Chapter 439 Catherine vs. War Knight
Catherine wants to pinpoint the War Knight's identity by looking at his mount, as it's currently the only clue that can confirm his connection to the War Knight.
The idea was good, and the approach was correct, but unfortunately, she didn't get the result she wanted.
Nobody knows whose car that red Mustang is parked on the side of the road!
Left with no other option, Catherine turned to questioning the survivors, hoping to find clues. Unfortunately, the results were not ideal; the survivors did indeed recount many unusual things.
For example, not long ago a meteor fell into the town's river, polluting the water source. Then, the very next day, a demon appeared and attacked the town.
Devout believers quickly connected this to the prophecy in the Book of Revelation about the appearance of the War Knight, which convinced the survivors that the War Knight was in the town and that the chaos in the town was caused by the War Knight.
"Bang bang bang—bang bang—bang bang bang—" The camp door was suddenly knocked on rhythmically, and everyone was immediately startled, holding their breath in tension.
Rufus held the gun and peered through the peephole, then relaxed and opened the door.
"It's Roger."
The door opened, and a middle-aged man in a suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and looking somewhat disheveled slipped in.
Just as he was about to speak, Rufus suddenly pointed his gun at him.
At the same time, the survivors, who had relaxed, looked at him with panic and fear, or more precisely, into his eyes.
The eyes behind the gold-rimmed glasses were as black as ink.
"He's possessed by a demon!!!" someone shouted in terror.
"I'm possessed by a demon? How is that possible? This is..." He was about to explain with a bewildered expression, but then, as if remembering something, his expression turned extremely ugly.
"My eyes have turned black?" he asked Rufus, turning to him.
Rufus snorted coldly and said nothing, gesturing for the others to come and help.
"Damn it... How is this possible? How could this be?!" His expression was incredibly ferocious and furious, as if he had encountered something unforgivable.
I've actually been infected!
They were completely unaware that they had fallen under the genjutsu of that guy named Uchiha Itachi!
Damn it, damn it, damn it, why didn't I notice anything? And why is the method of this illusion so similar to my own?!
Seeing someone approaching and trying to control him, he sneered and rubbed his hands together, his fingers gently turning the ring on his right hand.
"It's him!"
"He is the War Knight!" Catherine, who had been watching him closely, instantly guessed his identity after noticing his subtle movements!
First of all, his behavior just now was very realistic. At first, he didn't believe that he was possessed by a demon at all, and then he seemed to realize something and became very angry.
Moreover, he showed no signs of panic throughout, remaining completely calm and composed, which contrasted sharply with the other survivors around him.
Catherine, who also enjoys being the mastermind behind things, understands why he reacted this way, because she would have done the same in that situation!
Without a doubt, this guy is definitely a War Knight. Most likely, he encountered Uchiha Itachi before coming here, and may have even been tricked.
What should we do now?
The objective of the assessment was within reach, and the ring was in his hand, but he was a war knight, and Catherine didn't know his strength. If he were exposed, she would probably be in trouble.
Wait a minute—he's a War Knight. Even if I don't make a move, he'll definitely discover my vampire identity as soon as he sees me.
Seeing his confident demeanor, I knew that if he controlled the situation, I would be in trouble just the same. It would be better to take advantage of the current chaos and make a move. As long as I could get his ring, my mission would be accomplished. Even if there were any trouble later, I could ask Uchiha Itachi for help.
With that in mind, Catherine made a decision.
Despite her seemingly long pause, only a moment had passed. Just as the War Knight turned the ring, Catherine suddenly grabbed a small knife and appeared before him in an instant. She pressed down on his hand with one hand and, with the other, brought the knife down.
"Pfft!"
The finger wearing the ring was severed, but Catherine reached out and grabbed it, then leaped backward.
The whole process was smooth and quick, almost instantaneous. By the time the War Knight cried out in pain and Rufus and the others realized what had happened, the outcome was already decided.
"What happened?"
"Look, Roger... Roger's eyes seem to have returned to normal!"
Everyone gasped in alarm, looking at Roger who was holding their hand; his eyes had indeed returned to normal.
"You...you're a vampire!!! Damn it, how dare you, you disgusting ant..."
"Dare to attack you, a war knight?"
Although Catherine was somewhat worried, she remained calm and composed on the surface. She unhurriedly took off the ring from her severed finger and examined it carefully: "If I'm not mistaken, there are actually no demons in this town. You used it to create illusions and make everyone believe that they saw demons."
"You see me as the devil, I see you as the devil; this kind of infighting will only lead to war!"
Is he a war knight?
There are no demons in the town at all; it's all an illusion created by the War Knights. In reality, everyone is killing each other.
Catherine's words stunned everyone.
The War Knight scoffed, "If it were mine, why would I let you think I was also possessed by a demon? Wouldn't I be asking for trouble?"
Catherine laughed. "If you hadn't revealed your true colors just now, you might have been able to get away with it. Unfortunately, you were too arrogant. When I suddenly cut off your finger and took the ring, you were caught off guard and forgot to hide."
"If you're not a War Knight, how could you recognize me as a vampire at a glance, and then arrogantly call me an ant, saying how dare I?"
"Whether they are humans or demon hunters, they are terrified of vampires. Even if they recognize my vampire identity, they would not take it for granted that vampires are ants, but should instead be fearful and apprehensive!"
As Catherine spoke, she glanced at the survivors around her, who were moving away and looking away: "See? This is how humans react when they see vampires!"
"You ruined my game, destroyed my fun, but it doesn't matter. I'll kill you, then make them forget all about it and start afresh!" The War Knight stared coldly at Catherine: "Congratulations on recognizing my identity, and congratulations on becoming the first vampire I've personally killed since my return!"
As soon as she finished speaking, an invisible force slammed into Catherine. Catherine, unable to resist, let out a muffled groan and flew backward, crashing heavily against the wall.
"Cough...cough cough..." With a thud, Catherine landed on the ground and coughed painfully.
This is the difference in strength!

Chapter 440 The Wen Brothers Have Arrived
The survivors' camp was in the church's basement, and the only entrance and exit was the door through which the war knight had just entered, which was now blocked by the war knight.
Catherine staggered to her feet, looking at the arrogant and furious war knight and the panicked survivors, and with a slight smirk, she loudly urged, "What are you all standing there for? He's the one who plunged the town into chaos. If we don't deal with him, we'll all die here."
"He's a War Knight! Do you think you can surrender and he'll let you go? Ants! You're all ants in his eyes, and you all have to die!!!"
Some of the survivors seemed to awaken from a dream, while others hesitated in fear. Although reason told them that Catherine was right and the War Knights would not let them go, the fear between life and death was immense, a fear that could make people lose their reason.
In the end, it was Rufus who fired the first shot in the counterattack.
Rufus, who was originally standing behind the War Knight, paused for a moment, then his expression became resolute. After quietly opening the camp gate, he fired several shots at the War Knight.
Without even looking at the result of the shot, he immediately opened his arms and lunged at the War Knight, tackling him to the ground in a bear hug.
Humans are inherently herd-oriented.
As soon as Rufus made his move, several people who were already planning to join in rushed forward, and the others who were wavering followed suit almost instinctively.
In the blink of an eye, like a human pyramid, the War Knight was pinned to the bottom by the survivors.
Doesn't that sound a bit ridiculous?
The legendary Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse were actually stacked on top of each other by humans?
To be honest, Catherine didn't expect to control the War Knight so easily. Of course, as surprised as she was, Catherine wasn't stupid. Even if the War Knight's performance was a bit lackluster, he was still the War Knight.
The instant the War Knight was tackled, Catherine dashed out at top speed and then... disappeared through the doorway.
She ran away!
Are you kidding me? Why stay and wait to die instead of running away?
It's already good enough that we managed to get the ring by luck. Should we stay and fight the War Knight to the death, and work with the survivors to defeat the War Knight and save the town?
Haha—that's something only an idiot would do!
As for sacrificing those people to create an opportunity for her own escape—Catherine didn't care at all!
"call out--"
Catherine, who had run out of the church's basement, didn't hesitate. As she moved away from the church, she shouted at the top of her lungs, "Uchiha Itachi! Uchiha Itachi! I got the ring! I got the War Knight's Ring! Help me!"
"Uchiha Itachi! You're in cahoots with that guy!!!" The War Knight's angry voice suddenly came from behind.
Catherine's expression changed instantly, and she continued to call out Uchiha Itachi's name in a somewhat urgent tone. If he hadn't appeared, she would have been no match for the War Knight.
The War Knight watched her coldly without stopping her. He wanted to wait for that guy named Uchiha Itachi to appear so they could deal with them together.
Uchiha Itachi did not appear, but two uninvited guests did.
"It's them!" Catherine recognized the two men who were approaching with guns in the distance, their faces full of vigilance.
The Wen brothers have been two outstanding demon hunters in the demon hunter circle in recent years, and it is said that they had a good relationship with the Ninja God Su Clan!
“Brother Wen, I am a ninja from the Akatsuki organization. This guy is the culprit who caused the town's fall—the War Knight of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse!” Catherine leaned towards the two without hesitation, trying to shift the blame.
Although the Wen brothers had never heard of the Akatsuki organization, they were very familiar with ninjas. Coupled with the shock brought by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, they subconsciously regarded Catherine as one of their own and warily aimed their guns at the War Knight.
The War Knight glanced at the Wen brothers, completely ignoring them. The Wen brothers, and the vampire who stole his ring, were nothing more than ants and grasshoppers that could be easily crushed. They wouldn't last much longer.
The only person he cared about was the ninja who could get him caught in the trap, Uchiha Itachi!
"Uchiha Itachi, get out here! I know you're in this town. Come out, or I'll kill this vampire!"
No sooner had the War Knight finished speaking than his figure appeared mysteriously beside Catherine, who was caught off guard and instantly grabbed by the neck and lifted up.
Well, even if she's prepared, Catherine probably can't stop her!
The battle-hardened Wen brothers reacted quickly. The moment the War Knight suddenly appeared and grabbed Catherine, the two of them had already turned their guns on the War Knight.
"You're a vampire?" Dean looked at Catherine with some surprise, beginning to believe her identity.
