Chapter 845 238: Return and Daily Life (Part 2)
"..."
Ian was at a loss for words.
He had certainly wondered why his magic wand worked so well with Dark Arts, but he hadn't really thought that it wasn't a Unicorn feather; a Raven's feather could also represent the balance of life and death.
"Merlin, others entrusted you with feathers to deliver, yet you acted as a middleman to earn some money—that's truly despicable." Ian could only switch the topic to tease Merlin a bit.
"Uh..."
Merlin was suddenly tongue-tied by Ian's words; he paused for a moment and then responded in a slightly awkward tone, "I had no choice; after all, I needed to eat back then."
Such an unadorned reason.
But to say that Merlin didn't even have money for food—neither Ian nor anyone else would believe it; a skilled wizard had countless ways to make money.
Especially one as eminent as Merlin.
"All just excuses."
Ian continued to look down on Merlin.
Merlin immediately acted as if he didn't see anything, and as his magic wand gently waved, the surroundings began to blur and the scene simulated from memory gradually dissipated.
"My understanding of the Raven is limited to this. I once tracked its trail, but nearly got tricked to death several times. Perhaps, you don't want anyone to understand your matters."
Merlin's tone was frightened, not knowing what he had encountered.
"Hmm." Ian nodded thoughtfully as he recalled the cause of Morgan's death. A hint of complex emotion flashed in his eyes, but soon restored to calm.
The two returned to their dormitory at Hogwarts.
Ian was still pondering the information received today, while Merlin looked out at the rising sun and changed into a new set of clothes; then he walked toward the door.
"I don't want to miss breakfast."
His words surprised the little wizard.
"Are you planning to continue using Ririm's identity to attend school?" Ian honestly didn't expect Merlin's passion for meals, nor did he anticipate Merlin intending to stay at Hogwarts.
"Why not?"
Merlin glanced back at Ian, then turned the door knob and walked out. In the hallway, many students were already up, unaware of what happened there just moments ago.
Students gathered in groups heading outside the dormitory area, and under the guise of the blond boy, Merlin blended seamlessly into the crowd of little wizards.
With a few familiar students, he laughed heartily, perfectly fitting into the segmented groups.
"That guy is really shameless... Well, old monsters are likely thick-skinned." Ian shook his head speechlessly, watching Merlin's departing figure.
He chose not to follow for breakfast but rather returned to his dormitory. His roommates William and Michael were casually chatting, and Ian joined their conversation.
Helplessly.
Ian also fit right into the segments.
"Hey, Ian, did you hear? Michael got played around by Little Black Sister yesterday!" William said with a smile, with a hint of mockery.
"Huh? What did I miss?"
Ian immediately put other matters aside, his heart fueled by gossip, this familiar atmosphere was almost forgotten, and he almost forgot he had a friend who was a fan.
And faced with William's mocking, Michael's dark face turned red, "She didn't mess with me! She just didn't want her friends to see her with me and then target me!"
"She did it for my sake! thought about me a lot!" Undoubtedly, Michael is indeed a simple big boy; he is practically hooked by Little Black Sister.
Little Black Sister's prowess in the realm of the caring sister is truly deep.
"I saw her carrying a bottle of Amortentia the day before." Ian also disclosed what he had noticed, instantly lighting up Michael's eyes.
He even thought his crush would use it on him.
However.
The little wizard's next words brutally crushed Michael's expectations.
"And yesterday, I found her Amortentia wasn't with her; I reckon it's used up." Ian blinked, attempting to awaken his roommate's love-struck brain with the truth he had discerned.
Yet.
He underestimated the terror of being love-struck.
Michael's reluctance to believe lasted only a moment; soon, he showed an unwavering, trusting expression, "She must have been carrying it for a friend."
"You all know that Rebecca loves helping others, which often leads her to be exploited by bad friends—there are a bunch of very bad girls in Slytherin."
Michael forcibly explained for his goddess.
"..."
Ian and William were quite speechless, exchanged glances, and couldn't help shaking their heads. Indeed, you can never awaken someone who is a fan; Michael perfectly illustrates this truth.
"This is youth!" Ian sympathetically patted Michael's shoulder and headed straight toward the dormitory's washroom; he needed a wash and a change of clothes—soon, it was time for class. In the Spell Classroom at Hogwarts, sunlight streamed through tall windows, illuminating the dust floating in the air.
The morning classes were not so difficult to endure, being the Spell Class of the Head of Ravenclaw House, and Ian was the head's favorite; the classroom experience was certainly top-notch.
Of course.
Ian did not pay much attention to the lecture; he occasionally glanced at the Elder Wand in his hand, still contemplating Merlin's words and pondering what would be special about the power of gods.
