of the others except this one, but you can only read one."
Just as the Holy Lord was making his choice, a sacred magical aura emanated from outside the Sanctuary.
The Holy Lord frowned, annoyed by the interruption. He turned and gave Wanda a look, and Wanda, understanding, turned and walked towards the entrance of the Sanctuary.
Before long, Wanda returned to Shendu's side: "A tangible rainbow appeared outside, and a man with a hammer walked out of the rainbow."
The Holy Lord raised an eyebrow. The rainbow bridge and the man holding the hammer—it must be Thor, the God of Thunder.
"Master," Wanda added in a low voice, as if remembering something, "he has an aura similar to yours."
Hearing Wanda's words, Shendu frowned, sensing a similar aura to his own.
He extended his senses outward, and the Sanctuary's alarm system sounded again. The king frowned and looked at the Holy Lord, saying, "This is the Sanctuary. If you want to act recklessly, even if we are no match for you, we will still take action against you."
The Holy Lord waved his hand: "Calm down, it's just a reconnaissance mission. You sensed the aura outside just now, didn't you? Aren't you curious?"
Wang remained calm and composed, saying, "I'm not interested in things outside of dimensions. As long as there's no invasion from other dimensions, we won't interfere."
The Holy Lord withdrew his senses, the alarms within the Sanctuary ceased, and the King let out a cold snort.
"It's good that you know to stop," Mordo said coldly.
The Holy Lord ignored Mordo's provocation. He had already discerned what Wanda meant by the aura—Thor possessed the aura of the Bull Talisman.
"Interesting." A dangerous smile curled at the corner of the Holy Lord's lips.
The Holy Lord ignored Thor outside and turned his gaze back to the books around him.
The Book of Darkness, The User's Guide to the Eye of Agamotto...
Finally, the Holy Lord placed his hand on the Book of Darkness.
Wang frowned as he looked at the Holy Lord's choice. He had thought the Holy Lord would choose "The Guide to Using the Eye of Agamotto" to combine the magic of this world with his own power, but he did not expect the Holy Lord to choose this book.
"Think carefully. Even if you read this book, you can't use the abilities within it. If we discover any traces of dark magic, we won't hesitate to take action."
The Holy Lord took the Book of Darkness in his hand and laughed, "Little King, you're overreacting. So-called power isn't determined by its attributes."
The Holy Lord looked at the magic circle in the room: "Whether the magic you create is reasonable or not is entirely up to you. It's all just your subjective assumptions."
"Whether power is good or evil is determined by the user."
Wang Yijiu did not back down: "The Book of Darkness is different; it bewitches people and plunges them into darkness forever."
"That's only for you; that's your world's understanding," the Holy Lord said calmly.
He raised his hand, an orange-yellow power emanating from his palm: "Do you still think it will erode my mind?"
Looking at the domineering power in the Holy Lord's palm, Wang's tense body relaxed a little, but the vigilance in his eyes did not dissipate in the slightest.
"The Dark Book grows stronger by tempting greed, anger, and fear in one's heart."
In front of the King and Mordo, the Holy Lord disregarded their objections and opened and closed the Book of Darkness as if he were casually flipping through a novel.
"Unfortunately, I don't have these things in my heart, or rather, I don't need these emotions to fill my strength."
The Holy Lord raised his eyes, looked at the King through the pages of the book, and said with a hint of sarcasm, "Only the weak hold power in awe, while the strong choose to control it."
Wang stood aside without trying to stop him. He recalled the scene where his magic was rejected by the aura of the Holy Lord. Perhaps this person in front of him really could control dark magic.
The moment the Holy Lord closed the book again, his fingers quickly arranged a magic circle on the pages, and an invisible black ripple spread from the book in his hand.
Outside the Holy of Holies.
Thor, who had just landed, was looking at the strange building in front of him with a puzzled expression, holding his hammer. Just moments before, he had keenly sensed an evil aura emanating from the building.
"This smell."
Thor frowned, picking at his nose with his finger in disgust. "This smell is nauseating."
He gripped the hammer tightly, arcs of electricity crackling across it, and the once clear sky suddenly became overcast.
A blinding bolt of lightning struck down, directly hitting the barrier of the Sanctuary and creating a magical ripple.
Inside the secret chamber, Mordo's expression changed: "That god from Asgard outside seems to harbor great malice towards us; he actually attacked us."
Wang also looked puzzled, his hands already prepared to cast a spell at any moment. He wouldn't hesitate if Thor barged in.
Unlike the others, the Holy Lord put away the Book of Darkness and said, "Young Master, your guest seems quite impolite. Perhaps I should go and entertain him for you?"
Wang's heart sank. He knew very well that the person in front of him was not as harmless as he appeared. If he made a move, everything would be inexplicable.
"The guests of the Sanctuary don't need outsiders to entertain them, so you don't need to lift a finger." After frowning, Wang said to Mordo, "Keep an eye on them and don't let them touch any other ancient texts. I'll handle things outside."
