“It is her good fortune to be chosen by the master.” Before Su could speak, Ruichinele was already displeased, standing coldly in front of the leopard chieftain, staring at him with a sinister gaze.
The leopard-man chieftain initially stared at her defiantly, but considering their current situation, he slowly lowered his head and acquiesced.
"I'm leaving." Su said to Ricky Naylor, and Christo, feeling nervous and uneasy, teleported directly to the Green Point apartment in Brooklyn, New York.
The house in Liangchen Town is still under renovation, and Olivia has not yet arrived in Midnight Town. During this period, Su plans to stay temporarily at Green Point Apartments. On the one hand, the cost of living in New York is higher, and on the other hand, she can take advantage of the free time to continue learning painting skills from Jocelyn.
Of course, being close by means I can spend more time with Sarah Blake.
Furthermore, these weren't Su's real objectives. He wanted to study Jocelyn's, or rather, the Shadow Hunter's, Angel Blade to see how different it was from the Angel Blade of the Angels. Also, if I remember correctly, there's a Sisterhood of Steel within the Shadow Hunters, specifically responsible for intelligence gathering and crafting Angel Blades for the Shadow Secret Society; that's something to look into as well.
-
The sun was shining brightly, and a gentle breeze was blowing.
Su stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at Manhattan across the river, when she heard light footsteps behind her. Turning around, Su smiled brightly at Sarah Blake, who was dressed to the nines: "You're here. I'm going to trouble you to take me around spending money again."
Sarah Blake smiled and said, "This time you don't need to look around. I know an antique shop owner who has a lot of artistic antiques. There should be a lot of things you like."
"Young boss?" Su asked with a smile.
Sarah Blake chuckled and shook her head. "An old man named Abraham. By the way, could you explain why a cat opened the door for me, and why there was a black panther in your living room? If you hadn't warned me on the phone not to be frightened, I probably would have run out immediately. It was terrifying."
"How about my new hobby?" Su asked, raising an eyebrow with a smug look.
"A new hobby, keeping pets?" Sarah Blake couldn't help but complain, "Keeping pets is normal. Your cat is very intelligent, just like a person. But keeping a black panther is too dangerous, isn't it? If the neighbors find out that you keep such a large animal, especially such a wild one, they might complain about you, and then the police will cause you trouble."
Su explained dismissively, "Don't worry, even if someone complains, I have a way to handle it. Let's go, let's go take a look at the antique shop you mentioned first."
Sarah Blake and Sue went downstairs. Sue told the cat and the black panther in the living room, "Luna, Christo, I'm going out for a bit. You two stay home and don't cause any trouble."
"Meow," the cat meowed.
Black Panther nodded in a very human-like manner.
Sarah Blake was amazed by this scene. It was one thing for cats to be intelligent, but it was incredible that a black panther could also seem to understand human speech.
Manhattan's Lower Manhattan, just across the river.
Su got out of Sarah Blake's car and looked around at the antique shop located on the corner of the street. To be honest, he was slightly disappointed by its size.
It was too small; it was more like a secondhand shop than an antique shop. If Sue hadn't trusted Sarah Blake's expertise and ability in this area, she would never have entered an antique shop that looked like it was selling fakes.
Pushing open the door, the store wasn't very big, and it was filled with all sorts of old-looking items. An old man with graying temples, dressed casually, came out after hearing the noise.
“Hi, Abel,” Sarah Blake greeted the old man with a smile. “This is Mr. Su, the friend I mentioned who loves art.”
Abraham smiled and nodded to Sue: "Hello, you can call me Abraham."
Sue looked at Abraham and frowned slightly: "You look familiar."
He didn't look particularly special; he was the kind of person you'd see in a crowd and then forget. But Su felt he looked familiar, as if she'd seen him somewhere before, and more than once.
"Is he a character from some American TV series?" Su asked, scrutinizing Abraham intently.
Abraham felt a little uncomfortable being stared at, and Sarah Blake also looked at Abraham with some surprise. Could this old man be some kind of supernatural being?
Su is actually a pretty simple person. You can understand his personality and preferences after spending some time with him. So far, apart from his new hobby of raising pets, he seems to only care about supernatural forces.
“I’m pretty sure we haven’t met.” Abraham was also a little flustered, but after thinking carefully for a long time, he was certain that he had never met Sue.
Ms. Su hummed in agreement, withdrawing her direct gaze, and then looked at the antiques in the shop. Regardless of their authenticity, many of them were suitable as home decorations, especially the few pieces of oriental porcelain. Ms. Su took a liking to them at first glance.
"This one, this one, and this one, I'll take them all." Mrs. Su casually pointed: "I won't haggle, but you have to guarantee that they are genuine."
“Uh…” Abraham was dumbfounded. Are you serious? This was the first time he had ever encountered such a way of buying antiques. You didn’t even look at them carefully, didn’t even ask the price, and just pointed at one and decided on it?
This is an antique, not a cabbage!
Seeing Abraham's bewildered expression, Sarah Blake laughed and said, "Didn't I tell you? He really loves these things."
“Well, I’ve never seen a customer buying antiques like this before. Uh, I’ll pack up the items you just asked for, but I need to calculate the price.” Abraham said, taking out a calculator and starting to tally the costs.
"Wait a minute." Su interrupted Abraham, turning to Sarah Blake and saying, "My favorite has chosen me. What about your suggestion?"
“I haven’t looked at it carefully yet.” Sarah Blake said, preparing to look around more closely, when suddenly the wind chimes rang, and a man in a trench coat, with a very British air, walked in.
Upon seeing this man, Ms. Su finally realized why she had been looking at Abraham so seriously, and she also knew which American TV series this was from.
The Immortal Forensic Doctor!
……
P.S.: There's not much plot to write about in *The Immortal Doctor*. This volume will likely focus mainly on the Immortal Doctor and some other scattered storylines. I need to catch up on *The Enchanted Woman*; I know about that series but haven't watched it yet.
Chapter 142 The Immortal Forensic Doctor
Henry Morgan took off his overcoat, glanced at Sue a few times, and asked with suspicion, "Sir, have we met somewhere before?"
Ms. Su shook her head: "First time meeting you."
Henry Morgan shook his head as well: "No, this is the first time I've met you, but you've definitely met me before. When I came in, you looked at me like you were seeing someone you knew, even with a sense of sudden realization. I'm curious, can you tell me where you've seen me before?"
Regardless of his expression or tone, Henry Morgan was very confident and certain.
“He just said I looked very serious,” Abraham reminded Henry Morgan, then explained, “We are father and son.”
Father and son?
Who is the father? Who is the son?
The father-son relationship between Abraham and Henry Morgan is like that of Zac Salvator and Stefan Salvator in Mystic Falls, where the older one is the apparent elder, but the younger one is actually the younger one.
Zach is ostensibly Stefan's uncle, but in reality, Stefan is Zach's uncle; Abel is ostensibly Henry's father, but in reality, Henry is Abel's father.
The difference is that Stefan is a vampire who is eternally young, while Henry Morgan, Sue doesn't know which category to classify him into.
He doesn't age or die; time seems to have no effect on him. But in every way, he is just like an ordinary human being. He needs to eat, drink, and relieve himself; he needs to breathe air; he can starve, die of thirst, or die from lack of oxygen; and he can also die from a fatal injury.
The only unusual thing is that after he dies, his body disappears and he is reborn naked in the nearby sea, returning to his pre-death healthy state.
A gift?
curse?
The TV series explained his method of achieving immortality, or rather, the reason behind it.
In 1814, Henry Morgan attempted to free three hundred slaves aboard the Queen of Africa, but he was shot and thrown into the sea by the captain.
After that, Henry Morgan's life seemed to freeze in that year, never aging, and each time he died, he would be reborn in the nearby sea, becoming a person who could live forever.
The reason for his immortality wasn't explained in the show, and even Henry Morgan himself didn't know. Initially, he told his wife his secret, but she later sent him to a mental hospital. Year after year passed, and immortality didn't bring him happiness. Instead, he could only watch helplessly as the people around him grew old and died. Because he didn't age, he had to move to a different place every ten years or so. Because he was immortal, he did many jobs, eventually ending up living among the dead, hoping to discover the secret of his immortality.
Now, he is a forensic pathologist.
A renowned forensic pathologist in New York City!
“Same reaction again.” Henry Morgan looked at Sue: “You’re so sure that Abel and I aren’t father and son, no… you think there’s something wrong with our father-son relationship!”
Sue shrugged. Countless years had honed Henry Morgan's "eagle eyes." This guy's observation and reasoning abilities were comparable to Sherlock Holmes. He could deduce a lot of things just from details of clothing and facial expressions.
"You don't actually know him, and you really think there's something wrong with their father-son relationship, do you?" Sarah Blake was somewhat surprised by Sue's tacit reaction and subconsciously looked at Henry Morgan.
Henry Morgan frowned: "You don't seem to think there's anything wrong with his judgment, but you're surprised that I could guess all this. It seems... we're not the only ones with secrets!"
"Would you like to have an open and honest talk?" Sue smiled and extended her hand to Henry Morgan.
Henry Morgan hesitated for a moment, then grasped Sue's hand: "Okay, let's go somewhere else..."
"Pfft!" Without warning, a kunai appeared from Su's other hand and pierced through Henry Morgan's body.
Henry Morgan gripped Sue's hand with a pained and ferocious expression, his eyes wide with astonishment as if he hadn't expected Sue to suddenly kill him.
Abraham, though surprised, was not too agitated. Sarah Blake, on the other hand, was startled by Sue's sudden killing and immediately turned around to lock the door and pull down the curtain to block the glass so that no one could see what was happening inside.
"Don't panic, the real show is about to begin." Sue pulled Sarah Blake back and looked at Henry Morgan, who had already fallen to the ground. "See you in a bit."
"You..." Henry Morgan's eyes glazed over and his body stiffened before he could finish speaking.
Then... something strange happened.
Henry Morgan's body had vanished into thin air. If it weren't for the bloodstains left on the ground, Sarah Blake would have thought she was hallucinating.
"What...what's going on?" Sarah Blake looked at Su Shi in shock.
Sue smiled and looked at Abraham's grim expression, explaining to Sarah, "Henry Morgan is an immortal man; he doesn't truly die. Every time he dies, he is reborn in the nearby sea. Abraham, you know what to prepare, don't I need to remind you?"
Abraham turned and picked up the trench coat that Henry Morgan had just taken off, then took out the car keys: "How do you know all this? Do you really know Henry?"
“We can talk about these issues later. I’ll take you to see Henry first.” Sue put her arm around Sarah Blake and put her other hand on Abraham’s shoulder.
"call out--"
At the beach, Sue appeared teleported with Sarah Blake and Abraham.
Sarah Blake was fine, as she was already used to teleportation, but Abraham was experiencing it for the first time. His old bones were really struggling to cope with the sudden teleportation, and he sat down on the ground and started retching.
Sue apologized to Abraham, then pointed to the sea and reminded Sarah Blake, "Do you see that?"
A head emerged from the sea; it was Henry Morgan.
He clearly saw the Su family and their group, and he also saw how they appeared in an instant. He was originally going to swim back to shore, but he stopped in surprise and stared at them in disbelief.
Sue took Henry Morgan's trench coat and headed to the beach. Then, something shocking happened again. Henry, Abel, and Sarah were all stunned and speechless.
Su was walking on the beach.
Step by step, as if walking on flat ground on the surging sea, he strolled up to Henry Morgan, grabbed him by the shoulder, and lifted him up, making him put on his trench coat.
Henry Morgan put on his trench coat in a daze, and was about to ask Sue how she did it when he suddenly felt dizzy and weightless. He involuntarily slumped to the ground and retched, just like Abel.

P.S.: I've suddenly noticed that many people seem to be making comments based on first impressions without actually reading the book. That's fine; everyone knows I check the book review section daily and reply to almost every post carefully—I've done this for years, with so many books. However, many comments are really too biased. Even if I explain in the comments, new readers might just see the post and leave without clicking to read my reply. This book itself has no exposure, and I really hope to retain a few new readers. I hope everyone can understand.
So if there are similar posts, I reply and then delete them the next day, trying to ensure the person who posted the thread sees my reply and retain as many new readers as possible.
Chapter 143 Immortality + Eight Gates Formation?
“Ugh…you…” Henry Morgan covered his mouth and looked up at Sue, but Sue grabbed him and Abel and teleported back into the antique shop once again.
