Chapter 17: Secret Intrusion Exists
Chapter 17: Secret Intrusion Exists
"What's wrong, young lady? What happened?"
"Waaaaaaah!"
Lucy was startled by Qin Wuying and screamed without warning.
As soon as he received Lucy's call, he opened a portal, jumped lightly, and entered Lucy's office.
"Next time, teleport to the door and then knock before coming in!"
"Oh, sorry." Qin Wuying scratched the back of his head. He was in a hurry and was afraid that Lucy was in trouble and couldn't get away.
Lucy took out her phone and pressed play on a recording.
"For the next period of time, your main task is... to pay attention to..."
She quickly adjusted the volume, deliberately turning the sound up to the maximum.
Then he took a photo out of his pocket and handed it to Qin Wuying.
"This is…?"
"Take a look first, and you'll understand."
The photo shows a place that looks like an armory, filled with various common firearms and artillery.
Two staff members appear to be taking inventory.
One person has their back to the camera, making their identity impossible to discern, while another person's profile is partially visible.
A greenish profile.
Qin Wuying's body jolted violently.
"Where did the photos come from?"
"Someone from the R&D department sent it to me. Do you know this person?" Lucy asked anxiously in a low voice.
"He's not human, and there's more than one of them," Qin Wuying replied in a low voice.
He couldn't help but recall the drastically altered plot he had seen in "Secret Invasion," and suddenly felt a headache coming on.
"What do you mean?"
"This is a race, an alien race."
"An alien race...? We have employees like that in our company, but I had no idea."
"Perhaps they deliberately didn't let you know."
Qin Wuying quickly tucked the photo inside her shirt.
It would be best if he were the one to keep the photos.
As the daughter of the group's boss, it's still too dangerous for Lucy to have such a thing in her possession.
"Listen, these guys are Skrulls; they can transform into other people at will."
"Huh?! Then wouldn't that mean..."
Lucy raised her voice slightly in shock, and Qin Wuying quickly and gently covered her mouth.
"Just pretend you don't know anything; it's better for everyone."
"Whoa! How dare you treat me like this!"
"I'm just worried you'll attract unnecessary attention, there are so many security personnel around you."
After repeatedly reminding him to be careful, Qin Wuying pushed open the door and walked out of the office.
His thoughts were in turmoil, and his mind was in complete disarray.
If a Skrull appears within the group, it means there's definitely more than just one.
They will use their race's special abilities to constantly forge identities or take the place of others.
So, are there Skrulls among the current top executives of Stark Industries?
What about the whole of New York City? What about the whole planet?
Thinking about all this, Qin Wuying felt a chill run down her spine.
It seems that in this universe, events on almost every timeline have become incredibly chaotic.
The sequence of events is chaotic, and the relationships between the characters are also chaotic.
There are even characters that don't exist in other universes, such as the current company boss, Ral Stark.
Speaking of which, Lal is quite mysterious. Qin Wuying has never seen a picture of him, and there is no image of him in any news or information.
"Hey, who are you anyway, kid?"
Qin Wuying, who was walking briskly down the corridor with her head down in thought, was elbowed by a male employee in a suit.
"What's your background? I used to be in Kamar-Taj."
Qin Wuying recognized this person; he also worked in the security department and was usually responsible for security checks on the floor above Lucy's office.
That's not what you're asking.
"What is that?"
"Why are you and the young lady so close? You've been in and out of her office twice today."
"Is there anything strange about it?"
"It's inexplicable," Qin Wuying thought.
It's normal to need to enter and exit your boss's or leader's office for work purposes.
When Qin Wuying looked up, she saw her colleague's eyes wide open.
"You actually asked what's so strange about it! You know, I've worked here for almost six years and I've never been inside even once!"
"Almost six years?" Qin Wuying mused.
"Yes, six years. Do you know how I spent those six years?!"
"Wait a minute," Qin Wuying interrupted his colleague, not wanting him to launch into a long, boring tale.
"Since you've been here for six years, you must know when Mr. Ral Stark took over, right?"
"Of course I know. He already held a high position in the group. After that incident, everyone elected him as the top chairman."
Needless to say, Qin Wuying knew that the matter was about Tony Stark being trapped in the cave.
He just didn't know why no one was willing to discuss it openly with others.
"Thank you for sharing, but I have to go now."
Qin Wuying patted her male colleague on the shoulder, then strode away.
"Hey! Don't go! You still haven't told me how to get along with my beautiful boss!"
"That's a secret," Qin Wuying said, then quickly left.
Now he can't trust anyone; he must first figure out who the Skrulls are and who the real Earthlings are.
Lucy gave him the photo, so Lucy can trust him for now.
"Let's agree on a code word so we can confirm each other's identities."
After thinking it over, Qin Wuying still edited the message and sent it to Lucy.
To his surprise, the other party immediately replied in text: "Of course, no problem. How about we agree on 'prisoners in the pool'?"
...Why can't I get over this hurdle?
Qin Wuying typed "No problem" weakly and then turned off her phone screen.
Is this unpleasant nickname going to stay with me for the rest of my life?
No! I don't want that kind of thing!
"Buzz, buzz—" The phone, which had just turned off, vibrated again as if receiving a message.
"Now we have a shared secret, that's good."
A new message appeared in Lucy's chat window.
Qin Wuying had no idea what the other person's mood and expression were when they sent the message.
But his cheeks were already a little red.
Then, without thinking, he replied, "Yes, I think so too."
Next, he took the elevator, passing through ingeniously designed corridors and rooms of all shapes and sizes—
Finally, it stopped at the entrance of the R&D department's central control room.
He didn't have a access card for this place, so he could only wait there and see if anyone came in or went out.
"Uh, who are you looking for?"
Fortunately, within a few minutes, a person in a white uniform came out from inside.
"That's my guest, let him in!"
From inside the central control room came a man's voice that sounded very familiar to Qin Wuying.
