Chapter 220 Steppenwolf: Right, right, you're not Batman.
"Batman is a cunning scumbag." Wild Wolf had just come out of the blast tunnel when he heard Mechanical Superman say this.
"Is there no need to film battle stories anymore?"
He first asked the other person in a low voice, "Are there any people around you you need to deceive?"
After receiving an affirmative answer, he turned his attention to the white fog that surrounded him.
It was quiet all around; there wasn't a sound of people, or even birds chirping.
It felt like being in space.
"He was so rotten that his feet were oozing pus and his head was covered in sores; he was so vicious that he was almost inhuman. But even so, he was a master tactician, a master of deception, a brilliant liar, a narcissist with a perverse sense of humor, a schemer who adapted to the circumstances, a cunning and resourceful manipulator, and a genius in the criminal world."
"So what is this long string of words trying to say?"
Steppenwolf was getting a headache from the other party's string of rapid-fire titles. He had just arrived and had originally planned to discuss the details of the subsequent plan with the other party, but after being interrupted by the other party, he immediately lost interest.
He asked directly:
"And what's with this fog? You said you'd let me help you get Supergirl back, but she's clearly already in your hands."
His gaze lingered on the supergirl beside the mechanical superhero:
Although there were no signs of beating on the other person, their pale green face, which looked as if their soul had left their body and ascended to heaven, confirmed their identity.
"Batman is not to be underestimated; he created this fog to obstruct my vision."
Steppenwolf heard the mechanical superman say that he saw white light flash in the other's eyes and then quickly go out, which should be the other activating his X-ray vision.
"This fog is lead-based; my X-ray vision is useless. Batman was prepared, as expected..."
"So what do we say now?"
The wolf interrupted him impatiently. He neither understood nor trusted this "imperial envoy" before him. If it were Darkseid's right-hand man, the scientist and strategist Disas, who was here, he would never have acted this way.
Even so, due to Darkseid's orders, he still maintained sufficient respect for the other party. Despite the other party's nonsense, he remained humble, at most speaking a little more presumptuously.
Steppenwolf.
Then he heard the other person's voice deepen by eight octaves:
"We are facing a cunning and vicious monster, a thoroughly evil creature. I am warning you of the danger of the enemy we face, and I advise you not to ignore my warning."
Steppenwolf heard the other party say solemnly:
"Only by being fully prepared mentally can you avoid being fooled. Batman's deceptions can happen anytime, anywhere, unexpectedly. If we mess this up..."
Steppenwolf suddenly realized that he was still a criminal and had no chance of failure. He quickly lowered his head:
"I'm sorry, sir."
"Um."
The other party gave a haughty "hmm," then continued, "The female Kryptonian is extremely important to us. I must personally escort her away to ensure her safety. I require you to come with me out of this fog and, outside the fog, intercept any potential swarms of Batman and his possible allies. If possible..."
"Kill him, for Darkseid!"
"That's right, be as quick as possible, preferably a surprise attack, don't give the opponent time to react."
"OK."
Even though he believed he understood the battlefield and combat better than his opponent, Steppenwolf didn't argue back. Instead, he quietly agreed, "Yes, sir."
"When the other person sees you, they are very likely to use words to interfere with your actions, such as claiming that they are you and that they have been transformed into the way they are now by some method—"
Steppenwolf immediately answered:
"These baseless words are all meant to distract me. If I hesitate even for a moment and become distracted in the battle, he can use that moment of hesitation to launch a counterattack."
Steppenwolf even felt a slight sense of indignation at being insulted. The other party was treating him like a baby, even teaching him the basic principle of not being misled by the enemy's rhetoric in battle, like teaching a child step by step. It was utterly ridiculous!
He had traversed countless galaxies and encountered countless enemies unlike any he had ever seen before—heroic, cunning, and intelligent—all of whom ultimately perished under his axe.
His combat and confrontation experience was already incredibly rich, so he didn't need this guy in front of him to lecture him.
But he wasn't foolish enough to interrupt the other person again. Anyway, this time the other person was in charge, so he let him say whatever he wanted.
Steppenwolf forcibly suppressed his irritation and displeasure, preventing it from showing on his face.
But before the other person could finish speaking, he quickly added:
"Such standard language can't fool me, but I can pretend to be fooled by him, and then, when he thinks I've been deceived and relaxes, I can approach him and launch a sneak attack, which will severely injure him in one fell swoop."
Then he gritted his teeth and said, "Then I won't give him another chance to talk nonsense. I'll just chop him to death with the axe, one blow at a time. He won't have a chance to say another word until he breathes his last."
"Um……"
He heard the other person hesitate for a moment, as if they hadn't expected him to propose such a highly feasible plan as [pretending to be tricked into getting close before suddenly striking ruthlessly], and then they said:
"Hmm, this plan is excellent, well done, Steppenwolf."
Do you even need to tell me?
Steppenwolf grew increasingly impatient. The other man was rambling on and on, and his instructions made him seem like a new recruit. If it weren't for the fact that he was a convict and didn't have the right to speak, he would have slapped him long ago.
Such an idiot might be good at fighting, but what's the use?
"I already know the plan, sir, so let me escort you out. I'll hold off Batman for you." He took a deep breath, and then noticed a large pile of Kryptonite weapons behind the other man.
He said, "So let's get out of this area that Batman shrouded in mist first, and I'll help you carry these boxes."
He could have had the Parademons move it, but to show his loyalty and subservience, he chose to do it himself.
And so, "Mechanical Superman" dragged the unconscious Supergirl, with Steppenwolf following behind to help carry their luggage, and swaggered away from the mist.
……
……
……
The first thing the robotic superhero did was destroy all the surrounding security cameras. These cameras were originally installed by him to broadcast the situation to the government, but now they were his most deadly enemies.
He immediately realized Batman's sinister intentions.
Even though they spent very little time together, he realized just how incredibly stupid Steppenwolf was—if he weren't a fool, he wouldn't have made such a terrible mistake and been rejected by the king of Apokolips.
Batman altered his physical appearance using unknown methods, and the mechanical superman was fully aware of what the other was trying to do.
If he wants to clear up the misunderstanding, he will have to reveal his true identity to Steppenwolf. If the government discovers this, all his previous preparations will be in vain, the plan will fail completely, and he will have no choice but to take a direct approach, which would have no value or meaning in infiltrating the area.
He opened his mouth, as if to shout something, but no sound came out.
Damn it, he knew Batman wouldn't leave him any loopholes.
So he ran wildly, and with lightning speed, he quickly escaped the area shrouded in smoke, and suddenly the view opened up before him.
Then he discovered that Steppenwolf and a huge swarm of Apokolips Parademons were quietly waiting for him in front of him.
The robotic superhero immediately scanned the surrounding area for hidden cameras or nanobots.
He knew that Batman possessed nanobot technology, so of course he would take precautions against it.
Sure enough.
The mechanical superman sneered, quickly moved to the side of a tree, smashed half of the tree trunk with his bare hands, stuck dozens of nanobots that were trying to escape into the ground, and then crushed them all into powder with the thin metal tentacles that extended from his fingers in his palm.
To his relief, Steppenwolf didn't actually rush at him, which was somewhat comforting.
I underestimated your intelligence.
"I'm actually Cyborg Superman, not Batman." Despite feeling that this self-introduction was stupid and incredibly strange, Cyborg Superman quickly confirmed with Steppenwolf, "You've been fooled by Batman. He changed my appearance using unknown methods, and perhaps he changed himself as well, in order to achieve his goal of substituting one thing for another."
The mechanical superhero stared into Steppenwolf's eyes: "You've got it wrong, Steppenwolf, you idiot. You're blocking my way here while the Batman disguised as me has already made his way away."
The mechanical superhero's head raced: "We'll split up to chase Batman, making sure no one finds out we're in cahoots. Wonder Woman is also a problem. If you spot her, focus on engaging her first and don't let her interfere with my fight with Batman."
The robotic superhero said, "I have prepared enough troops. As long as Batman goes on a killing spree, I can..."
"Oh, I see. I understand now."
Then he heard Steppenwolf say, "Okay, let's go chase Batman together."
As he spoke, he slowly approached the mechanical superhero.
"Of course!" said the mechanical superhero. "Batman is incredibly cunning. I still don't understand how he created this illusion on me."
He tugged at his body and turned around: "I need to clean up more cameras around here. Once we're completely separated, it won't be necessary anymore. Damn it, I have to make the damage to these cameras look like an accident..."
The mechanical superhero sighed again and said:
"Fortunately, you weren't that stupid and weren't fooled by Batman."
With his back to the Steppenwolf, he said, "Let's go, we have to..."
Steppenwolf silently pulled out his axe and began to ponder where to strike.
