Chapter 208: Queen Bee Final Part

Her claw went flying from my strike. The creature’s purple blood gushed from the cut I had made. Time seemed to move more slowly than before, and now that I was so close to her, I had to go in for a second attack.

The Queen Bee, her wings spread wide, retreated upwards just as my second Thunderblade was about to cut through her neck.

"Ugh!" the monster screamed as she hovered three meters above the ground. Although she had escaped death, I had still managed to cut off part of her right leg.

"Two limbs out, three more to go," I said in a calm, cold tone.

The Queen Bee furrowed her brows at me. Her face was a mix of rage and disgust.

"I will not lose to a mere human. Do you know what I had to do to get where I am? I survived the destruction of my dungeon and built my own hive. A mere Swordsman will not be the one to defeat me!"

"I think you misunderstood. I’m not a Swordsman. I’m a Valkyrie Tamer."

The creature bared her teeth at me, exposing her fangs. "And what the hell is that?!!"

The Queen Bee flew down towards me at full speed. It was her last mistake. Attacking recklessly when she had the chance to flee. What a foolish mistake.

The bulge where her coccyx should have been looked larger as she descended to make her charge. She was probably going to try to hit me with her stinger.

I say probably because I could see a dark mass forming in the palm of her hand as she moved towards me. She was going to attack me from two angles, with either her magic or her stinger. If I stopped one, she would hit me with the other.

I took a breath, calming myself for what I was about to do. There was a way to defeat her. I would have to stop both of her attacks. When she got close to me, I called out my skill.

"Flash Thrasher."

I could see her hand coming towards me as she got close to the ground. Instead of running away, I charged towards her arm. With a quick swing of my sword, I cut off her second arm. Now only the Bee’s stinger remained.

The creature supported her body on the ground with the last foot she had left, turning her body and extending her stinger towards what would have been my blind spot. In that moment, I could clearly see her attack as if it were in slow motion. Her protruding stinger was aimed at my neck.

Normally, our speeds would have been equal, but thanks to Flash Thrasher, I had temporarily gained a boost to my Agility and to my next two attacks as well. So it was still possible to repel her offensive and counterattack.

I guided my blade towards the Queen Bee’s stinger, trying to protect myself from her poison. When my black sword touched the stinger, I felt her pressure against me. Sparks burst from the furious contact between us. We both wanted to take the other’s life, but I believed my motivation was stronger.

If she won, despite having taken so much damage in our battle, my Valkyries’ powers would not be able to put even a scratch on her. In the worst case, she would not flee, but kill them for having killed her soldiers.

And after that, she would keep her word and attack the nearby towns. Greenville could be destroyed if I failed. I could not allow that to happen no matter what.

"Not Greenville, and not my wives!" I said, putting my heart into my sword. "I won’t let you win no matter what!"

"Ugh!" A deep sound came from the Queen Bee’s mouth as my black blade repelled her hard stinger.

I had one more fast attack from Flash Thrasher. She had no way left to defend herself from my attack and was completely open to my offensive.

"It can’t be..." she muttered, stunned, knowing that her defeat would come in seconds.

"It’s over!" I shouted, bringing my sword down in a horizontal slash and cutting through her abdomen.

The Queen Bee’s body fell onto the grass, no longer able to fight. Her eyes already showed that life had left her body. It did not take long for her body to disintegrate into black dust, as all monsters do when the end comes, leaving behind only the mark her body had made in the grass.

I was panting. Even though I had won the fight, it felt like I had barely managed to win. Victory had been within my reach, but I could not lie and say it was easy-peasy.

"I guess this is what happens when it’s a battle at my level..." I said to myself, catching my breath. A smile spread across my face, and I could not hold it back.

I had a reason to be happy. I had managed to fight and defeat a Boss by myself. I had won without the help of my Valkyries, and without having to use Ero Boost or Berserk Wolf.

I had no problem using those skills or needing their help, but I felt that I could win without having to rely on them in a fight. And judging by the results in front of me, I was right. I was quite strong at this point, and I could defeat a Boss by myself.

And also, it seemed right that I could fight by myself at this level. Saying that I wanted to protect my dear Valkyries while not being able to defeat a single Boss was something that bothered me a lot.

"But I did it." I clenched my fist, overjoyed with the results of my grind.

"Rick!" Sarah called out to me from a distance. She was coming towards me, accompanied by the rest of my Valkyries. All of them had smiles on their faces.

When they reached me, they said almost in unison, "Congratulations on your victory, Rick."

"Thank you," I replied, returning their affectionate words.

After that brief feminine moment, Sarah walked over to me. I thought she was going to give me a kiss, but she punched me in the arm.

"Ouch!"

"You scared me to death, you idiot," she said to me, annoyed. "Your plan to let yourself get caught by her was really irresponsible, you know?"

"Plan?"

"Getting caught by her attack so you could electrocute her," Sarah said, as if it were obvious.

"Ah, yes. My plan..." I said, pretending everything had been planned. "Of course, all according to my plan."

"Don’t tell me..." Sarah seemed to understand what I was thinking. "Honestly, you’re unbelievable, but I guess there’s some merit in winning a fight through improvisation and wit."

"Aah!" Alicia let out a high-pitched scream, pointing below my waist. "Your hand!"

"Ah, right." Only now did I remember the injury I had suffered when I protected myself from Graviton.

Alicia hurriedly pulled my hand closer to her and said in a serious voice, "I will heal you immediately."

"Hey, Alicia. They’re just a few scratches. I can heal myself, so you don’t need to worry—Ugh!" The moment I said that, my body began to feel the pain of having been hit by gravity magic.

The girl with long blond hair glared at me furiously, her cheeks puffed out. She must still have been irritated about not taking part in the fight. She must also have been holding herself back to follow my request not to interfere in my battle.

"All right. Do as you like," I said to her, letting her heal my injuries.

While Alicia’s magic healed me, I sat on the grass near my Valkyries. I opened my system HUD to see the fruits of our extermination.

I wanted to give the updates to my Valkyries and myself, but the message I had received sounded familiar. I looked at Camula, who was right in front of me, and I think she misunderstood my stare.

"Oh my, Master~" she said with a lewd smile. "Please wait until tonight—"

"That’s not it. Take your mind out of the gutter."

I looked at her by reflex because the situation reminded me of her case. We had defeated Zalrorg, the Lich capable of creating demons, and as one of the rewards, I had received a crystal that allowed me to create a demon. That was how the perverted girl with pink hair had appeared in this world.

I got excited. This meant I might be able to get a new member for my party, one whose appearance I could choose however I wanted.

I thought it would be more interesting to find out about that than to increase our points, but when I looked at the consumable I had received, all my excitement turned to dust.
