The hustle and bustle of the Gremory mansion could not completely conceal the deep thoughts swirling within the underworld's higher echelons.
After Zhou Ye and his group were arranged to rest in the most luxurious guest rooms, a top-level meeting, attended only by four demon kings, was secretly held deep within Lucifer's demon king city.
There were no guards or servants in the huge circular conference room.
Only Sazex, Serafru, Achuka, and Farubium.
The atmosphere was completely different from the ecstasy I had felt at the research institute just hours earlier.
A heavy, solemn atmosphere, concerning the fate of the entire race, enveloped the place.
"All ten mothers conceived successfully. Their vital signs were stable, and the fetuses were developing at an astonishing rate."
Achuka Beelzebub pushed up his glasses; on the virtual screen in front of him, a dense stream of data was scrolling.
"Based on the existing data, the water of the Mother-Child River has no short-term side effects. It acts directly on the root of the laws of life, which can be described as a miracle."
He spoke of "miracles," but his tone was anything but relaxed; instead, it was filled with the rigor and awe that researchers feel when facing the unknown.
"Then what are we waiting for!" Seraph Leviathan slammed her hand on the table, causing her red twin tails to bounce.
"We should do it immediately! Right now! List it as our demons' highest-level strategic resource! Make sure all pure-blood families have access to it! I want to see the underworld teeming with adorable little demon babies!"
Her suggestion was driven by emotional impulse and represented the first reaction of most demons upon learning the truth.
"No."
Sazex spoke.
His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable decisiveness that seemed to lower the temperature in the conference room.
Seraph puffed out her cheeks in dissatisfaction: "Why not? Sirzechs-chan! This is the treasure that solves our biggest problem in thousands of years! You don't mean to let your Gremory family keep it all for yourself, do you?"
“Seraphru!” Sazex’s tone became more serious. “This is not the time for jokes.”
He stood up, walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window, and looked down at the territory that belonged to the Demon King.
"Let me ask you a question."
"If there were a drug that could instantly cure a person on the verge of death, but ten years later, everyone who used it would explode and die. Would you use it?"
This question instantly silenced the usually boisterous Seraphru.
Farubim Asmodeus, who had been lazily yawning, also opened his eyes, which was quite unusual.
“Sazex, you mean… this thing might have unknown long-term risks?” Farubium asked slowly.
“I’m not doubting my brother-in-law.” Sazex turned around, his expression extremely serious. “I believe he means no harm. In fact, he probably doesn’t even know what long-term effects this thing will have.”
"That's precisely why we need to be even more cautious."
He held out a finger.
"The continuation of a race is not a game. We are the rulers of the underworld, and beneath our feet lies the fate of billions of demons. We cannot afford to lose."
Achuka nodded and continued, "I agree with Sazex's point of view. From a scientific perspective, the application of any new technology must undergo long-term and comprehensive clinical observation. What we have now are only ten samples and less than a day's worth of short-term data."
"We don't know if these children will be born with physical defects."
"We don't know if their lifespans will be affected."
"We also don't know whether this kind of bloodline, when passed down to the second or third generation, will undergo malignant mutations or degeneration!"
Achuka's words were like a bucket of ice water, extinguishing the last vestige of Seraph's illusions.
She wasn't stupid; she just longed to see a prosperous future for her people.
"Then... what should we do?" she asked softly.
"Wait."
Sazex gave a single word.
"wait?"
“Yes, wait.” Sazex’s gaze swept over every demon lord present. “We need an observation period. Ten years, twenty years, even fifty years.”
"We want to witness these ten children being born, growing up, cultivating, and even... getting married and having children. We want to collect complete data on each stage to ensure that nothing goes wrong."
"During this period, the existence of the [Mother-Child River Water] must be classified as top secret. Apart from those who already know about it and a few researchers, no fifth person must be allowed to know!"
“But…” Seraphru was still somewhat unwilling, “Those pure-blooded nobles…they will find out sooner or later, and the pressure then…”
“I’ll take the pressure.” Sazex’s answer was firm and resolute.
"If anyone dares to ask for it, I'll just say one thing: no. If anyone dares to question it, I'll send him to keep company with the elders of those old noble families."
"This is the Demon King's responsibility, and it is also the responsibility that I, as his brother-in-law, must bear."
He looked at his silent colleagues and softened his tone.
"I believe that if Zhou Ye were in our position, he would make the same cautious decision."
"A man who can casually produce such a divine object—my brother-in-law's vision and shrewdness far surpass ours. He wouldn't want his allies to be a bunch of fools blinded by joy."
These words finally convinced everyone.
Farubim closed his eyes again and said lazily, "Then let's wait... Anyway, we demons have plenty of time... It's good to get some more sleep..."
Achuka has begun drafting a long-term observation plan called "Tinder" on a virtual screen.
Seraph also sighed and accepted this safest and most rational solution.
"Alright, alright, whatever you say, Sirzechs-chan. But over the next ten years, I'm going to prepare lots and lots of beautiful magical girl outfits for those little babies!"
The meeting reached a consensus.
A decision concerning the future fate of the demon race was made quietly.
Sazex breathed a sigh of relief, but the weight on his heart did not lessen at all.
He knew that this decision meant he would have to bear immense pressure and suspicion from the entire pure-blood aristocracy for decades to come.
But he has no regrets.
This is the weight that a king must bear.
He picked up the communicator, hesitated for a moment, and then connected to the Gilmore estate.
"Father."
"Sazex? What's up?" Duke Geotix's cheerful voice came from the other end of the communicator.
"Regarding the [Mother-Child River Water], I need you and Mother, so please do not use it for the time being."
"Why?!" Geotix's voice rose instantly.
Sazex didn't explain much, but simply repeated it in an unquestionable tone.
“Father, the things my brother-in-law gave me are all genuine and of good quality, but they still need to be observed and tested over a period of time.”
"Wait ten years."
"Ten years from now, if all goes well, I will personally deliver the items to you."
After saying that, he hung up the call, giving his father no chance to ask any further questions.
He leaned back on the cold throne and rubbed his temples.
Being careful and cautious is never a bad thing.
Chapter 251 Mother-in-law Urges Childbirth
Inside the magnificent study of the Guimony mansion.
Duke Geotix hung up the communicator, and the warm smile on his face, which had not yet completely faded, quickly froze, finally turning into a grimace.
"boom!"
He slammed his fist on the mahogany table beside him, and the expensive magic crystal ornament jumped up, crashed to the ground, and shattered into dust.
"You bastard!" Geoticus trembled with rage. "How dare he order me around?!"
"Wait ten years?!"
"Does he know what these past ten years have meant for our Gremory family, for the entire pure-blood faction?"
Vinilana, who had been sitting elegantly on the sofa, now had a frosty expression on her face.
She didn't lose her composure like her husband, but the raging anger surging in her beautiful violet eyes was more terrifying than Geotix's roar.
“Sazex… what is he doing?” Vinilana’s voice was soft, but chillingly cold. “Does he think that just because he’s the Demon King now, he can disregard the future of his family?”
"What kind of bullshit periodic observation is this! What kind of damned experiment is this!" Geotix paced back and forth in the study like a trapped lion. "What my son-in-law brought out could be wrong? What a joke! He's questioning my son-in-law's abilities, he's disrespecting the greatest benefactor of the Gremory family!"
Vinilana slowly stood up.
She walked to the window and looked out at the brightly lit courtyard.
"No, you are wrong, Geoticus."
Her voice regained its usual calmness, but beneath that calmness lay a deeper level of calculation.
“Sazex wasn’t questioning Ye Jun; he was filled with fear.”
"Fear of this power, fear of this miracle that can easily overturn the very foundation of a demon. As the Demon King, his first consideration is stability, not development. He fears losing control."
Geotix stopped in his tracks, stunned: "You mean..."
“From a demon king’s perspective, his choice wasn’t wrong. Being cautious is never a bad thing.” Vinilana turned around, a cold smile curving her lips.
"But he forgot that he was not only the Demon King, but also a member of the Gremory family."
“He can wait ten or fifty years, but the Gremory family can’t!”
"Rias, we can't wait any longer!"
Every word Vinilana uttered was like a nail, striking Geotix's heart hard.
Yes.
Rias couldn't wait.
Zhou Ye has too many women around him, and none of them are kind-hearted.
ten years?
