The combined power of dozens of wizards erupted, shattering the barrier outside the subway station. Credence's black wind was also pulverized, slowly scattering and disappearing.
Tina lay on the ground watching this scene, a look of helpless pain on her face.
.. ... .......
“Credence…you…you guys are so stupid!” Compared to Tina’s self-blame, Security Minister Graves’ reaction surprised everyone.
He flew into a rage at the spot where Credence had disappeared, and turned around to berate the head of Congress who had brought the Congressional wizards.
Do you know what you've done?
“Killing the Obscurials is my order, Mr. Graves,” the leader said in a deep voice.
“Yes, history will not forget this, Madam President. What happened here tonight was unfair.” Graves said as he walked toward the leader.
“He killed that Muggle,” the chairman said. “He brought us into danger, he violated our most sacred law.”
“Laws that make us hide like rats in a ditch… laws that force us to suppress our nature, laws that make us live in the shadow of fear, lest we be discovered.” Graves paused.
“I ask you, Madam President, I ask all of you, who does this law protect? Us? Or them?” Graves pointed to himself, then to the ground.
Graves shook his head and turned to leave: "I refuse to continue to abide by this law."
“Aurors…” The guild leader’s expression changed. She certainly couldn’t allow Graves to betray them and leave like this.
Just as the Auror behind him was about to make a move, suddenly... a strange red light pierced through Graves' body from in front of him.
The sudden turn of events instantly froze the already tense atmosphere, which then intensified.
Chapter 261: Disqualifying Grindelwald from being a wizard!
“Uh…” Graves’ body trembled, his cheeks twitched, and he looked down in disbelief at the red fishing line piercing through his body.
My gaze followed the fishing line upwards, and at the end of the line was a fishing rod glowing red, held in the hand of a young Asian man.
Who is this person?
When did he arrive here?
Why, why didn't I notice?
"Su Shi, what are you doing?!" Tina, who recognized Su Shi's identity, was stunned at first, and then shouted at Su Shi in disbelief.
She didn't expect the Su family to suddenly appear, and she certainly didn't expect them to attack Graves.
"Mr. Su? You're that mysterious Eastern wizard, the one who rescued them from the Capitol headquarters?" The Capitol Speaker looked at Mr. Su and raised his voice.
"It's me, no need to thank me," Madam Su replied with a smile.
240, you're welcome?
You infiltrated the Capitol, killed our wizard, and rescued the prisoners, and you actually told me you're welcome?
The president's expression turned cold, and he was about to speak when Su Shi flicked her wrist, and a red fishhook carrying a ball of black energy flew out from Graves's body.
Reeling in the fishing rod and extracting the black chakra pill energy, Su then crafted a chakra pill and said to the chairman, "You seem to have a disagreement with what I said?"
Of course there are objections.
"Take a closer look. Do you still have any objections?" Su casually waved her hand, and a gust of wind struck Graves, instantly sending him flying and sliding in front of the chairman and the others.
Graves' appearance gradually changed, and he transformed into the dark wizard Grindelwald, who had recently caused a great stir throughout the wizarding world and was being searched for in vain!
"How...how could it be you?!"
The president was stunned, as were the Aurors around him, Tina, and Newt.
They never imagined that the Secretary of State for Security, Graves, would be Grindelwald in disguise, let alone that Grindelwald, who had disappeared after causing panic in Europe, was right under their noses and was actually their colleague!
When did he start replacing Graves?
"Arrest him." The guild master gave the order, and soon an Auror went over and handcuffed Grindelwald, who seemed to have lost all ability to move.
They initially thought Grindelwald would be badly injured, but after looking at him for a long time, they couldn't find any wounds on him. Just now... his body was pierced through!
The president looked at Su with a complicated expression. Given her position and responsibilities, she should have ordered Su's arrest.
After all, Su's infiltration of headquarters to kill people and rescue criminals had already violated regulations.
But he just exposed Grindelwald's identity, helping them capture him.
What did you just do to him?
Sue shrugged casually: "Nothing much, just stripped him of his qualifications as a wizard."
Were they stripped of their qualifications as wizards?
What does it mean?
"Damn it, what... what did you do to me? My magic, my magic is gone!" Grindelwald, who had been calm and confident after being captured, changed his expression instantly upon hearing Su's words, and then roared hysterically.
His voice was surprisingly panicked.
This caused those around them to show expressions of disbelief.
Has Grindelwald's magic worn off?
For a dark wizard like Grindelwald, a mere loss of magic under normal circumstances wouldn't warrant such a loss of composure. After all, he is Grindelwald, considered one of the most powerful dark wizards in history.
So Grindelwald's magic is completely gone? Just as this Eastern wizard said, he actually stripped Grindelwald of his qualifications as a wizard?!
Is this even possible?!
This is unprecedented in the entire history of the wizarding world. A wizard might lose his magic and become useless due to a spell or other reason, but he could never become a Muggle. At most, he would become a Squib who cannot cast spells.
But this Eastern wizard in front of him had done it. If Grindelwald hadn't truly lost his wizarding qualifications, he wouldn't have been so agitated and panicked.
The president took a deep breath, changed the subject, and slowly said, "The wizarding world has been exposed, and the Muggles outside already know. The news is spreading rapidly, and we cannot erase the memory of the entire city."
Once the wizarding world is exposed, conflict, or even war, between the wizarding and Muggle worlds is inevitable. This is something the Magical Congress has always wanted to avoid, and it is also the reason why various laws exist.
Now, everything has come to nothing.
“Actually… I think it’s okay.” Newt, who had been just observing for a while, looked up at the sky and suddenly spoke in a low voice.
The president turned to look at Newt, who in turn looked at Tina.
"My suitcase."
Tina was startled and turned to look for her sister Queenie, but Queenie wasn't there. She could only look at Sue.
Su disappeared in a flash, and the next moment, she returned with Queenie, who was holding a box and looked bewildered.
Newt retrieved the box and opened it in the open space, whereupon a large bird suddenly emerged from it.
The ptarmigan is a large, imperial bird, most commonly found in Arizona in the southwestern United States, and is closely related to the phoenix.
Thunderbirds can create storms while flying and are also highly sensitive to danger.
Thunderbird tail feathers can be used as wand cores. Wands made with thunderbird tail feathers are difficult to wield, but they usually possess great power and are suitable for performing Transfiguration spells.
Newt rescued this Thunderbird from traffickers in Egypt, and one of his purposes in coming to New York was to send it back to its hometown of Arizona.
“I was thinking of taking you with me to Arizona, but it seems you’re our only hope now, Frank.” Newt snuggled against the Thunderbird’s head, gently stroking its chin and cheek.
It has to be said that Newt truly deserves to be the protagonist of the Fantastic Beasts series; he's practically born with an aura of affinity for animals.
"I'll miss you." After they parted, Newt stepped back, took out a small jar of blue liquid, and looked at Thunderbird: "You know what to do."
Newt threw the liquid, and the Thunderbird caught it, flapped its wings, and flew high into the sky, directly out of the subway.
A giant thunderbird soared through the clouds, and in an instant, dark clouds rolled in, accompanied by lightning and thunder.
A huge dark cloud slowly rotated and condensed as the thunderbird took off, instantly transforming into a massive cloud layer.
The Thunderbird shattered the liquid in the clouds.
Then, a torrential downpour began. Each raindrop possessed a unique effect.
In the city, people being dripped with rain gradually became dazed.
Furthermore, rainwater flows through water supply systems into countless homes, affecting even those indoors who aren't exposed to rain, simply by drinking water, showering, or getting wet.
Chapter 262 Wizard Bloodline Limit
The torrential rain erased the memories of the Muggles in the city, while the Aurors of the Magical Congress were also busy, heading to different places to restore the damage caused by the Obscurus.
The streets were mottled, the buildings were broken, and the Aurors waved their wands, casting spells of restoration to their original state.
This scene was spectacular, leaving Mr. Su quite impressed.
The Harry Potter series is probably the only movie series that knows how to clean up the mess and restore everything to its original state after a battle.
Like Transformers and the Avengers series, the fighting scenes look very exciting, the heroes defeat the villains and save humanity, and then... the battlefield turns into ruins!
If the Avengers could restore buildings damaged by battles like they do now, Sue thinks the Sokovia Accords would never have a chance to happen.
The subway station was restored to its original state, and the Thunderbirds gradually disappeared into the distance, heading towards Arizona.
In the subway station, Newt slowly explained, "They'll forget everything; that Venom has a strong amnesia function."
“We owe you a huge favor, Mr. Scamander,” the chairman said to Newt in gratitude, but his expression changed when Newt looked over. “Now, get your suitcase out of New York.”
“Yes, Madam President.” Newt nodded gratefully. He was already very fortunate to be cleared of suspicion and not be held accountable for any other miscellaneous responsibilities.
The president turned to look at Madam Su, who squinted at her.
He wasn't as easy to talk to as Newt; he actually only did two things from beginning to end.
One was rescuing Tina and Newt and killing the wizard in charge of the execution; the other was finding Grindelwald and helping them capture this dangerous dark wizard.
The former, since Newt's innocence has been proven, means that the previous death sentence was wrong, and both saving people and killing wizards are excusable.
The latter, by capturing Grindelwald, owed a favor no less significant than Newt erasing the memories of everyone in the city.
The merits and demerits cancel each other out, which is acceptable to Su, since the so-called merits were just incidental.
But if the president asks you to leave New York or does something like that to assert the legal status of Congress, then don't blame Su for being ruthless.
That's perfect, though a single Chakra Pill might not guarantee the awakening of a wizard's bloodline.
