Chapter 67 Eating Alive
Chapter 67 Eating Alive
Despite being exhausted by what had happened right in front of him, Li Zheng dared not fall into a deep sleep under any circumstances.
He was worried that if he fell into a deep sleep, Zhang Jingjing and Dou Xiang would sneak into the room while he was sleeping.
But things often don't go as planned, and before he knew it, Li Zheng had fallen asleep.
He was sleeping when he suddenly jolted awake.
The chill around him prompted him to instinctively pull the blanket next to him over himself.
"Why do I feel cold in the middle of summer?"
This thought flashed through Li Zheng's mind in an instant, and he suddenly came to his senses.
At the same time, a faint rustling sound could be heard from the courtyard outside the gate.
"Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh—"
The sound was like the friction of a stone block being moved on the ground; it sounded rhythmic and slow.
Gradually, the sound became clearer.
And they were slowly approaching their house.
The sound alerted Li Zheng. He didn't dare to get up, so he could only slightly lift the corner of the blanket and peek towards the door.
What puzzled him even more was that, despite the clear blue sky and bright sunshine outside, no sunlight was shining through the door.
"Even though the door is covered with blackout paper, it shouldn't be completely dark."
Before Li Zheng could figure out the reason, he suddenly heard a sound from above. The sound was muffled, like the thud of a heavy metal object being moved.
The next second, Li Zheng quickly closed his eyes, wrapped himself tightly in the blanket, and lay stiffly on the bed, not daring to move at all.
A terrifying thought suddenly popped into his mind.
He thought that the light outside the door was being blocked, blocked by something huge.
The thing was standing at his doorway, bent over, head bowed, staring intently at him through the roof.
After the thought crossed Li Zheng's mind, the back of his clothes was instantly soaked with cold sweat.
An indescribable terror pressed down on him, almost suffocating him.
Fortunately, the enormous creature outside did not stay at Li Zheng's residence for long.
Seemingly because it couldn't find what it wanted, it paused for a few minutes and then moved toward another room.
However, this time, the things outside didn't linger for long.
"Squeak—creak—"
A door was pushed open from the side, and the next second, a scream rang out—it was Dou Xiang's voice.
From time to time, there were thumping sounds coming from the roof, as if something had fallen onto it. Then, a faint scraping sound appeared overhead.
A faint smell of blood filled Li Zheng's nostrils, and Dou Xiang's inhuman screams sent chills down Li Zheng's spine, but they only lasted a few seconds before disappearing.
The sounds of chewing, mixed with the crisp cracking of bones being bitten, continued for a long time.
Li Zheng dared not think any further. He stared at the ceiling in terror, barely daring to breathe. The creatures outside seemed to be enjoying their meal, and only stopped eating after a long time.
A moment later, the rustling sound rang out again, and the thing left the three people's courtyard and moved towards the courtyard where Zhao Hu and the others lived.
Li Zheng stared intently at the door, the silhouette on the window gradually changing, and his pupils slowly contracted.
It was a huge monster with six arms, wielding weapons.

"Bang—bang—bang—"
"It's already late afternoon—the weather is dry—be careful with fire—"
When Su Zixu was awakened by the sound of the clapper, he found himself asleep on the table in the main hall.
The two of them went back to their rooms to sleep in the morning, and Su Zixu fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
After an unknown amount of time, he was awakened by a rustling sound outside. Immediately afterwards, he felt the light in the room being blocked, and a terrifying sense of oppression came from above.
Su Zixu was so frightened that he didn't dare to breathe, but fortunately, the things outside didn't stay for long before leaving.
After that ghostly thing was completely gone, Yue Zheng Feng Ye got up and went to Su Zixu's room.
"It seems this is what Master Lu is feeding," Yue Zhengfengye said quietly, gazing towards the door.
Su Zixu was wide awake now. Worried that something might go wrong, he said, "Senior Liu, let me keep watch. You can go back to sleep for a while."
After saying this, Su Zixu walked towards the main hall.
"Okay, just call me when you're sleepy."
After saying that, Yue Zheng Fengye went back to lie down, leaving Su Zixu with only his back turned.
Nothing strange happened until the night watchman rang the fifth watch.
"Thank you for your hard work, Brother Su. Go change and wash up quickly, we'll have a rare chance to visit each other later."
"I'm also the oldest among the 15 people, so it's going to be quite lively for us right now."
As Yue Zhengfengye spoke, he stretched, seemingly having had a good sleep.
After Su Zixu lit the incense, the two went to wash up and change their clothes.
Sure enough, just after five o'clock, Lin Tian pushed open the door and walked in. "Damn, the sun is blazing outside, this awful weather is unbearably hot."
After saying that, she quickly walked to the table, poured herself a glass of water, and gulped down two mouthfuls.
"Master, the thing that appeared when we were sleeping must be an evil spirit, right? They're raising this kind of thing," Lin Tian said.
"Yes, I can see the door from my room. The outline of that evil thing looks a bit like Shakya, but I haven't seen the real thing, so I can't be sure."
A hint of doubt flashed in Lezheng Fengye's eyes, as if he had thought of something.
