"Yes! I will go!"
Genos suddenly straightened up and answered loudly and firmly, startling Saitama and Lin Mo who were about to sit down.
“However!” His tone shifted, his electronic eyes flashing with a burning light as he stared intently at the two of them:
"Before registering, I would like to ask the teacher and Mr. KING to have a thorough discussion with me!"
The air in the room seemed to freeze instantly.
"A teacher who doesn't know why he's so powerful, and King, who's widely recognized as the 'strongest man on earth'..."
Genos thought to himself, his core processor was running at an astonishing speed.
"By engaging in actual combat with them, I might be able to glimpse a small part of the iceberg of their powerful secrets from the combat data."
"This will have immeasurable significance for my future direction!"
Chapter 27 Genos's Challenge
Faced with this sudden challenge, Saitama simply blinked and casually replied:
"Oh, a friendly spar? Okay. Let's eat first, I'm starving."
However, Lin Mo, standing to the side, merely raised an eyebrow slightly.
If it had been a few days earlier, he probably would have been drenched in cold sweat by now, faced with this situation.
But now, things are different.
Having acquired [Sonic Movement (Demon-level)], he now possesses the speed to contend with Genos.
Although his attack and defense capabilities are still weaknesses, at least he is no longer that "weak" man.
Moreover, with the added pressure (Dragon-level), this situation shouldn't be a problem.
Buzz—buzz—buzz—buzz—
The Emperor Engine within him roared involuntarily, so loud that Saitama and Genos could hear it clearly.
Looking at Genos's expectant eyes and then at Saitama's "taken-for-granted" expression, one can see the answer.
He maintained his perpetually cold and aloof expression and slowly nodded.
Genos's eyes shone brightly, and he bowed deeply: "Thank you very much! Then, let's arrange to meet tomorrow morning!"
------
Outside the apartment building, on a half-demolished construction site, three people stood facing each other, forming an invisible triangle.
The area was spacious enough, with gravel and steel bars scattered everywhere, making it a natural training ground.
"Then, please take care of me!" Genos bowed solemnly.
He wasn't wearing any casual clothes today, revealing his brand-new, upgraded mechanical upper body.
The streamlined torso is covered with fine heat dissipation vents and energy conduits, and the shoulders are equipped with thruster-like modules. The structure of the arms is also thicker than before.
"Ah, okay. Let's finish this quickly, we still have to go to the Hero Association."
Saitama yawned, still looking sleepy. He was wearing his signature yellow combat suit, his white cape swaying gently in the breeze.
King stood stiffly to the side, expressionless, with his hands in his jacket pockets.
He appeared calm and collected, but was actually a little flustered.
This was his first serious battle.
"Then, as agreed last night, please allow me to challenge the teacher first!" Genos set his sights on Saitama first.
“Okay,” Saitama replied casually.
Before he could finish speaking, Genos moved.
The ground beneath his feet cracked instantly, and the newly installed leg thrusters burst forth with dazzling blue flames.
He transformed into a silver lightning bolt, instantly breaking the sound barrier, and the resulting shockwave whipped up the rubble and dust on the ground into a small tornado.
Genos's figure darted through the ruins at high speed, leaving behind a series of afterimages that dazzled the eye.
His tactical analysis system was running at full speed, locking onto and simulating attacks on Saitama from hundreds of angles and directions.
"The teacher barely moved... no, his gaze was fixed on me the whole time!"
"At this speed, he shouldn't even be able to keep up with my movements!"
"Then let's try this!"
During a high-speed turnaround, Genos suddenly ascended into the air, his arms crossed in front of his chest, and the energy core in his palms shone brightly.
"Machine gun punch!"
In an instant, countless fist shadows rained down from the sky like a storm.
The intense attack covered an area of dozens of meters around Saitama, leaving the ground riddled with holes and filled with smoke and dust.
However, when the smoke cleared, Saitama was still standing in the same spot, without even a speck of dust on him.
"What?!" Genos's electronic eyes shrank to two tiny dots.
His sensors clearly recorded that in less than a second, Saitama effortlessly neutralized all of his attacks with a speed completely exceeding the limits of his dynamic visual perception.
"Please don't hold back!" Genos steadied himself in mid-air and shouted earnestly.
Scorching steam began to billow from the vents all over his body, and he immediately turned the core power up to the maximum without hesitation. "Give it your all, teacher!"
Genos's right arm armor unfolded layer by layer, revealing crimson energy lines inside, where destructive energy was gathering.
A thick, spiraling beam of flame erupted, instantly scorching and distorting the air in its path.
However, just as he was about to strike Saitama, Saitama vanished from his spot.
"What!?" Genos's core alert level instantly spiked to its highest. "Scan... behind us!"
Without the slightest hesitation, Genos suddenly turned around, his waist engine blazing, propelling his alloy legs in a sharp arc as he unleashed a powerful sweeping leg.
But it was all gone.
Saitama simply leaned back slightly and easily dodged the punch at an unbelievable angle, then casually threw a punch forward.
There was no fanfare; it looked like a simple punch.
But in Genos's sensory world, the arrival of this punch felt as if the entire world had been deleted.
Genos's mind was instantly filled with that one word.
At the critical moment, the fist stopped less than a centimeter away from his cheek.
"Alright, that's over." Saitama withdrew his fist and looked at King. "Your turn."
The aftershocks of Saitama's punch only truly erupted after he withdrew his fist. An invisible shockwave swept past Genos's body and outwards into the distance behind him.
Genos turned around stiffly and saw that the abandoned streets and the remaining buildings that had been in the distance had completely disappeared.
A massive ravine, hundreds of meters wide, appeared out of nowhere and stretched toward the horizon.
After a long pause, Genos finally found his voice. He bowed deeply to Saitama once more and said:
"Yes, teacher. I understand. The gap between us is still immeasurable... Thank you for your guidance."
He turned to KING, but his golden electronic eyes were now somewhat confused.
Having just personally experienced his teacher's unfathomable strength, he is now about to face another absolute powerhouse, known as "the strongest on earth" and "on par with his teacher"—KING.
"This is fucking outrageous... Saitama." Lin Mo couldn't help but click his tongue as he looked at the street.
Then, he heard the sound of his own heart.
"Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!"
The roar of the Emperor's engine echoed across the open space.
"【Pressure (Dragon Level)】, activate!" Lin Mo thought to himself.
Strike first, and you'll always be the best option.
The instant Lin Mo gave the order, an invisible, terrifying pressure erupted from him!
Genos, who was still reeling from the shock of Saitama's power and bewilderment at his own weakness, was instantly overwhelmed by this sudden and immense pressure.
To Saitama and King's astonishment, Genos's light dimmed instantly, and he fell straight backward, crashing heavily to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.
Chapter 28 Hero Assessment
The abandoned construction site was deathly silent.
Only the "Emperor Engine" within Lin Mo's body, roaring like a war drum, continued to resonate.
Saitama blinked, looked at Genos lying stiffly on the ground, then turned to look at King beside him, who was expressionless with his hands in his pockets, his face full of confusion.
"Uh... what happened to him?" Saitama scratched his bald head and asked, "What did you do to him? I didn't see anything."
"I'm not sure either! Is Genos really that afraid of mental shocks?" Lin Mo's mind was screaming.
He's completely panicked. Will Genos actually die of fright? Are cyborgs really that psychologically fragile?
Faced with Saitama's question, Lin Mo could only remain silent and had to say something that sounded impressive to get away with it.
He slowly shifted his gaze from the fallen Genos, looking towards the massive chasm created by Saitama's punch in the distance, silently praying that Genos would wake up soon, and said:
"Heart?" Saitama was even more confused.
"True strength does not come solely from the physical body."
Lin Mo's voice was deep and magnetic, "A strong spirit and a strong will are the steps to the peak. His heart is not firm enough."
These words were plagiarized from a motivational comic he had read before, in a moment of desperation.
But saying it now is quite convincing.
Saitama nodded as if he understood, though he didn't quite grasp what he was saying.
But it sounds much more advanced than my own training method of "100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, plus a 10-kilometer run every day".
So he stopped asking and just felt that King was indeed an unfathomable guy.
