Chapter 109 Eavesdropping Behind the Christmas Tree
Chapter 109 Eavesdropping Behind the Christmas Tree
"It's Lyra and Angelina!" Ron quickly spotted the new group as well. "They really are on a date with Hufflepuff boys!"
“I passed by their dorm this morning, and they were up really early,” Hermione said, taking a sip of her butterbeer. “They were getting ready for this date.”
“Harry, move a little further in.” Ron tried to block Harry with his body, and then quietly moved the table, trying to move it to a more secluded corner.
Hermione clicked her tongue in exasperation, pulled out her wand, and whispered the spell: "Apparition!"
The Christmas tree next to them floated away from its original spot and moved right in front of their table, perfectly obscuring the three of them.
Ron silently gave a thumbs up, then he and Harry peeked out through the gaps in the branches.
Hermione... Hermione muttered "boy" but her body betrayed her as she leaned closer, three pairs of eyes secretly glancing at the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff social group, and six ears perking up.
“Thank you, Cedric,” Lyra said, taking the large glass of butterbeer he offered. “And thank you for not exposing me to Wood.”
“It’s nothing,” Cedric blinked and smiled easily. “After all, you’re my date, so it’s only right that I cover for you.”
Harry wished his ears were longer so he could hear more clearly.
“Speaking of which, Wood really didn’t know?” Andrew, the round-eyed boy who was riding in the carriage with Lyra, sat down next to Arya and considerately helped her put on her coat. He asked curiously, “I mean, maybe the whole of Hogwarts knows that we’ve agreed to go to Hogsmeade together this time.”
"Wood doesn't care about any of that; he's been focused on developing new tactics ever since the loss," Aria said.
“And I heard that the team Wood likes, the one he really wanted to join after graduation, Pudmere United, seems to have changed its recruitment criteria recently,” Angelina said with a big gulp of warm butterbeer and a comfortable sigh. “Wood is completely immersed in studying the new rules.”
“Otherwise, Angelina wouldn’t be so afraid of Wood overhearing her date with Fred!” Lyra couldn’t help but laugh. “Aria, even if you had said Angelina was dating Filch, Wood might have believed you, hahaha!”
Harry felt Ron sit up excitedly beside him and whisper to him and Hermione, "Angelina and Fred are dating! Harry, is it true? Did you find out during training?"
"Shh!" Hermione raised her index finger to warn Ron to keep his voice down.
Harry was more interested in hearing about Lyra and Cedric—had they really started dating...?
“Oh, shut up, all of you,” Angelina rolled her eyes. “I just hope Wood’s training doesn’t get too outrageous. You know, once the season starts, our jerseys are almost never dry. They’re either soaked in rain or snow.”
“Your training is indeed very rigorous,” Cedric said. “Gryffindor has always been a formidable opponent for us.”
“Actually, Ravenclaw has a lot of training,” Lyra said. “They got a new Seeker, a girl. I overheard George and Fred talking about it.”
“Cho Chang, that Asian girl.” Arya and Angelina exchanged a quick glance. “She’s quite popular in Ravenclaw.”
“Well, we saw her during our last match against Ravenclaw. She’s really good at tennis, and she’s beautiful too!” The Hufflepuff boys all nodded in agreement.
When Leila saw Angelina, she subtly pursed her lips. Aria glanced at Andrew, but the cute boy with round eyes was completely oblivious, still enthusiastically discussing the adorable Qiu Zhang with his friends.
“I think she’s very cute and has a very special temperament, unlike British wizards,” another Hufflepuff boy also liked the new Ravenclaw Seeker. “But she doesn’t look like her usual gentle self at all when she plays. She’s a very good Quidditch player.”
Cedric: "Qiu Zhang Fei is very steady, and last time when she was speeding and making a turn, she was very agile."
Lyra, hearing all the Hufflepuff boys praising Ravenclaw's Seeker, was triggered by her protective instincts: "Cho Chang isn't the only girl at Hogwarts who plays Quidditch. Our Angelina and Arya joined the team even earlier than her, and they're not only beautiful, but they play even more beautifully!"
“Oh, you’re right. Our team has conceded goals to Angelina and Aria several times. I noticed last time that Aria’s curveball was really amazing…” Andrew’s sincere praise made Aria’s face light up.
Lyra observed the people around her with great interest, while Cedric also silently observed Lyra.
From the moment his friends began praising Cho Chang, Cedric had been secretly observing the dark-haired girl's expression, wondering if she was unhappy that he was praising other pretty girls, but...
Hufflepuff's perfect boy felt a little down, but outwardly he still naturally handed out a plate of vanilla cookies to everyone.
As everyone was happily enjoying the freshly baked vanilla cookies, a gentle breeze blew by, and the door with three brooms opened again, revealing several very familiar figures striding in.
"Good morning, Professors!" The students from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff stood up obediently to greet them. The people who came were several professors from Hogwarts.
Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick entered the tavern amidst the swirling snowflakes outside, followed closely by the burly Hagrid, whose towering figure completely obscured the middle-aged man behind them, who wore a dark yellow-green bowler hat and a pinstripe cloak.
Lyra immediately recognized the man behind Hagrid: Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge. She couldn't help it; the last time she and the young master were hiding in Hagrid's hut wearing invisibility cloaks, Minister Fudge's questionable sense of style had left a deep impression on her.
Although Dumbledore's usual style of clothing is also flashy and extravagant, Lyra finds it strangely harmonious, while Fudge's bizarre color scheme is simply unacceptable.
“Oh, it’s you all—” Professor Flitwick smiled kindly at the students, while the serious Professor McGonagall simply nodded.
Several adult professors chose empty seats near the students.
The Gryffindor and Hufflepuff buddy cohort immediately decided to leave. They had drunk butterbeer, eaten cookies, warmed up, and the professors had come in; it was time to go.
Lyra and her group quickly evacuated, while Harry nervously crouched under the table, afraid that the professor would discover that he had sneaked out of the castle against the rules.
