Chapter 15 Exclusive Magic Wand
Chapter 15 Exclusive Magic Wand
"Dad, why are you being so nice to that guy?" Draco said, sounding a little aggrieved.
Lucius Malfoy glanced at him: "Of course, it's to pave the way for your future connections."
"Heh, it's our first meeting, and I think he already hates me." Draco rolled his eyes, seemingly not taking Lucius's words to heart.
"Good to know. Now let me test you. Now that you've offended the other party, how should you salvage the relationship?" Lucius asked quietly.
"What do we do?" Draco asked blankly.
"An orphan dressed in fine clothes, with fair skin, clearly enjoying life and disliking hardship, yet he is an orphan. What sustains him in all this?" Lucius prompted.
"...Money?" Draco probed, and soon he saw Lucius's relaxed smile. He continued, "Because he's an orphan, it's someone else's money, but the Weasleys and Hagrid don't seem like they're rich at all."
"That green-eyed kid, didn't you see the lightning bolt scar on his forehead? That's Harry Potter. The Potter family is rolling in money," Lucius reminded him at the right moment.
"...So I'm going to compete with Potter in spending money to steal Kaneheath's friendship?" Draco said, frowning.
Lucius knew very well that his son wasn't popular, so he set the requirements low: "Just ordinary friends who don't fight over him and aren't hostile to you, and of course, Harry Potter."
"So I have two more social tasks now?"
“That’s right.” Lucius nodded. “If I could, I’d even like to help you rekindle the Weasley family’s friendships.”
"A bunch of poor bastards, what good are they?" Draco said, scoffing.
"Because they're a group. Strength in numbers is always greater. Of course, if you don't want to, then forget it," Lucius said casually.
Draco watched the four figures disappear into the distance...
"They're all pure-blood wizards at least, so I'll give it a try, just a try."
"Good boy," Lucius said, reaching out to rub the back of Draco's head.
Meanwhile... Ollivander's Wand Shop.
"Compared to Diagon Alley, which might refresh the minds of kids with eyes on the top of their heads, this place is more comfortable. At least it's cool and there are no other living people around."
Kane had just finished speaking on the small sofa in the corner when the wind chimes by the door rang, and a little girl with slightly chestnut-brown, fluffy hair and a fair complexion walked in.
"Oh, there are so many people, should I come back later?" the little girl said instinctively.
"No need, Ollivander is just making a wand for Kane. He'll come out if you call him," Hagrid explained.
The little girl nodded: "Okay, my name is Hermione Granger, so you are all freshmen, except for your husband, of course."
The last sentence, "sir," was clearly addressed to Hagrid.
"As expected, I'm no longer young." Hagrid sighed, then began to introduce himself, followed by the introductions of everyone else in the room.
Hermione nodded, then walked around the room with her hands behind her back and on tiptoe.
She was just as interested in talking to other young wizards her age as she was in buying wands.
"Mr. Hagrid just said that Mr. Ollivander is making a custom wand for you?" Hermione walked up to Kane, who was staring at Raven.
Kane looked at the girl in front of him and nodded blankly.
"But what I read in the books is that the Ollivander family only uses three magical materials: unicorn hair, dragon heart nerves, and phoenix feathers. I've never heard of them making custom-made items..." Hermione looked puzzled. It wasn't a question, but rather a sense of unease.
Could it be that the difference between Muggle wizards and pure-blood wizards is already evident here?
Muggle wizards can only use common wands, while pure-blood wizards can have Ollivander make custom-made wands for them.
The path to becoming the number one student at Hogwarts is not exactly promising.
"Olivendell must have commissioned a lot of special wands, right? What do you think, Hagrid?" Kane awkwardly threw the question back at Hagrid.
Hagrid recalled, "Hmm, it seems that's true. In all my years as the game keeper at Hogwarts, I've seen many young wizards use wands custom-made by Ollivander, such as elderberry with Thestral tail feathers, elderberry with snake nerves, elderberry with Taotie fur, elderberry with unicorn fur, elderberry with feathers from various magical birds, and even the young wizards' own hair."
"Just how powerful is this elderberry? How come it's all this kind of wood?" Hermione interrupted at the right moment.
"Oh, no, it's just because Dumbledore's wand is an elder wand, and other elder wands are just tributes to that wand," Hagrid explained.
Hermione nodded and looked at Kane: "So Kane, your wand is also made of elderberry."
"Of course not. I've seen Dumbledore's original wand. It's all knots in the wood. It must be uncomfortable to hold," Kane said, waving his hand.
As soon as Kane finished speaking, Hermione's heart skipped a beat. She was a Muggle-born wizard who had just arrived in Diagon Alley today, while the pure-blood wizard, a Celestial Dragon, had already met with Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts, sometime earlier.
She even examined his wand up close and showed her disdain.
From this perspective, isn't the gap between Muggle wizards and pure-blood wizards enormous?
Kane, who was sitting on the sofa, had no idea that he, a poor little orphan, had been taken in by Hermione as a Celestial Dragon in the wizarding world. He was playing with the raven in the cage when suddenly footsteps came from the workshop, and Ollivander came out with Kane's wand.
"Mr. Heath, I bet you'll absolutely love having a wand." Ollivander smiled and placed the wand on the counter, waiting for Kane to come to the counter and take the wand himself—that too was a kind of ritual.
However, Kane didn't really care about those rituals; he just thought the wand on the counter looked like his long-lost third hand.
Perhaps because Kane's shadow was involved in everything from living wood to nightmare fuel, it was not much different from the wand growing out of Kane's body. He only had to think for a moment, and the wand flew towards his palm instantly.
Hermione stared wide-eyed at the scene: "Is this some kind of wandless spellcasting?"
Kane raised an eyebrow in confusion: "It's just a wand, is there really so much to it?"
After speaking, he looked at the wand in his hand. The bark and ordinary wood at the fist-shaped part had been removed, leaving only the glossy and dense core. It was of moderate thickness and slightly longer than a regular wand, so Ollivander made it slightly flatter and then inlaid mithril and crystal in the flat part.
The entire wand resembled a slender, concealed weapon blade.
As the living wood's outer garment was removed, the wailing face at one end shrank proportionally. Ollivander somehow bent that end of the face into a handle, and its mouth was nailed shut with two golden cross nails, preventing it from making a sound.
Seeing how well Kane and the wand complemented each other, Ollivander quickly exclaimed, "Try it! Try it!"
Kane nodded and casually waved his wand.
As the wand was waved, the gems embedded in the blade emitted a soft glow, and the previously obedient shadow beneath Kane's feet instantly became menacing. With Kane's tacit approval, the shadow left his feet and began to be tossed about by the movement of the wand.
Ollivander looked at the shop, which had been turned into a mess by Kane's Shadow, and felt no negative emotions whatsoever, only satisfaction with the wand he had made.
Kane quickly stopped what he was doing, reached out and played with the wand in his hand, quite satisfied.
Ollivander casually waved his wand, and the messy shop was cleaned up again.
Aside from the other three, Harry and Ron looked at Kane's wand, then at their own, and suddenly felt that their own wand wasn't so appealing anymore.
Hermione, mustering her courage, raised her hand: "Mr. Ollivander, what would I need to do if I wanted to have a wand custom-made?"
