He couldn't penetrate the N-metal defenses, but this armor was by no means a solid block. Its structure and joints certainly had weaknesses, and whatever those small flaws might be the deciding factor in the outcome of the battle.
He scanned his opponent meticulously with his eyes, searching for the slightest weakness or flaw. He then noticed a special reinforcement device on the left belt of his suit, but couldn't find it; perhaps something was hidden in a lining. However, in the heat of battle, the armor's joints had broken, most likely due to a surge of energy. He hadn't noticed the Omega Effect, once belonging to the Dark Lord, explode.
Perhaps this is the power source of the Wing Knight mechs. In that case, this small (no-good) gap, like a tiny anthill on a vast dam, will determine the outcome.
Xu Fu leaped upwards, his right hand flashing like lightning, heading straight for his opponent's body. His movements were too fast; his opponent had no time to react. His steel fingers plunged into the cracked hole, tearing it open with brute force, grabbing the vital components inside with his bare hands, and crushing them into fragments and discarded circuit boards.
“It’s over,” Xu Fu said, pulling a tangled mess of wires from a gap in the armor. “You’ve lost!”
The next turn of events was also unexpected for Roy; clearly, it wasn't part of his plan. He lowered his voice and said in a deep voice, "You have no idea what you just did. You smashed my mother box, activated the switch, which means..."
Before they could finish speaking, the space above them suddenly exploded. Golden void spun, emitting a thunderous roar. An unparalleled gravitational force emanated from it, pulling them in without warning.
"...We will be pulled into another space."
This was the second half of his sentence, but by the time he finished speaking, they had already been sucked into the spatial teleportation portal. The portal slammed shut, leaving no trace, as if nothing had ever happened.
Chapter 1807 Space Shuttle
Xu Fu had never experienced time travel before. Only today did he begin to fantasize about this unique form of travel, having only learned about it from movies, television programs, and theoretical books. But as people often say, the ideal is often far from reality.
This feeling is different from that of the protagonist in the movie, who beautifully plunges down the colorful tunnel and gracefully leaps out of the spatial rift. The unstoppable roller coaster accelerates with a sense of despair, carrying desperate passengers forward again and again at an ever-increasing speed on the inverted track, its centrifugal force seemingly about to rip your stomach out of your throat.
Even the toughest man wouldn't want to go through that again. The whole process took only three to five seconds, but Xu Fu felt as if he had been wandering in a chaotic tunnel for a hundred years. When he was finally violently spat out of the exit and landed heavily on the ground, he realized he had never missed the cold earth so much.
Although this was clearly not land he was familiar with.
The winged knight landed not far from him, and it took him some time to recover: clearly, the journey had not been memorable for him.
But during this unpleasant journey, the desires fueled by the Omega effect finally subsided. Xu Fu glanced at the Winged Rider standing beside him and said somewhat nervously, "Is yours... really the Mother Box? I've never heard 093 mention a time-travel game played with a Mother Box... so... unforgettable..."
“If you don’t start by smashing it… that usually won’t happen,” Roy replied, humming a tune.
It sounds like you're accusing me of being wrong.
That's more like it.
"Do I need to remind you? We just had a fierce battle, and you started it first." Xu Fu raised an eyebrow: "Speaking of which... should we continue fighting?"
“I think we can put this on hold for now,” Roy paused, looking around, “and then we’ll talk about it once we have a better understanding of the situation.”
Only then did they begin to seriously assess their surroundings. They were in a dark metropolis, surrounded by various Gothic buildings. If only their outlines were visible, these buildings might appear grotesque and terrifying, like gargoyles hidden under a pomegranate skirt. But the bright light unveiled their mysterious veil, clearly outlining all their lines and contours, like a lion with its fangs and claws removed, making it impossible for them to frighten anyone.
The streets were quiet, devoid of pedestrians and vehicles. Shops along the street were closed, while lights remained on in the distant residential areas. The clock on the tower overlooking the complex hadn't yet struck nine. For any city, turning off the lights and going to bed is far too early.
Xu Fu looked around and subconsciously said, "Is it just my imagination, or does this place really look a bit like...?"
“...Gotham City,” Roy interjected quietly, his tone unusually serious.
This city certainly looks a lot like Gotham, from the architectural style to the layout and construction of the streets... There's just one problem with Gotham: it's too bright. Not only the streetlights, but also the neon lights, electronic scoreboards, and brightly colored decorations hanging high above the city seem out of place, illuminating every corner of Gotham, even the darkest and gloomiest places.
A gloomy wind blew from a deep alleyway on one side of the main road, sweeping across the empty streets with a dull groan that sent chills down my spine.
Xu Fu had considered flying into the sky to better observe the city, but a strange sound in the darkness made him change his mind. Rustling footsteps came from all directions, and a large group of soldiers in black combat uniforms silently approached them. Each of them held a high-tech laser rifle, countless red laser beams densely striking Xu Fu. The aircraft, accompanied by the faint sound of its engines, drew closer, skipping over buildings, descending, and surrounding him.
"Ten-person cabin!" a guy who looked like the leader shouted into the microphone on his combat suit. "You've violated curfew. Put your hands where we can see you!"
Curfew? Does such a thing really exist? Xu Fu raised an eyebrow in disbelief. And this was merely a violation of curfew, yet a group of fully armed soldiers and a swarm of drones immediately flew in to provide support... It was as if a particularly dangerous supervillain had escaped his cage.
Wait, why are these guys only pointing guns at me? Xu Fu felt that compared to the guy standing behind him, dressed in all black with a red bat hanging around his neck, looking like a demon incarnate, he should look more human and harmless (BBFI). However, when he subconsciously turned around, he was surprised to find... oh, I'm all alone here.
The winged rider that was behind him just seconds ago had vanished... Xu Fu couldn't help but wonder if this ability to disappear suddenly was a superpower. The guy had quietly slipped a step or two behind him, without him or his super senses noticing at all.
He heard a soldier on the other side of the street whisper, "Sir, I think this guy looks like..."
"Impossible!" He was interrupted before he could finish speaking: "He should be in a meeting at the White House right now, and he hasn't worn a uniform in this color scheme in a long time. This is just a well-dressed imposter, nothing to be afraid of."
Xu Fu looked down at his uniform and couldn't help but ask, "Are you talking about me?"
The soldiers were closing in on him, the encirclement rapidly tightening. Xu Fu was certain he could wipe them all out before any of them pulled the trigger, but he wasn't in a hurry. He didn't know where he was or what the situation was, so at first he simply waited and observed quietly.
However, others did not take action but instead struck first.
A dark shadow, like a large, black bird, descended from the sky and landed abruptly in the center of the soldiers' formation. Almost at the same moment the shadow landed, two soldiers in the formation fell to the ground one after the other.
"Enemy attack!"
Someone shouted, and chaos erupted in the square. Soldiers in black combat uniforms drew their weapons and engaged the shadowy group in hand-to-hand combat. However, their close-quarters combat was utterly pathetic: the shadowy figure who charged into the crowd was like a powerful figure in an online game, returning to destroy an entire newbie village; no one was his enemy. He swept through the crowd like a combine harvester, and soldiers fell to the ground one by one like ears of wheat.
Xu Fu recognized him immediately. Wasn't this the winged knight who had mysteriously disappeared from behind him just moments before? This guy had somehow managed to quietly climb up the high ground, spread his wings, and leap into the crowd, where he began to leisurely cut grass.
The drones that initially spotted Xu Fu turned their guns and aimed at the winged knights moving at high speed through the crowd. They extended their barrels, and a bright, blinding light—a high-concentration energy calling for action—originated and condensed at their muzzles.
Xu Fu only thought for half a second before deciding that he should help him out. He stood motionless with his arms crossed, his thermal vision sweeping across his body like a laser sword. Every drone hovering in the air was powered off, turning into a burst of fireworks that illuminated the night sky.
Half a minute later, a group of soldiers also fell at the feet of the winged knights. Xu Fu frowned, hugging himself: "What kind of gang is this?"
“Government personnel,” Roy replied coldly, striding quickly to a nearby manhole cover and lifting it open with his hand. “Go down.”
"what?"
“I suggest we go down to the bottom of the well,” Roy said softly, looking at him. “Unless you want to stay here and wait for the next group to come looking for you.”
Xu Fu frowned, hesitant. The boy used the word "we" so naturally, seemingly acknowledging that they were all in cahoots, even though they had been fighting each other not long ago.
But after hesitating for a moment, he followed Roy and jumped into the sewer well.
He still had many questions about this winged rider.
Chapter 1808 An Unfamiliar Earth
A sewer
If this truly is Gotham City from a parallel universe, then by Gotham City's standards, this Gotham City is incredibly strange. Unlike the Gotham sewers Xu Fu remembered, the sewers here have neither a foul odor nor the relatively unsightly drainage system required for the Gotham subway. Two rows of incandescent bulbs are neatly arranged on the pipe walls, their white light making every line on the walls clearly visible, leaving no darkness behind.
Two figures, one in black and one in blue, moved swiftly through the sewer pipes. Their movements were as light as cats, as if they were floating in the air, making no sound. The vast drain was completely silent, save for the "drip-drip" sound of water droplets falling into the pipes from above, echoing endlessly.
After walking for a while, Xu Fu finally couldn't help but break the silence: "Where are we going?"
“Let’s leave the densely populated area first, avoid surveillance, and then find a place to rest.” Roy replied without turning his head, “We must be on Earth in some parallel universe right now. After you broke my Mother Box, we can’t leave here, so we have to find a place to land and prepare for a long stay until we find a plan to escape this world.”
“You used the word ‘we’,” Xu Fu reminded him. “But before that, you attacked us for over a week, trying to crush us all.”
“I don’t want to destroy anyone. The only reason I went to your world is you. You were affected by the Omega Effect after the Dark Lord’s death. You’re like an unstable time bomb, and I have to decide whether to defuse it before it gets out of control.”
"Huh? I'm not the kind of time bomb you can just defuse. Who gave you this..." Xu Fu said almost subconsciously, then suddenly stopped, his tone changing: "Wait, you just said the Dark King is...? Omega?"
Roy glanced back at him: "You seem to know what that is, so I don't have to explain it to you again."
"Are you kidding me? I need you to explain a lot of things!" Xu Fu exclaimed. "What do you mean by saying Omega is in my body?"
“That’s it,” Roy continued. “Six years ago, the Dark Lord, the Dark King, invaded almost every kingdom in one fell swoop. But my companions and I defeated him, killing this nearly invincible new god… But his power was released from his torn body, surging into the universe and even causing turmoil in reality. Afterward, the energy vanished. We’ve been trying to track this energy ever since, but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. It could exist in any of the countless parallel universes, and finding it before a host actively unleashes their power is virtually impossible.”
He paused, then glanced at Xu Fu. "It wasn't until you lost control of your emotions during the battle and activated the power of Omega that I was drawn into your world."
Xu Fu subconsciously stopped in mid-air and stood quietly for a while, because he could only catch up again after the winged rider had descended more than ten steps.
"Wait, you mean... my periodic loss of control and bursts of power are all because of Omega?"
“A part,” Roy said. “By my standards, what you have is only a part of Omega. Where the rest is, I haven’t found yet… But that’s dangerous enough. The Omega effect is one of the most dangerous weapons in the multiverse, and I have to handle it very carefully. I hope you understand.”
"Do you know what?" Xu Fu couldn't contain his anger at the thought of being played by this guy for a week. "If that's really the case, you should come to me. Why did you bring people who have nothing to do with this?"
“I’m sorry your friends were injured, but it was necessary,” Roy said calmly. “They wouldn’t have stood idly by when I took action against you if they hadn’t dealt with them first. Also, I wanted you to watch your friends fall one by one, to put you under constant pressure, to prepare for your recent Omega outburst, and also to test your stress tolerance. By the way, I was the one who attacked Waller’s factory to make you aware of the Superman Reserve, because I wanted to see how you would handle it… Frankly, things got out of control after that, but your own immature reaction was partly to blame.”
He paused, his voice suddenly dropping a few decibels: "Besides, there's no connection between them. If one day you lose control because of Omega's influence, your superheroes on Earth will be the first line of defense against you. I'm doing this not only to test you but also to test them. All of you heroes have potential, but most of them are too young and still need to grow."
Xu Fu stopped and hovered in the air, not continuing forward.
Perhaps the winged knight was telling the truth, perhaps he really wasn't a bad person, and perhaps in some world he might even appear to be a remarkable superhero.
but...
“Perhaps you think you’re right…perhaps there’s a reason for it,” Xu Fu said, frowning. “But I still can’t trust you, no…to be honest, after what you’ve done, I’ve started to hate you a little.”
Roy stopped and turned to me, saying softly, "Of course, you have the right to think that way, and I can't prove I'm trustworthy. But we're on the same planet now, and cooperation is the wisest choice to find our way back."
“Thank you for your kindness, but I can’t work with someone who needs to be constantly monitored,” Xu Fusheng replied curtly, turning and flying in the opposite direction. “I’d rather take the risk myself.”
White House.
Unlike other parallel universes, the atmosphere and setting of this meeting were quite strange. The president and other political figures sat around a conference table, with the head seat given to a Kryptonian who probably shouldn't have been there in the first place.
· ·Requesting flowers····· ·······
Superman sat at the table, his chin resting on his hands, listening silently to the proceedings. Though he stood there like a statue, he largely dominated the atmosphere of the meeting, creating an eerie atmosphere. Each speaker, upon rising, would involuntarily cast a wary glance at the silent Kryptonian, and before speaking, they would unconsciously stammer, as if afraid of disturbing a sleeping lion.
Unlike other superhero stories, this one abandons the classic red and blue color scheme of the uniform, opting instead for black and white. He chose a white cape and a black uniform, and replaced the letter "S" on his chest with white lettering on a red background; it's unclear what the significance of this is.
The conference room door was suddenly pushed open, and a short-haired Amazon warrior in sexy armor rushed into the room like a whirlwind. She was so brave that the instant she entered the room, a sharp steel blade pierced her body, causing the councilors to involuntarily shut their mouths during their speeches.
0 ...... ...
Superman frowned: "Diana?"
“Karl.” The female warrior from Paradise Island, the superhero known as Wonder Woman, said with a serious expression, “This is important.”
Excuse me for a moment.
The moment he finished speaking, Superman vanished from the edge of the chair, flying out of the conference room like a white and black whirlwind, and taking the door with him. The instant he disappeared, everyone in the conference room breathed a sigh of relief, their tense nerves finally getting a brief respite.
"I have a meeting to attend." Superman asked, "What is it?"
“This is Gotham City, street surveillance footage and the Sheriff’s Department.” Diana stretched out her hand, and a small cube-shaped device in her palm projected video images into the air. The holographic image quickly displayed scenes of Gotham City, with a crack appearing in space, from which blue-black figures fell one by one onto the street.
