Chapter 43 Makes Your Heart Rush
Chapter 43 Makes Your Heart Rush
Lin Weiwei reacted quickly and grabbed his waist.
His waist was slender yet strong; you could feel the taut muscles beneath his soaked shirt.
Bai Si'an stiffened for a moment, then steadied himself and pushed her away, saying, "I told you it's nothing."
Lin Weiwei loosened her grip without saying a word, but her eyes were full of worry.
The wall was gradually built up, and by 3 p.m., it had reached the height of a person.
The wooden frame on Bai Rongbei and Zhao Dayong's side was almost finished, with several thick rafters laid across the wall and firmly secured with iron nails.
"Technician Bai, you've finished building this side!" Liu Aiguo shouted.
Bai Si'an responded and carried the stool over.
This is the corner of the toilet. The brick wall has been built up to 1.8 meters high. A few more layers will be added before it's topped off.
Bai Si'an stood on the stool and began laying the last few layers of bricks.
He laid the bricks very carefully, making sure each brick fit perfectly.
Lin Weiwei handed him a brick from below, looking up at him.
The sunlight shone from the side, outlining the lines of his profile.
Sweat streamed down his chin and dripped onto the bricks. His white shirt was soaked through, clinging to his back and revealing streaks of sweat.
She suddenly realized that the way this man worked so diligently was actually quite charming.
Just as she was lost in thought, an accident occurred.
As Bai Si'an finished laying a brick and was about to reach for the next one, the brick he was standing on suddenly loosened.
It was built in the morning. Maybe the mortar wasn't spread evenly or the bricks weren't soaked in water. After being exposed to the sun and bearing weight for most of the day, it actually started to move.
The stool suddenly shook!
"Ah!" Lin Weiwei exclaimed in surprise.
Bai Si'an swayed to the side, instinctively reaching out to grab the brick wall beside him, but he was still holding a trowel and bricks and couldn't get a grip.
The brick wall that was half-built collapsed with a "crash" because of his movement!
"Watch out!" Liu Aiguo shouted from the other side.
Bai Si'an fell off the stool, and as he hit the ground, several bricks came crashing down, one of which hit him squarely on his right shoulder!
A muffled "bang" was heard.
"Bai Si'an!" Lin Weiwei was so frightened that her soul almost left her body, and she rushed over.
Bai Rongbei and Zhao Dayong also rushed over from that side.
Bai Si'an lay on the ground, his face ashen, his glasses lying on the side, the lenses shattered.
He gritted his teeth and didn't make a sound, but beads of cold sweat instantly appeared on his forehead.
"How are you? Where are you hurt?" Bai Rongbei squatted down, his voice tense.
"Shoulder..." Bai Si'an squeezed out two words through gritted teeth.
Lin Weiwei had already seen his right shoulder.
The army green shirt was torn by a brick, and blood seeped out, quickly staining the area red.
Her mind went blank, and her hands trembled: "It's bleeding...so much blood..."
"Don't panic," Bai Rongbei said calmly, gently pressing Bai Si'an's shoulder. "The bones should be fine; it's probably just a superficial injury."
Bai Si'an grunted and nodded.
"Help him up," Bai Rongbei said to Zhao Dayong, "to the medical team."
"No need..." Bai Si'an struggled to sit up on his own, "It's not that serious..."
"Shut up." Bai Rongbei's tone was stern. "Zhao Dayong!"
Zhao Dayong and Bai Rongbei quickly helped Bai Si'an up, one on each side.
Bai Si'an's right shoulder hurt so much that he couldn't use his strength, and his entire right arm was hanging down.
He gritted his teeth, his face deathly pale.
Lin Weiwei picked up his broken glasses, her hands still trembling: "To the medical team... I'll go call a car..."
"Wait," Bai Si'an gasped, "Let's go back to my yard first... I have a medicine box in my room."
Bai Rongbei glanced at him: "Can you leave?"
"Yes." Bai Si'an nodded and tried to take a step, but his right leg went weak.
Lin Weiwei immediately rushed over and supported his uninjured left arm: "Let me help you."
She was a head shorter than Bai Si'an, but she was incredibly strong, practically pushing him forward with her shoulders.
"I..." Bai Si'an wanted to say something.
"Don't speak!" Lin Weiwei interrupted him, her voice trembling with tears. "Let's go!"
Bai Rongbei said to Zhao Dayong and the others, "You guys continue, I'll take him there."
Chen Jianjun and Liu Aiguo both nodded: "Go quickly, we'll take care of things here."
Bai Rongbei and Lin Weiwei helped Bai Si'an out of the courtyard and headed towards the next house.
Baisian has a first-aid kit; I need to go there to treat the wound first.
Pushing open the fence gate, the yard was empty, and the house was locked.
Bai Rongbei took the key out of Bai Si'an's pocket and opened the door.
"Where is the medicine box?" Bai Rongbei asked.
"Under the bed... a metal box." Bai Si'an gasped in pain.
Bai Rongbei bent down and dragged a military-green tin medicine box from under the bed. He opened it and found gauze, iodine, mercurochrome, and painkillers all inside.
"Sit down." Bai Rongbei pressed Bai Si'an down onto the bed.
Lin Weiwei stood beside him, her eyes fixed on his bleeding shoulder, her hands clenched tightly.
Bai Rongbei took out scissors and carefully cut open Bai Si'an's shirt at the shoulder.
The fabric was stuck to the wound with blood. He moved very gently, but it still made Bai Si'an gasp.
The shirt was cut open, revealing the wound underneath.
Thankfully, it's not serious.
The brick broke my skin, the wound was about three or four centimeters long, not deep, but it bled quite a bit, and the area around it was swollen and bluish-purple.
"It's just a flesh wound," Bai Rongbei breathed a sigh of relief, "no bones were broken. But it needs to be disinfected and bandaged to prevent infection."
He took out iodine and cotton swabs, and looked at Lin Weiwei: "You do it."
Lin Weiwei was taken aback: "Me?"
"Okay." Bai Rongbei handed her the iodine. "I'm heavy-handed, so be gentle. I'll go get a basin of water and help him wipe himself down."
After he finished speaking, he took the basin and went outside.
Only Lin Weiwei and Bai Si'an remained in the room.
Lin Weiwei held the iodine bottle, her hands still trembling: "I...I don't know how..."
"It's very simple," Bai Si'an said in a hoarse voice, "Just dip a cotton swab in iodine and clean the wound."
He was in so much pain that his face turned pale, but he tried to remain calm.
Lin Weiwei bit her lip and sat down on the edge of the bed.
She unscrewed the iodine bottle, dipped a cotton swab in it, and then carefully approached his wound.
When the iodine touched the wound, Bai Si'an's body tensed up.
"Does it hurt?" Lin Weiwei stopped immediately.
"It doesn't hurt," Baisian said. "Continue."
Lin Weiwei took a deep breath and continued disinfecting.
She moved very gently, wiping the wound bit by bit with a cotton swab, cleaning away the blood and dirt.
The wound wasn't actually that big, but the surrounding skin was red and swollen, and it looked painful.
Lin Weiwei's eyes reddened again: "It's all my fault... If only I had handed the brick more steadily..."
"It's not your fault," Bai Si'an interrupted her. "The bricks weren't laid properly; it's my own problem."
"But……"
"No buts." Bai Si'an looked at her, his eyes behind his glasses appearing especially deep because of the pain. "Continue."
Lin Wei nodded slightly and continued disinfecting.
After cleaning the wound, she used gauze dipped in water to gently wipe away the surrounding bloodstains.
Bai Si'an's shirt had been cut open, exposing his entire right shoulder and chest.
As Lin Weiwei wiped the area, her gaze unconsciously fell on him.
She already knew that Bai Si'an had a good figure, but seeing him up close still made her heart race.
