In the center of the hall, a middle-aged man in a navy robe sat upright on his black throne.
When Emma entered, the Black Emperor Sebastian Shaw coldly scrutinized her.
Standing beside the Black Emperor was his most powerful man, a man in a red suit.
“Emma!” Black Emperor smiled reluctantly.
Black Emperor looked much younger than anyone expected; he was probably only around 40 years old. He had short, light flaxen hair, clean-cut, angular facial features, and a cold gaze.
He was the Black Emperor, always carrying an arrogant and condescending expression.
He saw the White Queen arrive. He immediately rose from his throne and invited her to meet him in the drawing room. The huge reception area in the hall was a recessed circular space with a diameter of nearly 10 meters, furnished with red leather sofas.
"If the Red Devil is right... Emma, the person who came with you outside is the Purifier, right?"
“Yes, he is. Mr. Sebastian.” Emma wasted no time, went inside, and sat down in a chair.
"He defeated Loki and Lord Manab. Yes, Asazelle. The Red Devil wouldn't lie to me."
Standing with his back against the wall, the Red Devil Asazel stepped forward.
“One of the Avengers, the Purifier, Xu Fu. We all know that. Their battle at Imperial College in New York may not be known to the public, but we all know what happened there.” Red Devil’s tone was sharp. “Of all the Avengers, except for this god, we know them all inside and out.”
Red Devil is one of the most powerful mutants in the world, capable of moving through space indefinitely. For Red Devil, there is no place on Earth he cannot reach.
Black Emperor leaned forward. "Emma, is he your boyfriend?"
Emma, sitting ramrod straight, wasn't in the mood for jokes; she shook her head.
"I thought you two were a couple," Black Emperor grinned.
Emma looked away and stared intently at the details of the entire hall.
"You designed this hall, the sofas, bookshelves, and armchairs," Black Emperor laughed.
Emma stroked the red sofa beside her, trying hard to remember: "Mr. Sebastian, how many years have I been here?"
A flicker of melancholy crossed the Black Emperor's eyes as he turned and left. "Have you forgotten, Emma?"
She was very honest: "I've completely forgotten about it."
The Black Emperor seemed to be calling her name very sincerely, but Emma remained unmoved.
"Rest will erase your memory," Black Emperor said in a low voice. "Just like Charles did a decade or so ago. He tried to erase my memory too, but it gradually returned."
"When you were 12, you ran away from that horrible orphanage. I was the one who protected you, Emma. From the age of 12, I sent you to a prestigious school in the suburbs of Los Angeles, while teaching you your abilities. Until you were 18, you officially joined the Hellfire Club and became a member of the Solomon Warriors."
"...However, just two years ago, in an accident, you were taken away by the Viper Lady, who saw your abilities. Now you have managed to return to my side, but you remember nothing."
Emma was a little doubtful. Was everything the Black Emperor said true?
“My White Queen, from now on you will rest here with me. Your telepathic abilities are very strong, and I believe you will gradually return to a normal life.”
The Black Emperor looked at the White Queen with pity, as if she were his daughter. Just as Xu Fu had predicted, the Black Emperor was undoubtedly the White Queen's creator.
But the strange expression on Black Emperor's face, his excessive pretense, made Emma vaguely feel that something was wrong. As a superior, he seemed too weak.
If the Black Emperor trained me, why didn't he rescue me from the reunion? Even the leaders of the Restoration Society wouldn't act with such mercy.
“Emma, I’m so glad you’re back,” Sebastian said. “Stay here. This is your home.”
Emma's eyes were somber, and she did not respond to Black Emperor's suggestion. "I want to see where I used to live first."
“No problem, Azel, take her inside.”
Red Devil walked up to Emma and grabbed her hand!
The two vanished from the spot, leaving behind trails of red smoke...
The Red Devil's displacement ability is very similar to the Blue Devil's, but much stronger, with more stable and direct spatial movement.
In the blink of an eye, Emma was back in her boudoir at the Hellfire Club.
An empty bedroom.
White walls and floor tiles. A white grand piano, cream-colored figurines, and white pictures on the wall. It's predominantly white, almost oppressively so.
This room is the White Queen's boudoir, where she lived for several years as part of the Hellfire Club.
Endless memories flooded the White Queen's mind, and she gradually began to see the details of her hazy recollections!
“There’s something I must tell you, Miss Frost.”
Emma turned around and looked at the red demon behind her. This red-skinned Asazle seemed completely out of place in the room.
"If I don't tell you, it will be hard for me to hold back."
Red Devil sat on the chair by the bed.
“Actually, the Black Emperor is hiding something,” the Red Devil said sarcastically. “Except for you, all of Solomon’s members are dead.”
"What do you mean?"
"Two years ago, you were the vice-captain of Solomon's Squad, Sebastian. Shaw led you and your troops to Vison Island."
"Vicks Island, isn't that an island in the Caribbean?"
"That's right, the island he built, the future paradise for mutants."
“Solomon’s squad…” Emma murmured to herself.
“However, Melo’s Club set a trap on the island. Lady Viper surrounded Black Emperor and your squad,” Red Devil said coldly. “At that time, Black Emperor had just gone through a fierce battle with Magneto and was completely powerless to fight against Melo’s Club. He used Solomon’s squad to create chaos and took advantage of the chaos to leave the island alone by helicopter.”
Emma continued, "So, all the members of Solomon's squad are dead, and I'm the only one alive."
Red Devil. "Uh, yes..."
“...Asazelle. I remember everything, actually.” Emma Frost replied simply, “Nothing. It was the only way he could survive. Those dead members of Solomon’s squad were just scum.”
Red Devil said quite seriously, "That's why Sebastian Shaw doesn't come looking for you. He may be more powerful than Magneto, Professor X, or Serpent, but the Hellfire Club is too weak."
Emma Frost smiled and said, "What I did in the past was no different from what the Entertainment Association did. It was nothing more than profiting for the Black Emperor, creating chaos and profiting from it."
“I don’t want to serve the Black Emperor anymore, and I won’t go back.” She placed the photo on the table and put the two white dolls into her bag.
Chapter 243 A New Life in Los Angeles (Part 1)
Xu Fu was stunned when Emma put her hands on herself and rushed out of the Hellfire Club...
It was already late at night, at 11 p.m.
Fifth Avenue in Los Angeles was shrouded in darkness. The dim streetlights were powerless to dispel the night overhead.
Rumble...
Two sports cars roared past us, their engines roaring in an instant. After a turn, the two luxury cars disappeared into thin air.
Emma remained silent, carrying her suitcase in one hand, and led Xu Fu toward the intersection of Fifth Avenue and the sidewalk.
The crossroads were equally cold and deathly quiet. The White Queen opened her cloak in the cold wind, her white shirt and long golden hair fluttering in the chill.
"Roy, I have nowhere else to go."
"What's wrong? Why aren't you staying at the club?"
“This probably makes no sense,” Emma replied. “I don’t want to work for these people.”
“There aren’t many people left in the Hellfire Club. Except for Azel, all those friends are dead.” Emma was ashamed, her finger tracing circles on the floor. “Now I don’t even know—where to go.”
"I'll take you to the hotel..." Xu Fu said rather coldly, but earnestly.
"And what about you? You arrived in Los Angeles but had nowhere to stay?" Emma asked.
Xu Fu: "I have an apartment in Gower_street."
Located on Golf Street, just steps away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Xu Fu rented this apartment to make his next steps in Los Angeles easier.
"This apartment should be fine for two people, right?"
Emma's words sent a chill down Xu Fu's spine...
Miss, you don't want to live with me, do you?
"Emma, I'll rent you a five-star hotel..."
“You don’t need to spend that money tonight, or I’ll stay at your place.”
Xu Fu was somewhat puzzled, "I've already gone to the Hellfire Club with you, are you still going to try and take advantage of me?"
“Hey, shit…” Emma burst out, “It’s so late, who cares if I spend the night in your apartment? Doesn’t Mr. Yong’s rented room have two beds?”
Maybe I'm just too embarrassed? Sigh, now that I'm handsome, I'm still just as silly. No wonder I've been single for over 20 years before this.
“Alright, we’re getting ready to take a taxi. I’m still waiting for you to tell me where the Butterfly Fairy is,” Xu Fuxing replied enthusiastically, which elicited a similarly satisfied smile from Emma.
Finally, after waiting for a taxi, the two arrived at an apartment building on Gower Street.
Xu Fu's rental apartment is on the last 20 floors. In addition to a glass balcony with a wide view, it has a staggered two-story structure. Three bedrooms, a living room, and a large balcony are on three steps above the foyer, while the kitchen, bathroom, and foyer are on the ground floor below.
As for the apartment building's decor and furniture, there's not much to say. Keep in mind, renting this place costs $2000 a month.
"Such a big house? And it's beautifully decorated!" Emma glanced around the house. "Let me stay for free for a while, and when I make money, it will definitely be worth more than the rent."
Excuse me? Are you still planning to live in my apartment indefinitely?
"Didn't you say you were only staying one night? Why are you staying so late?"
