Chapter 111 An unexpected encounter with the Malfoys.
"Oh, Ayers and Percy, come and sit down, we've been waiting for you." The hospitable Mrs. Weasley urged us to sit down as soon as she saw us come down.
The twins sat on either side of me, while Charlie, Percy, Ron, and Ginny sat opposite me.
We all sat down to eat, and Mrs. Weasley was busy serving us. It seemed Mr. Weasley hadn't come back for lunch today.
"Your shopping lists for the new semester have all been sent to your homes, including Ronnie's acceptance letter."
Mrs. Weasley helped us distribute the food and then took out our letters and handed them to everyone.
We each took our letters and opened them to read.
"Congratulations, Percy, you're a prefect this year!" Charlie, sitting next to Percy, congratulated his younger brother upon seeing the prefect badge in Percy's envelope.
"Oh~ We have another prefect in our family this year." Mrs. Weasley said happily to Percy, kissing and hugging him.
"Congratulations." We were all happy for Percy, but Percy himself got a little nervous, afraid that his mother would rip off the concealing makeup I had put on.
"Thank you." Percy was relieved to see that everyone was alright.
“Mom, a few of us friends have made plans to buy school supplies this year. Why don’t you take Ronnie, who’s a freshman this year, and we can go shopping by ourselves?” Fred hadn’t forgotten their promise to go shopping for new school supplies together when they were on the train.
"Really? Who went with you?" Mrs. Weasley asked casually, as the mother.
“Ayers, Percy, us, and Oliver and Cedric,” George told his mother, listing the names one by one.
"Honey~ then you all need to be careful and watch your safety." Since there were so many people, including Percy, Mrs. Weasley naturally agreed.
Ron was also very happy that he wouldn't have to go shopping with his older brother this year, and he was looking forward to his life at school more and more.
So we agreed to meet at the ice cream shop in Diagon Alley the next day.
The twins flanked me, with Percy following behind, and the four of us headed towards the ice cream shop.
We could see Oliver and Cedric chatting from a distance, so we walked over together.
"Ayers, how was your vacation?" Cedric, with a smile that crinkled his eyes, started chatting with me first.
"Not bad. How's Cedric doing?" Since Cedric asked first, I naturally answered his question first.
“It’s not bad either.” We smiled at each other as Saide replied.
"Let's go check out the broom shop first. What do you think? The new Nimbus 2000 looks pretty good. Let's take a look." For Oliver Wood, a Quidditch fanatic, nothing was more important than flying brooms.
“Let’s go, let’s go take a look.” Fred, who loved to join in the fun, immediately followed Oliver.
"Wait for me!" George followed closely behind the two of them.
“I bought ice cream, you guys should try some.” Cedric pulled out two, handing one to me and the other to Percy.
"What about you?" Percy and I each had one, but he didn't have any left to eat.
“Oliver and I have already eaten. We finished eating before you arrived,” Cedric said with a smile.
“That’s great. Looks like Fred and George aren’t going to get to enjoy this.” I joked with Cedric and Percy.
They both just smiled when they heard me say that.
The three of us strolled leisurely to the broom shop, where we saw Gemini and Oliver both peering at the Nimbus 2000 through the window.
If I remember correctly, I think I have a Nimbus 2000 that I've never ridden.
"If any of you get into the top 10 in your exams this year, I might consider giving you a Nimbus 2000." Anyway, I don't need to ride a broom myself, so I can give it to them as a reward.
"Really?" Fred and George said in unison.
"Oh~ then Percy and I have a better chance of getting this broom," Cedric joked. With him and Percy being such good students, making it into the top ten was no problem at all.
"No matter which one of you gets into the top ten in the new school year, I can get you a Nimbus 2000." Not to mention that I already have a Nimbus 2000 myself, and I also own a flying magic tool shop, okay? I can customize a batch of flying brooms myself.
"It's a deal." Quidditch fanatic Oliver is ready to get good grades in the new school year.
"I will definitely keep my promise to you." I smiled as I watched their enthusiasm rise, but I didn't know how long it would last.
Then we stopped looking at the brooms and all of us went to the bookstore to buy books.
I never expected that in such a small Diagon Alley, I would see Lucius Malfoy and Draco Malfoy, my favorite arrogant little boy from my past life.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Lucius Malfoy." Having met him a few times before, he still politely gave Lucius Malfoy a noble greeting. These noble manners were deeply ingrained in him; the Grindelwald family had taught him them from a very young age.
"Good afternoon, Ayers Hall." Lucius Malfoy still didn't know I was a member of the Grindelwald family, but we had met before as Severus's prized student.
If Riddle knew that Lucius Malfoy spoke to me like that, I wonder if he'd give him an Avada Kedavra.
"I still have some books I need to buy, so I won't bother you any longer." I just wanted to say hello; I didn't really want to have a long conversation. I had a group of people to take care of.
"Okay, my son Draco is starting school this year, could you please help look after him?" After all, I'm one of Severus's favorite students, and I've heard that I get excellent grades at school. Asking me to look after his son and befriend him would be good for his son.
"Okay, feel free to contact me if you need anything. I'm also a Slytherin student." I actually wish Draco Malfoy would come to see me more often.
While I was chatting with Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy listened quietly the whole time. He still recognized me from when I was nine years old and flew in the sky with his son, but with his own father by his side, he had to pretend.
I left and chatted with Lucius Malfoy for a bit. The Geminis didn't know what I was talking about with Lucius Malfoy. When I came back, they brought me the books I needed. The Geminis and I are in the same grade, so we need the same books.
Another reason was that I didn't want them to buy secondhand books. I knew the Weasleys were struggling financially, so leaving to chat with Lucius Malfoy also gave me a chance to slip some money to Percy to pay for his bill.
Seeing Percy happy to have bought the books he wanted to read made me happy too.
"Have you guys finished? We still need to buy potion ingredients." I asked the group, and then we headed to the place that sells potion ingredients.
