Chapter 69 Let's eat hot pot together
Hot pot, a popular food, not only satisfies people's taste buds but also brings a lively atmosphere.
Green vegetables are an indispensable ingredient in hot pot. I chose tender green spinach, romaine lettuce, and lettuce, which are rich in vitamins and fiber and can provide nutrition for the body.
Next, I went to the area where the house-elf kept the meat and picked out some tender beef and lamb.
Beef has a clear marbling and firm texture, while lamb has a good balance of fat and lean meat and a tender texture.
To enhance the flavor of the hot pot, I also selected some seafood, such as shrimp and fish, and plan to make some fish balls and shrimp balls myself.
These seafoods are not only delicious, but also rich in protein and minerals.
Besides vegetables and meat, the hot pot broth is also crucial.
I was worried they couldn't handle spicy food, so I decided to make a hot pot base for a yin-yang pot, one pot made with various spices and chili peppers, and the other pot with chicken broth and fresh mushroom flavor.
This hot pot with two broths was something I prepared when I lived with Tom Marvolo Riddell. I used it a few times and always kept it in my portable backpack. Now it's come in handy again.
I asked Cedric to wash the vegetables, cut them into appropriate sizes, and put them on a plate for later use. Luckily, Cedric is from the Badger House, so he's good at handling food.
I sliced the beef and lamb into thin slices and arranged them on a plate, which looked very tempting.
I also cleaned the seafood, removed the shells and bones, minced it into a paste, shaped it into balls, and put them in a bowl for later use.
Finally, we prepared the soup base. The chicken and mushroom soup base can be made in a pot, while the spice and chili soup base has been researched beforehand and is prepared in my own portable backpack. All I need to do is bring it to a boil in a pot.
As the water temperature rises, the aroma of the hot pot broth gradually fills the air, making one's mouth water.
After the hot pot broth boiled, I poured it into the divided pot.
This pot that Tom Marvolo Riddell and I used was actually invented by me; it can maintain a constant temperature by simply igniting it with a little magic.
Once everything was ready, we waited for people to arrive.
I originally thought it was just Gemini, Percy, and Oliver, but I didn't expect them to invite the Gryffindor team members who had just lost the game together.
I don't really care; it's more fun to eat hot pot with lots of people. Luckily, I prepared a fair amount of ingredients.
I've also prepared sesame paste, minced garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, and other condiments, so you can mix and match them according to your own preferences.
Adding dipping sauce not only enhances the texture of the ingredients but also adds a unique flavor to the hot pot.
Once they were all seated, I told them the correct way to eat hot pot.
Everyone sat around the hot pot, chatting and enjoying the food.
The ingredients in the hot pot are cooked in the boiling broth, emitting an enticing aroma.
Since none of them knew how to use chopsticks, I used chopsticks to pick up the food myself, while they all used forks. Watching them grab food with their forks made me want to laugh.
My targets were a bit better off; I'd occasionally help them with their food.
They put it in their mouths, savoring the spicy and numbing flavor and the fresh, tender texture, making it irresistible to them.
As a result, the Geminis and their friends got into a fight over what they wanted to eat, swinging their forks around rapidly.
The others were no exception; except for me, who couldn't out-use chopsticks, they were all in a contest to grab food.
"George, why did you steal the shrimp balls I put down?" Fred saw the red shrimp ball that George had stuck up and excitedly tried to reach over me to grab it.
"Fred, these dumplings don't have your name on them, so I might have put them there." George wasn't about to let Fred take them away. He had painstakingly stuck the dumplings together, and before Fred could snatch them back, George had already popped them into his mouth.
"Hahahaha, look what I caught!" Oliver scooped up a piece of beef that Cedric had put down and immediately stuffed it into his mouth.
"Senior Oliver, you don't need to be in such a hurry to stuff it in your mouth. I won't take it from you." Cedric, without arguing or fighting, picked up a piece of vegetable and put it into his own bowl.
Luckily, it was something I liked to eat, and they couldn't pick it up as fast as I could. But the Geminis got smarter; whenever they saw me pick something up and put it in my bowl, they would stick their forks into it.
I don't mind, I let them do as they please, and I even give Percy and Cedric some every now and then.
The other two Gryffindor members also joined the Geminis in their food-grabbing spree, and the house-elves in the kitchen would occasionally watch us eat hot pot.
As time went by, we gradually finished off all the ingredients in the hot pot.
Everyone's faces were filled with satisfied smiles. This hot pot feast not only allowed us to enjoy delicious food, but also strengthened our relationships.
Finally, we cleared the table together, bringing this pleasant gathering to a close.
The Gryffindor players forgot about their loss tonight and happily walked back to their house's common room while enjoying hot pot.
In addition to preparing ingredients for the hot pot, I also prepared fruit, giving them some to take back to their dorms to eat.
After saying goodbye to Cedric, he returned to the Slytherin common room alone.
Night fell over Hogwarts, and the entire castle was immersed in tranquility.
In the Slytherin common room, a solitary lamp cast a soft glow, illuminating a comfortable armchair in the corner.
A figure sat there quietly, holding a thick book in his hands, immersed in the world of the book.
My gaze was focused and deep, as if I were completely captivated by the words in the book.
Everything around me became blurry, except for the words on the pages of the book, which were clearly visible to me.
A faint herbal scent filled the lounge, emanating from the potion table nearby.
The Slytherin House flag hanging on the wall fluttered gently in the breeze, making a soft rustling sound.
Apart from that, there were no other sounds, only the occasional sound of me turning the pages of the book breaking the silence.
My fingers gently stroked the pages, feeling the texture of the paper, as if I were having a silent exchange with the knowledge within.
The stories and knowledge in the book flowed into my mind like a clear spring, making me forget the passage of time.
Time slipped by unnoticed as I became completely absorbed in the world of books, until a soft tapping on the table broke the silence.
I looked up and saw a classmate sitting in the chair opposite me with an apologetic smile on his face.
"Sorry to bother you," the student said softly. "I just wanted to borrow a potions book."
I smiled and nodded, put down the book I was holding, got up and walked to the bookshelf, where I found the potions book that my classmate needed.
The student gratefully accepted the book and turned to leave the lounge.
I returned to my armchair and continued to immerse myself in the world of books. In this quiet night, I found my own peace and joy in the Slytherin common room.
