Chapter 18 A Little Surprise for Bain
Chapter 18 A Little Surprise for Bain
Chapter 18 A Little Surprise for Bain
This is one of Batcaves, one of dozens of Batman's bases in Gotham City, with such facilities scattered throughout the city.
The Mad Hatter sat listlessly in his cage.
He has been in this oval, oversized, transparent capsule cell for more than 16 hours.
After escaping from Arkham Prison, he originally planned to hold a huge tea party to recruit more capable subordinates and then start causing trouble.
As a result, just as he had gathered all his men and those cannon fodder who were mentally controlled by the hat, he was wiped out in one fell swoop by the deadly shooter hired by Chen Tao at a high salary. All his men were picked up by police cars, and he himself moved into the luxury private room in the Bat Cave.
Fortunately, unlike his henchmen who were shot and maimed by bullets that came from nowhere, Mad Hatter surrendered to the police quickly enough and escaped unharmed.
And naturally, he was handed over to Batman again. As soon as he arrived at the Batcave, he got a beating from Robin, who even asked him, "What are you plotting?"
That's a complete injustice! He did have some schemes, but he was caught before he could carry them out. Why are you beating me for something I didn't do?
Boom!
The lights in the hall were turned on, and the Mad Hatter closed his eyes. It took a while for his eyes to adjust to the suddenly bright environment.
With a mechanical sound, the transparent door in front of him opened, and Batman appeared before him.
"..."
Chen Tao pondered how to get the other party to speak.
He certainly didn't let Deathshot capture the Mad Hatter for no reason; he captured him because, according to the comic book storyline, the Mad Hatter currently possessed...
Bang!
Just as Chen Tao was thinking, Robin jumped up and punched the Mad Hatter in the face, then kicked him to the ground and pulled out a crowbar from somewhere and started beating him wildly.
!!!
"Will you tell or not?"
"Awoooooo!"
"To tell or not to tell—"
boom! boom! boom!
The metal crowbar struck the Mad Hatter's head like a drum, producing a dull, rhythmic sound.
Chen Tao swallowed hard, startled. Robin really is a psychopath! How did Batman raise his kids? This is pure violence!
The pounding was incessant, its rhythm even intertwining with the Mad Hatter's screams. Reality is definitely not some all-ages comic; even Robin isn't a quiet, handsome man when it comes to interrogation.
"Help! I really have nothing to say!"
The more the Mad Hatter screamed, the more excited Tim seemed to become.
Fifteen-year-old Robin swung the crowbar like he was having an epileptic fit, a twisted smile on his face, drool dripping from his mouth:
"You filthy, disgusting, scumbag! I'm going to break every single bone in your body, then crush them piece by piece to flush down the toilet!"
However, this may cause toilet blockage.
Good heavens, what am I thinking?
The Mad Hatter crawled on the ground in pain, snot and tears streaming down his face. He collapsed at Chen Tao's feet and grabbed his cloak.
"Stop hitting me, please!"
Tim gave him a hard whack on the backside from behind, and Chen Tao saw that part of the crowbar seemed to have been damaged due to the excessive force... um...
The Mad Hatter let out a scream that reached its peak.
Damn it, this crowbar is useless.
"Good heavens! What do you want me to say?" The Mad Hatter was going crazy.
"!"
Chen Tao then suddenly realized that he hadn't asked the other person a question yet.
Stop!
The Mad Hatter trembled like a terrified hamster. He wished he could flatten himself and stick to the wall of the oversized, oval-shaped, transparent capsule cell behind him.
Chen Tao organized his thoughts.
"Taichi, don't be afraid. Being afraid won't help."
Chen Tao wanted to slap himself as soon as he said the words.
"Although Robin looks a bit fierce, he is actually very kind-hearted."
Tim slammed the crowbar down on the ground with a loud clang, startling the Mad Hatter so much that he covered his head and collapsed to the ground.
"..."
Chen Tao gave up on comforting the other person.
He got straight to the point:
"You captured the red bird that Bane's henchman, the 'Birdman,' used to monitor you, and then you planted a tracking device on it. You know Bane's location, Teach."
"Originally, you gathered enough people and sent out invitations to many people, intending to play another of your Alice in Wonderland-like perverted games, and then find some combat-capable guy, give him Bane's address, and use him to test who Bane really is."
Chen Tao recounted the plot of the comic while carefully observing the expression on the other person's face.
To be honest, he wasn't really sure how far the Mad Hatter had progressed, nor was he entirely certain whether the Mad Hatter had already obtained Bane's location. But the Mad Hatter's current reaction was practically an admission of guilt.
It's safe now; he definitely knows Bain's whereabouts.
"Teach, my patience is running out."
Robin raised the crowbar again.
45 minute later.
"Gordon, you guys need to hurry, preferably before Bane reacts..."
"...Of course we need to use heavy firepower! As long as we hold him off and evacuate the residents, then we should bombard the area with artillery...Does the National Guard need more...?"
"That's right... force Bane to engage you in direct combat, be careful of his sudden attack... if he attacks the officers..."
beep--
Chen Tao hung up the phone.
When Bane finds himself blocked by tanks, the expression on his cold, stern face will surely be quite something.
"May God forgive you, as you forgive others. Man comes from dust and returns to dust... May your soul rest in heaven, and may your toil be extinguished..."
The Angel of Death's funeral was very brief. Chen Tao and Robin, leaning on their black umbrellas, stood at one end of the cemetery, watching the priests and Alfred work together to dig a large enough pit to fit the coffin.
In the original timeline, the Angel of Death took over for Batman after Bane broke his spine, successfully defeating Bane. However, as time passed, he gradually degenerated into a villain, and was eventually defeated by the returning Batman.
But now, this possible future has completely disappeared as the mounds of earth for the graves have been built higher and higher.
Ultimately, it's the butterfly effect caused by the time traveler. The time traveler obviously wouldn't be like the real Batman, relentlessly hunting criminals day and night. This gave the Angel of Death his opportunity. He admirably upheld the Bat-family's fine tradition of "ignoring Batman's orders," and secretly wore Batman's suit—
Then he was cornered by Bane. The headless corpse was sent back to Wayne Manor the next day. This future villain, who spanned the entire Batman: Knightfall saga, died just four hours after Chen Tao's time travel, before he had even fully developed.
Chen Tao didn't feel particularly sorry. The Angel of Death had been brainwashed by the cult "Saint Dumas" for a long time, so his mind was already somewhat unstable; otherwise, he wouldn't have turned evil and fallen so quickly. Tim, on the other hand, was very sad; he and Jean Paul were very close friends.
He laid flowers at Paul's grave and then said, "Bruce, I have something to tell you."
