Chapter 9 Snail Yuesheng 1 Family
Chapter 9 Snail Yuesheng 1 Family
Outside the window, the sound system of his brother's song, "Silence is Golden," drifted through the store. From the bathroom next to the cafeteria, the sound of dripping water occasionally echoed, as if trying to keep up with the rhythm outside. Zhong Liang's gaze was fixed on Ye Chen.
His eyes flashed with a cold light. If Ye Chen didn't agree, he would become a pawn in the game of Huayu. The strong seeking opinions is not an opportunity for the weak to fight for them.
Ye Chen finally nodded.
"You're a talented guy, it's a waste of your talent to go into sales, don't feel wronged. Shuangjie is about to give birth, so I'll only be here for two or three more months at most. You should study hard these two months, and the after-sales supervisor position will be yours in the future," Zhong Liang said.
Ye Chen said, "I'm not wronged, and I won't let the store manager down."
At this moment, even the cheap stereo outside the window made my brother's voice sound melodious and gentle... "Say what you will, I will do my duty."
Ye Chen made an excuse to leave the dinner table and went up to the rooftop alone.
On the rooftop, Ye Chen saw the back of the shop sign, which was 3 meters above the floor, with its dense network of pipes and a complex water storage system.
He had just found a clean place to sit down when Sister Shuang arrived, heavily pregnant, carrying a bed sheet.
When Shuangjie saw Ye Chen, she was a little surprised and greeted him with a smile: "Brother Chen, you're here too."
Seeing Shuangjie holding her stomach with one hand and clutching a blanket with the other, walking slowly, Ye Chen asked, "Shuangjie, do you need any help?"
"Okay!" Shuangjie, true to her name, was unpretentious and already had a red nylon rope in her hand. "Help me hang up the clothesline."
After Ye Chen hung the rope for her, Shuang Jie didn't stand on ceremony and handed him the bed sheet. He then quietly helped her hang the bed sheet to dry.
When I turned around, Sister Shuang was already sitting on the cement block, resting.
"Chen-ge'er, are you homesick?" Shuang-jie asked.
Ye Chen paused, then nodded slightly.
"You don't know this, do you? You and Yuesheng are from the same hometown, separated only by a highway," Shuangjie said with a smile. "Afeng and Yuesheng are from the same village."
"Huh? Ah Feng didn't tell me?"
"He's from the village, and there's a ten-year age gap between us, so it's normal that we don't know each other."
"Sister Shuang, you..." Ye Chen wanted to ask her when she was going to give birth, but then felt it was a bit presumptuous, and unconsciously raised his finger slightly.
Shuangjie pointed to her belly: "You want to ask when the little one in your belly will come out, right? Little one, tell Uncle Chen, when are you coming out?"
When the topic turned to the baby, Shuangjie's smile softened even more. She answered her own question, "My due date is still about four months away. If all goes well, we'll be going back to our hometown in a month."
"Next month?" Ye Chen realized that he had been tricked by Zhong Liang again.
"Haha, that unscrupulous store manager will talk to you for two or three months," Sister Shuang laughed, then added, "Zhong Liang is actually a pretty good guy, but he's had some family issues lately... so his temper might be a bit strange. Don't take what he says to you to heart."
Shuangjie waved to Ye Chen and said, "Come sit down. I have to look up at you while you're standing, and my neck will get sore."
Ye Chen sat down next to Shuang Jie, who suddenly reached out and ruffled his hair. Ye Chen frowned and avoided her touch.
"Haha, sorry! I couldn't help it." Sister Shuang suddenly burst into laughter. "I have a younger brother who's the same age as you."
Ye Chen didn't respond, but involuntarily sat up straight and stopped avoiding her. Shuang Jie withdrew her hand.
Sister Shuang sighed and said, "Yue Sheng has been doing after-sales service for five or six years. You have to ask him more questions. If you don't ask, that taciturn guy won't tell you. Don't blame him, that's just the kind of person he is."
"Will you come back in the future?" Ye Chen asked.
"I'm not coming back. I can't work for someone else my whole life." Shuang Jie said with a hint of melancholy. Perhaps sensing Ye Chen's low spirits, Shuang Jie added, "I'm going back to my hometown and I won't be leaving. You can come over for tea if you go home."
"Okay." Ye Chen nodded.
"It's too hot on the rooftop, I'm going down now." Sister Shuang waved her hand and turned to leave.
Ye Chen stood in front of the low wall, looking down at the main street of the commercial city through the gaps in the shop signs. His gaze fell on Dadi Digital across the street, where customers were coming and going. Some were happy to have bought a new phone, while others were angrily coming to the after-sales service. With nothing else to do, he started counting the flow of people.
Based on the foot traffic at Dadi, Ye Chen estimated that about 2% of customers come in for after-sales service. Compared to Huayu's current after-sales rate of about 1%, a 2% after-sales rate is extremely poor.
At 7 p.m., Zhong Liang convened a management meeting in the Huayu Management Office, with Ye Chen in attendance.
The meeting was led by store manager Zhong Liang, warehouse supervisor Lao Yang, after-sales supervisor Yue Sheng, and sales supervisor Aya.
The meeting was brief. Aya reported on the sales and profit figures for the first week of March, Lao Yang discussed the inventory situation, Yue Sheng briefly reported on the after-sales rate, and Zhong Liang said, "Thank you all for your hard work."
Then Zhong Liang began to deliver the main course, saying, "Recent market research has revealed that Dadi Digital is selling refurbished phones, and General Manager Liao's intention is to follow suit."
"Yes, the goods will arrive tomorrow, five models," Lao Yang added, then turned to Yue Sheng and said, "I'll send you the models."
Yue Sheng frowned but remained silent. Aya showed no objection and asked, "Is the price list ready? Will it be on the shelves tomorrow?"
"The price and shelf placement time will be arranged by General Manager Liao." Zhong Liang's gaze swept over the people in front of him and landed on Yue Sheng. "After the goods arrive tomorrow, Brother Sheng, please do your part to check the entire batch."
Yue Sheng nodded.
The four fell silent. After a while, Zhong Liang spoke up: "Brother Sheng, starting tomorrow, Ye Chen will be with you. Try to get him capable of handling things independently within a month."
Yue Sheng nodded again.
Seeing that everyone was silent, Zhong Liang politely asked, "Is there anything else we need to discuss?" No one responded, so he adjourned the meeting.
As Aya stood up, she jokingly said to Ye Chen, "Hello, Manager Ye."
Sitting on the sofa, Old Yang grinned and said, "You've already called the manager? Aya, you think highly of Brother Chen?"
Just as Aya was about to respond, a voice came from the store; Bai Yun was calling her to come out.
Ye Chen was deeply impressed by his first meeting, which was straightforward and to the point, without any unnecessary words.
After 7:30, the store became more crowded. Yue Sheng and Ye Chen stood in front of the glass of the after-sales service room. Yue Sheng didn't speak, but Ye Chen took the initiative to ask, "Brother Sheng, how is the after-sales rate calculated?"
Yue Sheng said, "We're only counting the best-selling models."
Ye Chen thought to himself: Sure enough, even if I asked, the answer I got was still just a few words.
"Why not use the entire store's sales data for calculation?" Ye Chen asked again.
"Low sales figures are not a reliable indicator," Yue Sheng replied.
He seemed to have grown tired of looking at it, returned to his desk, and took out poster paper and a box of pens. Under Ye Chen's astonished gaze, he carefully wrote the poster stroke by stroke.
It turns out the posters in the store were written by this snail-like writer, Yue Sheng. Five refurbished models were about to arrive, one poster for each. The numbers and Chinese characters would be unremarkable on ordinary paper, but they looked different on the posters. The color schemes, stroke sizes, and spacing were all different. At first glance, it seemed strange, but from a distance, all the characters came alive, like fish about to leap out of a pond.
Brother Sheng did not write down the sales price.
Before leaving get off work, Brother Sheng handed Ye Chen four thick books and said expressionlessly, "Read them. Ask again if you don't understand."
The two books are tutorials on POP posters, and the box of pens isn't made of traditional markers, but rather POP poster pens.
Ye Chen placed the two poster books aside. One was "The Latest Quick Mobile Phone Repair Techniques," a rather old book. Ye Chen flipped through it; Yue Sheng had already taken notes, marking all the still-useful techniques. Ye Chen then opened the other book, "Smartphone After-Sales Service," which wasn't a traditional book and didn't even have an ISBN. It mostly consisted of privately collected forum posts and miscellaneous articles on mobile phone troubleshooting.
The four large characters on the title page piqued Ye Chen's interest—"Saipan Prison Break."
