Chapter 331 Star Gate
Chapter 331 Star Gate
Chapter 331 Star Gate
Gazing into Antonio's eyes, Yuri discerned many things that ordinary people could not see.
It has its own emotions and essence, as well as its ideology which is no different from Yuri's.
With just one glance, Yuri could tell that it was indeed Antonio, and that he was not controlled by the evil spirits and was still loyal to Epsilon.
However, although he was Antonio, he was not the Antonio that Yuri knew.
He is just a similar flower.
"Mentor, what do you mean by this?" The blade named Antonio was somewhat puzzled.
“Literal,” Yuri said, glancing at the composed young man beside him, “Mormontes, do you know what’s going on?”
Without hesitation, Modi said, "He is not from this timeline. He is an counterpart of someone you know who was brought to the wrong timeline by the power of evil."
"Does this mean that the Antonio we know has most likely met with some misfortune?" Rahn asked, frowning.
"Perhaps." Modi didn't bother to check the timeline, but just casually guessed, "But it's also possible that he ended up in another timeline and bumped into another Yuri, just like he did."
Yuri paused for a moment, looked at Antonio, whose body was tense, and focused his gaze on the wound on his severed arm. He said, "Rahn, help him restore the special armor."
A severed arm is not a big problem; the blade itself is an amorphous material and can regenerate at any time.
The missing armor is the real problem; if the gaps aren't plugged, the blade itself will become the biggest source of contamination over time.
Rahn accepted the order, switched the restoration beam weapon to normal repair function, and aimed it at Antonio's fracture.
After a flash of green light, the missing left arm armor suddenly reappeared, much to Antonio's astonishment.
"What is this?" He was beginning to believe Mordy's words. "Commander Rahn doesn't have this weapon on my side."
.
"The Restoration Beam is just a civilian tool," Mordy replied. "In that case, the gift I'm giving to Rahn over there should be the Piercing Thorn Spear, right?"
The Piercing Thorn Spear was a laser weapon he designed for Rahn, modeled after his own Unchanging End Spear.
If Rahn hadn't ultimately chosen to restore the beam, the First Legion would now be wielding the Piercing Death Thorn Spear.
The Piercing Thorn Spear is a purely lethal weapon, lacking the multi-functionality of the Restoration Beam.
After weighing the two options, Rahn ultimately chose the latter, which would allow him to better protect his other comrades.
"Yes, the weapon that my Legion Commander Rahn carries is the Piercing Thorn Spear," Antonio said. "We all use this standard weapon."
"It seems that the Rahn from your area has a much more volatile temper than the one in front of you," Mordy said.
He prepared two options for Rahn because he knew that Rahn might take two completely different paths.
One is called brutality, which is an extension of his original personality, while the other is called rationality, which is his transformation.
Clearly, Rahn, who was in front of him, had taken the second path, while Antonio's legion commander had taken the first.
"Tell me, what are your plans?" Yuri asked slowly. "Would you like to join us?"
"Can't I go back?" Antonio asked first.
"That's very likely the case. Even if you find another demon, you might not be able to return to the original timeline."
"I see... I'd like to ask, what are the philosophies of you in this world, and of Epsilon?"
Antonio asked seriously, and Yuri's response to this question would determine whether he would stay.
Yuri did not speak, but answered the question in a more subtle and deeper way.
The psychic energy accurately conveyed his meaning, as well as his and the entire Epsilon's philosophy.
"I understand." Antonio nodded solemnly, knelt on one knee, and said, "I am willing to serve you. As long as your ideals remain unchanged, you will always be my mentor."
Yuri nodded, raised his hand to help the familiar yet unfamiliar warrior up, and in the flash of his spiritual energy, he seemed to see the future.
He will soon have a second legion commander.
The fact that Antonio could kill a demon single-handedly, at the cost of only an arm, is itself a testament to his ability.
After Antonio returned to the team, Yuri changed the defensive measures based on his advice.
As a result, no one mysteriously disappeared on the second half of the journey.
Without exception, all the demons that attempted to launch a sneak attack crashed headlong into Yuri's mental barrier, revealing their forms and being defeated and captured by the blades.
It is difficult for a single Blade to defeat a demon, with Rahn and Antonio being exceptions.
However, if the blades are combined, defeating a single demon is easy, and under the leadership of their legionary commander, it is not impossible to fight against multiple demons.
With this foundation, and the addition of Yuri as their mentor, they were able to easily crush the demons' offensive.
The First Legion, like a sharp dagger, plunged straight into the heart of the demonic realm, leaving behind streaks of starlight-like colors wherever it went, as if brushstrokes had been casually left on a canvas.
Those were fragments of demons, and also demon blood. Logically, the First Legion should have cleaned them up to avoid leaving any contamination.
But Yuri and the other soldiers all knew that their time was running out.
Only after addressing the root cause of everything will they have time to clean up the pollution.
"Is that the root of evil?"
Yuri's expression turned solemn. The unchanging darkness before him was gone, and a mysterious, diamond-blue light was faintly appearing ahead.
Taking another step, the darkness completely dissipated, and the view suddenly opened up.
A blinding light suddenly descended, and the warriors of the First Legion couldn't help but squint as they surveyed this mysterious alternate dimension.
Beyond the other dimension lies an impenetrable darkness, while within it emanates a profound cobalt blue radiance.
The ground was no longer hard frozen soil, but soft meadows, where blue-purple flowers that seemed to be made of energy bloomed everywhere, dazzling and making people feel as if they were in a fairy tale dream.
Further ahead, a huge, silver, circular structure stands silently, resembling the unchanging permafrost of the outside world. Its existence is as long as that of Antarctica, or even far surpasses it.
"That's a stargate," Mordi said calmly, his tone completely unwavering, as if he had known of its existence all along. "Perhaps it was built by the Ancients, or perhaps it existed before the Ancients came."
"Even you don't know its origin?" Yuri asked, knowing that Mordy could observe timelines and knew the answers to most of the world's questions.
"Of course I know, but what if it has multiple origins?" Mordy countered.
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that the past is not fixed. In my eyes, it may have been built by the Ancient Ones or by the hand of ancient demons."
To explain further, Mordy added: "The timelines overlapped in the past, and it happens to be at the point of overlap, which gives it two origins at the same time. As for what its final origin is, that depends on the observations of future generations."
"So, its origin depends on us?"
Despite the convoluted nature of his words, Yuri managed to decipher them as best he could.
For them, it is truly hard to imagine that future observations could determine what has already happened.
"Will the two origins have different effects on us?" Yuri asked again.
"Yes, but that's not what you should be thinking about right now. What you should be thinking about is how to deal with the surging demons."
As soon as they finished speaking, the blades drew their swords from their waists and activated their massive, cumbersome anti-demon weapons, looking around warily.
The surrounding sea of flowers remained unchanged, and the star gate showed no abnormalities, but they knew that the others had arrived.
"Beware of their contamination of the laws of physics."
Yuri reminded him.
All cognitive pollution is essentially the pollution of the present world by evil forces, which researchers at Epsilon call "collapse".
The existence of collapse renders many weapons created based on the laws of reality almost ineffective. Once ordinary people step into the realm of evil, they will be seriously injured or even die suddenly.
Only blades implanted with demonic fragments can rely on their own nature to offset the effects within a small area, and are not afraid of the collapse of the demons.
Furthermore, anti-demon weapons implanted with demon fragments can also be used normally.
Modi prefers to call them demon engines.
"The air pressure changes are unpredictable, so be on your guard and watch out for their attacks."
As soon as Rahn finished speaking, the senses emanating from the demon made him feel as if he had thorns in his back.
Behind him, a colorful mist seeped out of thin air and gradually coalesced into a sphere waving its tentacles.
With the advent of [something], the air pressure changes more rapidly and drastically, fluctuating wildly without any regularity.
If the people present were ordinary, they would be experiencing chest tightness, dizziness, and severe pain in turn, but not the razor-wielders.
They anchored themselves to reality with the demonic fragments within their bodies, transforming the land where they and their comrades resided into the kingdom of Epsilon.
When they travel above the kingdom, they will not be affected by the collapse of the outside world, unless the kingdom is invaded.
"Die." Rahn naturally noticed the strange thing behind him, and the moment he turned around, the restoration beam in his hand was fully charged.
A ghastly green beam shot out from the cannon barrel, striking the star-shaped sphere directly.
The demon uttered irregular murmurs, its body silently transforming into a pool of multicolored, pigment-like substance that flowed freely across the meadow.
Meanwhile, Rahn's comrades also have their own adversaries, and the battle between the First Legion and the demons has officially begun.
"Guard your hearts, and don't let fear become nourishment for your enemies and a new enemy!"
Yuri saw emotional entities appear on the outside, beings quite different from demons, born from the emotions of life by relying on the collapse of reality by demons.
"Second squad, you are responsible for guarding against emotional entities. The rest of you, join me in exterminating the evil spirits."
With a wave of his hand, his spiritual energy gathered into a surging wave that crashed against the suddenly appearing demon.
Ordinary demons are no match for him; with just a thought, he can tear apart the lower-ranking demons.
But the number of demons is enormous, seemingly endless. Even if he can wipe out a large number with a wave of his hand, more demons will emerge the next moment.
It is almost impossible to eliminate evil without eliminating the root of all evil.
"Star Gate".
A flash of inspiration struck Yuri's mind like lightning.
He looked at Modi and received a single sentence in response.
"Go for it," he said.
Yuri no longer hesitated. He immediately proclaimed to the Blades, "Warriors of Epsilon, advance! Spread your kingdom to the vicinity of the Stargate!"
"Your will!"
The blades responded with a unified roar, and a pitch-black sphere appeared in their hands, looking unusually deep, like a black hole.
Under their control, the sphere shot straight toward the stargate, then suddenly exploded, releasing a large plume of rising black mist.
Wherever the black fog shrouds, the kingdom follows like a shadow.
As the First Legion moved toward the Stargate, the surrounding demons sensed the threat and intensified their attacks.
Within minutes, several people were in grave danger.
Their uniforms were torn, their blades shattered, and amorphous demonic matter flowed from their wounds, as if hinting at the loss of their lives.
But the warriors of Epsilon would not simply wait to die; from the moment the modifications were completed, they knew the fate that awaited them.
Losing control is their destiny; they will always have to face this final outcome. Therefore, every Blade is prepared to burn its remaining body before being modified.
The dying Blade dropped his weapon and plunged one hand into his own chest, grasping his own core with unerring precision.
He was barely recognizable as human, with tendrils sprouting from his body, desperately pulling at the arm piercing his chest, trying to stop his suicide attempt.
The evil is rising from within him, and these tentacles are the manifestation of His will.
"
"The glory of humanity will live on forever! Long live Epsilon!"
As it roared, the blade rushed to the front of the group and, outside the kingdom, crushed its own core.
A violent annihilation occurred, and black fog swept across the meadow, opening up a relatively safe passage for the First Legion.
The other dying blades repeated his actions, exchanging their own annihilation for the opening of the passage.
They left nothing but their kingdom.
"Forward, do not let their sacrifice be in vain," Rahn calmly commanded the blades.
They had no time for grief; all they had was to move forward by any means necessary.
Although the distance between them and the Star Gate may seem short, only those who have actually embarked on this path know just how far it truly is.
The demons' collapse and distortion of reality have distorted space, and they would waste the most energy and time if they tried to travel in a straight line.
Therefore, they must accurately grasp the changes in space and calculate the shortest path in the distorted space. If they are not careful, they will fall into a spatial trap.
Many sharp blades have paid a precious price to avoid traps, leaving only the nation as a warning.
The legion moved through the kingdom's black mist, surrounded by wolves, slowly approaching the stargate.
"We've arrived." Yuri looked up and saw the outline of a massive stargate in front of him.
The door frame is a reflection of the starry sky, and also the source of evil.
"This stargate connects to an alternate dimension," Mordy said. "You'll have to find a way to shut it down."
"Can't we just destroy it?" Rahn frowned.
He shook his head and advised, "I advise you not to do this. The Star Gate may be the root of evil, but it is also the way out for humanity. You will need it in the future."
"Then find a way to shut it down," Yuri ordered. "First Legion, buy me some time."
The responses were uniform.
"Your will!"
