Zhou Ye looked at Jill, his expression calm.
"What do you want to know?"
Jill composed herself and looked directly at Zhou Ye.
"Who exactly are you people? Why are you here? And what is your purpose?"
"And also, your... special abilities."
Zhou Ye shrugged.
“My name is Zhou Ye. As you can see, I’m a superpowered individual who knows a little bit about spatial manipulation.” He pointed to himself and then to Nami.
"She is Nami, a magician who is skilled at using gems to cast spells."
Then he tilted his head in Saeko Busujima's direction.
"As for Busujima, don't you already know her identity? She's a candidate for Water Pillar in the Demon Slayer Corps."
"You've seen her sword."
Spatial ability?
Magician?
Demon Slayer Squad?
These words challenged Jill's preconceived notions.
She's been a police officer for so many years and has handled the most bizarre cases. Now, suddenly, magic and the Demon Slayer Corps appear?
How could she believe that? But the facts were right in front of her.
Zhou Ye conjured weapons out of thin air, Nami laid traps with gems, and Saeko Busujima's swordsmanship was beyond comprehension.
And that line of text that appeared out of nowhere just now...
Jill fell silent.
She looked down at the RPG launcher in her hand, still warm from the lingering smoke.
This thing was also "conjured" by Zhou Ye.
Perhaps, this world is far more complex and crazy than she imagined.
Accepting reality is the first step to survival.
"The Demon Slayer Corps... is it to kill 'demons'?" Jill looked up and asked another crucial question.
"Yes." This time, it was Saeko Busujima who answered, her voice cool and composed, carrying a sense of matter-of-fact calm.
"That thing that wears a kimono, is impervious to bullets, afraid of sunlight, and is called 'Tired,' just like the plant ghost we just destroyed?"
Jill pressed for an answer.
“Yes.” Saeko nodded.
"A cannibal is a demon."
Jill felt that her worldview was being shattered and rebuilt little by little.
This mansion has become a veritable party for all sorts of monsters and scoundrels.
She took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled.
That's it.
There's no point in worrying about these things now.
Surviving, finding the truth, and leaving this place are the most important things.
“Okay.” Jill nodded, accepting the absurd premise.
"So, what do we do now?"
She looked at Zhou Ye, unconsciously regarding him as her pillar of support.
Zhou Ye glanced at the mess in the restaurant and then at the Remington M870 shotgun in the corner.
"Let's find a place to rest and replenish our fluids and energy."
"Then, go find your teammate Barry?"
Zhou Ye's tone was questioning.
Jill hesitated for a moment.
Barry's call just now was indeed a bit strange.
But he has been my partner for many years and I can trust him.
"Yes, we need to find him."
Jill affirmed.
"Perhaps he has more clues about leaving here."
Zhou Ye neither confirmed nor denied the statement.
"We'll use this to leave here and find a place to rest first."
Suddenly, a blue cartoon cat-head-shaped [heat source detector] appeared in Zhou Ye's hand.
Jill pointed and asked:
"what is this?"
"The heat source detector should be able to detect the number of ghosts or zombies, so it should be useful."
"Why didn't you bring out something this good from the beginning?"
Jill's tone was tinged with dissatisfaction.
"I only just thought of it now, and I don't even know if it will work. Are you sure zombies and ghosts have heat sources?"
Zhou Ye shrugged indifferently. He couldn't very well say that he had just remembered this and used the abilities of Herrscher of Reason and Talking Tom to create it, could he?
Jill fell silent. She wasn't sure if zombies had a thermodynamic response, let alone ghosts.
Nami crossed her arms and glanced sideways at the [Heat Source Detector] in Zhou Ye's hand.
"Captain, where did you get all these weird things from?"
"I made it with all my might."
Zhou Ye said without turning his head, fiddling with the instrument in his hand.
Nami was still worried, so she went to Zhou Ye's side and used magic to project a secret message onto his body, asking:
"By the way, are you sure this thing is reliable?"
"What if the detector finds some weird stuff and leads us into a ditch?"
Zhou Ye replied confidently:
"Rest assured, anything produced by Zhou Ye is guaranteed to be of high quality."
As he spoke, he turned on the [Heat Source Detector].
The screen lit up, displaying a simple map and several flashing red dots.
"Hmm? It actually reacted."
Zhou Ye was somewhat surprised.
"Looks like this thing works on zombies too."
"Where is the ghost?"
Jill asked, her tone tinged with anticipation.
"I don't know, we'll find out if we try."
As Zhou Ye spoke, he raised the [Heat Source Detector] and began scanning around the restaurant.
The red dot on the screen changed as he moved, but there was no particular reaction.
"It seems this thing is useless against ghosts."
Zhou Ye said with some disappointment.
"I knew it! How could something so convenient exist?"
Nami pouted.
"However, being able to detect zombies is enough; it's better than being completely in the dark."
Zhou Ye put away the [Heat Source Detector] and looked at Jill.
"Let's go, let's get out of here first."
Jill asked, "Where to?"
Zhou Ye looked at the three women, who appeared exhausted, and said:
"Let's take a break. We just went through a battle and need to organize our equipment, replenish our food and water. We're not NPCs in a game who don't know fatigue."
Jill nodded.
"Okay, I'll lead the way. I at least know some places to rest on the first floor."
Chapter 15 Wesker, the ghost is tired
She walked to the front and pushed open the door on the other side of the restaurant.
Outside the door was a dimly lit corridor, filled with a stench of decay.
"Be careful, there might be zombies ahead."
Jill reminded him.
