Chapter 38 The Journey, Part 1
Chapter 38 The Journey, Part 1
Four months later, in the forest north of the Heavenly Soul Empire, the bright moon hung high, and the air was cold and silent.
Suddenly, several whooshing sounds and the cracking of rocks broke the silence.
The next moment, a figure darted out of a cave and ran wildly through the night forest.
Then a furious curse came from the cave, followed by another figure rushing out, but this one was faster, like an arrow shot from a bow, hurtling towards the figure in front.
At the same time, he roared, "You scum, if you've got the guts, don't run away. Fight me fair and square, and I'll tear you apart and eat every last drop of your flesh."
At this moment, the man had disheveled hair and a ferocious face. Crimson blood flowed from the wounds on his body, but he paid no attention to the rays. His blood-red eyes were fixed on the figure in front of him.
Strange scales grew on his body, patchy here and there, not covering his entire body. A pair of pale, bone-like scales covered his arms and hands, then sharp, blade-like bones grew from his hands, and then terrifying fangs appeared in his mouth.
At the same time, the bloody smell clinging to his body, along with the human bone decorations he wore, made him appear utterly deranged.
The fact that this madness was accompanied by a faint resentment indicated that the other party was not a normal Soul Master.
As he roared and cursed, he increased his speed and began to close in on the figure in front of him.
Just then, three yellow century-old soul rings behind him began to flash, and then he transformed into a black shadow and pounced forward.
Upon seeing this scene through mental detection, the boy, who was still trying to distance himself from the person behind him, immediately reacted by rolling to the side.
Just after the boy made this move, there was a loud bang, like a boulder falling to the ground, raising a cloud of dust in the original spot.
And in this scene, the blood-red eyes looked toward the boy, and then the figure immediately ran toward him.
But at that moment, the boy skillfully raised the soul-guided ray gun in his hand, and even when he saw the person in front of him rushing towards him, he did not panic at all.
He then channeled his soul power into the gun, pulled the trigger, and fired several beams straight at the opponent's face.
Upon seeing this, the other person did not stop walking or dodge, but instead raised an arm to protect their face.
Subsequently, several soul-guided rays struck him directly, but were blocked by the scales on his arms.
When these attacks made contact with the scales on the arm, a cracking sound was heard, and the soul-guided rays pierced through the scales and entered the opponent's flesh.
However, after these attacks pierced through the scales, their power began to weaken significantly. They did not actually penetrate the opponent's arm. Blood and flesh flowed from the wounds, but this did not affect the opponent's speed.
Perhaps the pain in his arm only fueled his emotions. He laughed wildly and sped up, continuing to charge towards the person in front of him. The sharp blade in his hand gleamed with a chilling light under the moonlight.
At this moment, in his eyes, at this distance, the other party was already a corpse, with only the fate of being devoured by him.
However, even as he was laughing wildly, Huo Yuhao maintained his gun-aiming stance.
Seeing that the attack had not caused much hesitation in the opponent's actions, he was not surprised by the effect of those soul-guided rays, as he had anticipated it.
However, at this moment, the boy showed no panic. Just like shooting in the wasteland, he became calmer and more composed as he watched the enemy rushing towards him get closer and closer.
After all, if you panic at this moment, turning around and running away will only turn you into prey to be slaughtered, leaving you with only one outcome: being bitten to death by wild beasts.
So he stood still, watching his opponent pounce on him, while simultaneously noticing the opponent's increasingly obvious weaknesses.
The moment the opportunity arose, soul power was injected again, the trigger was pulled, and a ray shot out quickly. Before the opponent could react, it shot directly into the opponent's eye, and then a blood-red flower bloomed from it.
The next moment, a scream came from his mouth, and then his whole body staggered.
"Damn it!" He roared, staring ahead with one eye wide open, but the person who had been in front of him just moments before had vanished without a trace.
Faced with this scene, he instantly felt a chill run down his spine and immediately began scanning his surroundings with his only remaining eye, desperately trying to find the other person's whereabouts.
In the forest, Huo Yuhao took out a metal bullet the size of a little finger from his storage soul tool. A soul guidance array was engraved on the outside of the bullet. Then he loaded the bullet into the soul guidance ray gun in his hand.
Suddenly, a faint metallic clanging sound came from the surrounding woods to the other person's ears.
Upon hearing the sound, he didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately pounced forward, brandishing his sharp blade.
The next moment, several large trees in front of them were cut in half, and even the surrounding bushes were not spared.
As the sound of trees crashing to the ground rang out, he looked around, panting heavily. He had used all his strength in that attack, but no blood appeared, which meant that the attack had missed.
However, the next second, he felt dizzy. Just as he was stunned, a whooshing sound came, and then he saw with his own eyes that the bullet was flying directly toward his eye.
All of this happened so fast that he barely had time to react, and could only instinctively use his other, uninjured arm to block it.
But when he used the scales on his arm to protect his face, he felt the pain of his arm being pierced, accompanied by the sound of bones breaking.
The next moment, the world before his eyes turned completely black.
Just as he instinctively wanted to curse aloud, in the instant darkness enveloped him, a sound of tearing flesh rang out, and a huge hole appeared in his left eye socket, piercing right through it.
Normally, this power wouldn't have been fatal to him given the protective scales on his body; at most, it would have crippled an arm. But now that it's inside his eye socket, the situation is completely different.
The force of the piercing wound tore half of his face apart, causing blood to spurt out, and a shrill, hoarse roar echoed throughout the forest.
After all this happened, his consciousness quickly began to blur, and he began to lose control of his body.
Everything he had experienced before his death began to appear in his mind at this moment. In the real world, as half of his face was torn apart, some bones were blown away, and even part of his brain was exposed.
Even so, he did not die immediately. His body, which had consumed countless amounts of flesh and blood, was still maintaining his existence.
His eyes are now just bloody holes, and half of his face has been torn apart, with bones and flesh exposed.
At this moment, he could see nothing, and he only had one ear left, before his consciousness completely lost control of his body.
He couldn't understand why, despite possessing the strength of a three-ring Soul Master, he was so helpless against a Soul Master with only a one-ring, ten-year white Soul Ring, and was now being driven to the brink of death.
But at this moment, he couldn't think of anything else. Facing the boy who had just fought, all he felt was instinctive anger and revenge.
Upon seeing this, Huo Yuhao frowned slightly, clearly not expecting that his attack would not have completely eliminated his opponent.
He gained a new understanding of what he had just used, and at the same time, he needed to improve upon it.
At the same time, he thought to himself, "This evil spirit master's vitality is truly tenacious."
At this moment, the other party was panting heavily, blood was flowing out continuously, and a hoarse sound came from his throat. Then, relying on the last instinct of his consciousness, he pushed off with both feet and used his last strength to pounce on the boy.
Seeing the opponent's final counterattack before death, the boy did not raise the soul-guided ray gun in his hand to fire. Instead, he looked ahead, calculated the position and angle in his mind, and then, with the help of his mental power, quickly recited a spell.
Then, a magic circle appeared beneath the enemy who pounced on the boy, and the surrounding elements began to gather.
The next moment, several bone spurs appeared, piercing the opponent from bottom to top, even penetrating his skull.
Even at this point, the other person's body was still convulsing and had not completely stopped.
The body, which had consumed the flesh and blood of countless people, was now emanating a black aura. It then transformed into a fleeting, vengeful spirit and lunged towards the boy.
Faced with this scene, a golden light appeared in the boy's eyes, and then his spiritual power began to surge. Subsequently, a faint white flame appeared in his palm.
Seeing the approaching vengeful spirit, Huo Yuhao immediately slapped it, instantly enveloping a cluster of white flames the moment it touched the spirit.
Then the boy heard the vengeful spirit's screams, which then crumbled and disappeared in the white flames, its entire soul burning away.
Then, with a casual wave of his hand, the bone spikes that had appeared on the ground disappeared, leaving only a corpse lying on the ground.
