Matsuda groggily crawled out of the police car, only to be grabbed by Inspector Yumigahara.
“Come on, let’s go see that mother and child.”
Matsuda glanced at his face; Inspector Yumikaze had two large dark circles under his eyes.
"Inspector, you didn't sleep all night, did you?" Matsuda asked in surprise.
"Investigating the scene, collecting evidence, when do I have time to sleep?"
As Inspector Gong Chang spoke, he couldn't help but yawn.
He noticed that Matsuda seemed a little embarrassed, but he just smiled without caring at all.
"Don't worry about it. You have no experience investigating fire scenes, so you probably can't do much. But it's up to you to question Kurokawa and his mother next."
……
Dean Kurokawa was murdered, and his mansion was burned down.
The Kurokawa mother and son, who had been having a run of bad luck these past two days, were accommodated in a nearby hotel last night by Inspector Yumigahara's men.
Upon seeing the familiar Matsuda, the mother and son's faces darkened further, and their bodies stiffened.
Seeing this, Matsuda could only shrug helplessly at Inspector Yumikasa. He hadn't expected the Kurokawa mother and son to be so wary of him.
Seriously, do these two think he's the Kurokawa family's jinx?
Inspector Gong, standing to the side, was also somewhat speechless.
He approached Inspector Megure, specifically requesting to borrow Matsuda, hoping to leverage Matsuda's sensitivity to criminal cases and see if he could uncover anything.
This series of arson attacks has now reached four incidents. For the first three, Inspector Gong and his team worked tirelessly for a long time, but still had no clue whatsoever.
That's why we brought in Matsuda, hoping to change our investigative approach and perhaps discover something.
Unexpectedly, Matsuda encountered trouble as soon as he appeared.
Left with no other option, Inspector Yumigata had to let Matsuda leave.
After all, the First Division does need manpower right now. We'll go find Matsuda after we've investigated something here.
……
Matsuda felt a surge of secret satisfaction at being let go by Minister Yumikaze.
He didn't report to Megure, but went directly to the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, to Yumi's side.
Matsuda clearly remembered that Megure had said last night that he would have Sato take over his work.
During this time, Matsuda has been busy with many things, but he hasn't spent much time with Sato. This is a good opportunity to cultivate their relationship.
……
At 11 a.m., Yumi, who had taken a nap late at night, walked into the office carrying two bags.
A burly, middle-aged man was sitting in the seat she had occupied the night before.
After taking the plastic bag from Yumi, the uncle opened the food bag, took a deep sniff of the fragrant rice, and then turned to the person next to him and said,
"It tastes really good! Matsuda, aren't you going to come and eat?"
"Hehe, I'm not hungry."
Matsuda stared at the screen with bloodshot eyes.
That expression was as if he were looking at his father's killer.
Right now, he only had one thing on his mind. The surname Sato is just too common in Japan!
I said goodbye to Inspector Yumio early in the morning and rushed back to the Metropolitan Police Department excitedly, originally hoping to spend some time with Sato.
As a result, the charming and beautiful Sato turned into a middle-aged man!
That fat bastard Megure, he can't even speak clearly!
Matsuda grabbed the bread as if it were Megure, took a big bite, and chewed it lifelessly.
Damn criminal, where did they take Octogen?
Matsuda ate his bread with a sullen face, his anger growing stronger and stronger.
"Matsuda, why don't you take a rest?"
Seeing Matsuda's blank expression, Uncle Sato kindly said something.
"It's alright, it'll be over soon..."
Just as Matsuda was about to refuse, his phone suddenly rang.
Now, who's causing trouble again?
Matsuda opened his phone and saw that it was Megure's number again! A sense of helplessness welled up inside him.
There's only one possibility for Inspector Megure calling at this time: something has happened somewhere again.
"Inspector, what's wrong now?" Matsuda pressed the answer button.
“Matsuda, my friend,” Megure said urgently, “we just received a report that there was an explosion at Tsugawa Green Park in Tsutsumi.”
Chapter 176 Bomb
"What? An explosion? Is anyone injured?" Shocked, Matsuda stood up immediately.
"No, it was just a small explosion. There's no news of anyone being injured yet," Inspector Megure continued. "In fact, we received another report before this."
"It's Professor Agasa. He said that Shinichi Kudo received a phone call from someone claiming to be the person who stole the Octogen from the Orient gunpowder depot. He told Shinichi to rush to Tsugawa Green Park, or children will die!"
The perpetrator's target was actually a child?
That's utterly inhuman!
Matsuda gasped.
"And now? Are the children who were coerced safe?"
"Well, thankfully, all the children are alright. I'm already on my way there."
Megure commanded,
"Brother Matsuda, we need you to come over here right now. After all, you are a bomb disposal expert and you have much more experience in handling these things than we do."
"it is good."
Without a second thought, Matsuda spoke to the person beside him.
"I have to leave for a bit. I'll leave this place to you, uncle."
After saying that, he didn't wait for Officer Sato's reply and quickly walked out of the office.
……
Matsuda was driving a police car, but before he arrived at the explosion site, Megure called again.
“Matsuda, we’ve received another report of an explosion near the highway… This time, a child was affected.” Megure said in a deep voice, “We’re heading there first. As for the Green Park, it’s up to you alone.”
"Okay, I understand," Matsuda replied. "By the way, what exactly happened? Did the explosion only get one child caught in it?"
"I don't know the specifics either." Megure's voice also revealed doubt. "I'll investigate the specific reasons when I get to the scene. Matsuda, you just need to take care of your own business. Don't get distracted by me. You should focus your energy on this."
"Understood. I'll be at Green Park soon, Inspector. I'll contact you in a bit."
Matsuda hung up the phone, stepped on the gas, and accelerated again.
……
As soon as Matsuda arrived at the green park, he saw a large group of people gathered together, pointing and talking about something not far away.
Thanks to them, Matsuda didn't need to search; he immediately knew where the explosion site was.
As soon as he got closer, he saw several familiar faces.
It's those same little brats again!
Matsuda sighed inwardly. Not far ahead of him, Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta were gathered around a pile of charred remains.
"Officer Matsuda, you're here!" Ayumi, with her sharp eyes, was the first to notice Matsuda.
"Officer Matsuda, did you come here because of the explosion just now?"
"Officer Matsuda, what do you want to know? We're here to tell you. We know everything that just happened."
Genta and Mitsuhiko were also making a racket there.
"Alright! Stop arguing, one at a time!"
It took Matsuda quite a bit of effort to calm the three excited kids down a little.
"Mitsuhiko, you tell us."
He looked at the three children and chose the slightly more composed Mitsuhiko.
"Just answer my questions, and don't say anything unnecessary."
"Why do we have to make Mitsuhiko report this..." Genta muttered in dissatisfaction.
Matsuda ignored him and continued to ask Mitsuhiko, "Was there an explosion here just now? Yes or no?"
"Yes, we..."
Mitsuhiko nodded, as if he wanted to say something more.
Matsuda, not wanting to waste any more time, immediately interrupted him.
"Is anyone injured? Yes or no?"
"No, you can go ahead..."
This time, indignant, Genta covered Mitsuhiko's mouth and shouted out his answer.
Mitsuhiko was naturally unhappy about this, and the two brats immediately started fighting.
"One last question... never mind,"
Matsuda shook his head, giving up on the two unruly children, and turned to look at the girl who had been obedient and quiet since the beginning.
"Ayumi, what exactly exploded? And what are these things scattered on the ground?"
