"—We're going to the gym!" Liu Miaomiao suddenly shouted. "We're just about to go to Century Star Gym!"
An eerie silence fell over both the inside and outside of the elevator.
Father Liu's face was gloomy. Although he knew that day would come, he did not expect that bastard Lu Mingfei would act so quickly.
It's only been a few days! My own precious daughter is already siding with outsiders.
"What are you doing at the gym?" Aunt Liu asked.
“Lu Mingfei said…” Liu Miaomiao lowered her head, her fingers twisting together, “that he’ll go to the gym to work out so he can protect me in the future!”
Lu Mingfei almost fainted on the spot when he heard this—how could this girl say such an embarrassing line directly!
Father Liu revealed a cruel smile, "You all come out first!"
Lu Mingfei and Liu Miaomiao stepped out of the elevator like two lambs to the slaughter, trembling with fear.
Mr. Liu stopped, and the elevator doors closed.
"Century Star Gym?" Liu's father's voice was frighteningly soft. "I remember that gym has couples' cards."
Liu Miaomiao suddenly looked up: "No! We..."
"We're really just going to exercise!" Lu Mingfei's voice trembled with anxiety. "Uncle Liu, if you don't believe us, you can come with us!"
Aunt Liu suddenly chuckled softly and gracefully took her husband's arm:
"Old Liu, the kids have said so, let's trust them this once!"
Father Liu looked helpless and waved his hand, "Alright, let's let it go this time!"
"Also, don't come to hotels anymore. They're not private or safe. Your home is big enough for you to mess around in!" Liu's father added.
Lu Mingfei and Liu Miaomiao immediately understood the meaning behind Liu's father's words, and their faces turned red instantly.
"Uncle Liu, don't worry, it's really just for training! We... we've already planned the training program! There's absolutely no other intention!" Lu Mingfei quickly explained.
All he wanted to do at that moment was crawl into a hole in the ground.
He secretly glanced at Liu Miaomiao and found that she was glaring at him with murderous eyes, obviously blaming him for talking too much.
Lu Mingfei quickly looked away.
Liu Miaomiao suddenly tugged at his sleeve and said in a voice only they could hear:
"When we get to the gym later, you better really get to work out properly!"
Lu Mingfei nodded, on the verge of tears, cursing the system a thousand times in his heart.
Mr. Liu nodded, said nothing more, and pressed the elevator button.
After watching Mr. and Mrs. Liu enter the elevator, Lu Mingfei breathed a sigh of relief.
Just then, the system's cold, mechanical voice suddenly rang out.
[Lu Mingfei, are you going to play a game with me?]
Chapter 25 Rock-Paper-Scissors Game
Lu Mingfei's heart, which had just been put at ease, was instantly raised to his throat again by the system.
Playing games? It's never a good thing.
But if you refuse outright... there's no guarantee the system won't make things difficult for you later.
"System Bro, what game do you want to play?"
[In this game of rock-paper-scissors, I can only play 'fist,' while you must play 'paper' three times in a row.]
[You won! Here's a small gift for you!]
Upon hearing the rules, Lu Mingfei's lips twitched involuntarily—what kind of game is this? It's simpler than doing arithmetic on your fingers!
But the lingering doubt in my heart wouldn't go away—would the system really be that honest?
To play or not to play?
“Play! But you don’t even have a physical form right now, how can you play?” Lu Mingfei couldn’t help but ask.
[It's simple, just think of 'cloth' three times in your mind!]
"Is it really that simple?" he subconsciously asked himself.
【if not? 】
Lu Mingfei secretly curled his lip, concentrated his mind, and began this childish contest with the invisible system.
"First round, rock-paper-scissors!" He confidently simulated "paper" in his mind. The system indeed played "fist" as predicted.
"Second round, rock-paper-scissors!" The system still indicated "fist".
"The third round..." The system remained unchanged, displaying only a "fist".
Lu Mingfei was completely dumbfounded—had the sun risen in the west? When did this system become so... simple-minded?
[Okay, the little gift has been deposited into your account!]
[Remember: Never use this unless you're in a life-or-death situation!]
Lu Mingfei's heart skipped a beat. Why did those words sound... like the tragic solemnity of someone giving their last words?
Starting today, I'm on a long vacation. Don't even think about finding me for the next year!
I've arranged your itinerary for the next year; just follow along!
Lu Mingfei's heart sank—what the hell is going on?
The system even offers holidays? And these holidays last for a whole year?!
He's only been connected to this system for two days at most!
"System Bro? You guys... also have an annual leave system?" he tentatively called out in his mind.
Silence. A deathly silence.
The "system guy" who used to respond to him immediately is now nowhere to be found.
A strong premonition gripped Lu Mingfei's heart—the system might not be coming back.
Just then, a completely emotionless, mechanical voice rang in Lu Mingfei's mind.
[Please note that there is 1 hour and 50 minutes remaining until the mission to confront Su Xiaoqiang!]
"It's still here!" Lu Mingfei thought to himself, utterly speechless. "This damn system is just fooling me again."
Looking at Lu Mingfei, whose expression was changing, Liu Miaomiao wondered what was wrong with him now, his face kept changing.
"Lu Mingfei, are you going to the gym or not?" she couldn't help but ask.
Lu Mingfei snapped out of his daze and said, "Yes, of course I'll go!"
“But we need to go get lunch first!” Lu Mingfei added.
……
Deep inside the Genji Heavy Industries building in Tokyo, Japan.
A sealed room made of special steel, with walls up to 30 centimeters thick, large enough to imprison the world's most ferocious beasts.
However, at this moment, inside the cage is a girl dressed in a red and white shrine maiden outfit.
The girl's name was Erii, and her long, dark red hair cascaded down like a waterfall.
Her face was calm as still water, only her light footsteps betrayed her inner joy.
The dream she had this morning was still lingering in her mind—she had met a knight named Lu Mingfei.
The dream was unbelievably real; every detail was imprinted in her memory, and she even clearly remembered the knight's voice.
She desperately wanted to share this wondrous dream with her brother, but a voice from the depths of her being warned her:
This secret must be kept until the real Lu Mingfei is met.
Erii's lips curled up slightly.
Even if it was just a dream, it was enough for her to cherish—because in the dream, she was able to talk to people fluently for the first time, a luxury that could never be realized in the real world.
Erii was unaware, and no one in the entire Genji Heavy Industries noticed—behind that half-meter-thick bulletproof glass window, a tall, slender figure had been standing for quite some time.
The young man stood frozen like a sculpture, his gaze piercing through the thick glass, greedily capturing every detail of the girl in the room.
Her slightly upturned lips, her light, butterfly-like steps, and the dark red strands of hair swaying with her movements... all of this stirred a bittersweet warmth in the man's chest.
That emotion was so subtle, like morning mist permeating the entire space, or like the tide under the moonlight, gently engulfing one.
"Aren't you going to see her, brother?" A childish voice suddenly broke the silence.
The man frowned slightly and turned to look at the boy who had appeared out of nowhere.
The boy was casually fiddling with the guard's sidearm, the metal parts clanging crisply in his hands.
"Get out." The man's voice was as cold as ice.
The boy exaggeratedly raised his hands and backed away, shouting, "I'm leaving now, I'm leaving now!"
As he retreated to the guard's side, he suddenly reached into the guard's pocket and pulled out a set of keys.
"Look! I found the room key! Aren't you going in to see her?" He dangled the keychain, his smile naively blatant.
The man remained unmoved, his gaze fixed once again on the figure behind the glass.
This reaction infuriated the boy, who slammed the key to the ground, the metallic clang echoing down the corridor.
"That's not her! Your Erii is long dead!" The boy's voice suddenly rose.
“I know.” The man’s response was eerily calm.
"You killed her! Because of your cowardice! Because of your running away!" The boy lunged at him and grabbed his collar.
"I know." That remains the same answer.
The boy suddenly let go of his hand, took a half step back, and looked at the man who looked utterly despondent.
“Lu Mingfei,” he said, his voice filled with unprecedented weariness, “you have already lost, lost to a fate you cannot defy.”
The young man's gaze passed over the boy's shoulder and fell back on the girl in the room.
