Chapter 139 Black Steals the Country
Chapter 139 Black Steals the Country
Chapter 139 Black Steals the Country
"What? What are you testing?"
"Testing if the other guy is mudface, Jason," Bane explained to him. "Listen, we have a traitor among us."
Upon hearing this, Jason's heart immediately tried to skip a beat, but his brain immediately stopped this instinctive action.
Jason felt a sense of peace.
He was absolutely certain that Bain must have used some interrogation techniques at that moment, and if his heart had been beating even slightly abnormally, he might have immediately revealed his true colors in front of Bain.
Fortunately, he had been trained by Batman, which gave him sufficient resistance to such interrogation techniques.
"Who is it?"
He answered Bane's questions as usual, silently pondering. Besides him, had Batman sent someone else to infiltrate this small anti-Superman/Batman alliance they had just formed?
"I was talking about Mudface." Bane repeated what he had said before, and for some reason, Jason felt that there was a deep resentment in the other's tone.
Bane paused, then explained, "A villain with shapeshifting abilities; Batman used him to trick me before."
The mention of Mudface made Bain's expression darken.
He subconsciously recalled the phone calls he had made, each one the same: first, a scream from his men, then Mudface's obnoxious voice: "Heave-ho, heave-ho, heave-ho~ This is Mudface, Batman's favorite Robin!"
He muttered to himself, "That mud-faced man actually claims to be Robin, Batman's favorite. How utterly ridiculous."
Then he felt Jason in front of him suddenly freeze, his heart almost stopping.
"Hmm? What's wrong?"
He looked at the other person, puzzled.
Bain admitted that he had indeed been observing Jason... but it didn't seem like the reaction a spy would have.
Even if the other party had something to hide, their heart should have raced when they mentioned the traitor earlier.
Then he heard the other person burst into laughter:
"Pfft! Hahahaha! A villain like Mudman dares to call himself Batman's favorite Robin? That's hilarious!"
Oh, so the heart rate change was just because you were amused?
Bain lowered his head again. Although he didn't actually find it funny, Jason seemed to have been tickled and was thoroughly amused by the joke.
Jason laughed while swallowing his anger.
Bain chuckled in response, "It's quite ironic, really. Those lunatics in the mental hospital are already mentally unstable."
Then he connected a water hose and sprayed several more vials of water at Louis Lane. Next, he drew a vial of Louis's blood for testing. After several procedures, he finally confirmed that the other person was a real flesh-and-blood being, and not a clay figure in disguise.
Bain breathed a sigh of relief. He turned to face Louis Lane, who was still whimpering.
He originally wanted to remove the rag from Louis's mouth and say a few words to him, but it was obvious that doing so would attract Superman, so he gave up on that idea.
He waved his hand and continued:
"Next, we should find a place for Miss Lane to stay for a couple of days. She is our hope in the fight against Batman and Superman."
Bain said, "I'm ready—"
"I already have a place, boss." Then Bane heard Jason say to him, "I have a secret base that can serve as a prison, filled with people loyal to me, just right."
Bain watched as the other person walked to the monitor standing nearby and pressed a button as if they had been prepared. Immediately afterwards, Bain saw a small room that looked like it was in a mine. As the video zoomed out, he saw construction workers wearing work hats all around.
"This place, which can be used as a prison, is hidden under a lead mine, which will block Superman's view perfectly."
Bain silently swallowed the plan he had prepared earlier and continued listening to Jason say, "This location is very well hidden; it's placed in one of the hidden chambers within the extensive network of underground mining tunnels."
Look, this is Jason.
Bain grew increasingly satisfied with the other person. He always provided a solution or follow-up plan immediately after completing a task, so you didn't need to worry about anything.
Who wouldn't like such a mature deputy?
So Bain crossed his arms without hesitation and said:
"Do as you say."
A few minutes later.
After Jason left, Bane worked on the computer for a while longer, where the internal surveillance footage of the Daily Planet was clearly displayed.
Bain manipulated the camera to freeze and zoom in, and Clark Kent's grief-stricken face appeared in the surveillance camera's view.
Bain carefully observed the expression on the other person's face. His judgment was absolutely correct; Clark Kent had no ability to hide his emotions in front of him. Even aliens express emotions in the same way as humans.
It now appears that Jason wasn't lying to him; he really did bring Louis Lane back.
Bane silently crossed Jason off the list of possible suspects who might have been replaced by the Mudman.
"Waaaaah..."
Meanwhile, Jason drove for several hours, bringing Louise Lane to a lead mine on the outskirts of the metropolis. Louise Lane, who had been gagged and unable to utter a word from the start, energetically kicked the driver's seat the entire way from the back seat, giving Jason a headache.
When they finally arrived, Jason was even more relieved than Louis.
He led Louis into the mine.
The lighting inside was rather dim, but the female reporter quickly adapted to this gray world, which actually calmed her down.
Even in unfamiliar surroundings, her journalistic instincts drove her to observe everything that could be turned into news, and to identify any weaknesses that might allow her to escape.
But then, Louis Lane saw all the miners working in the mine suddenly stop what they were doing.
A dead silence.
Louis stared blankly at everything before him.
"Hello, I'm Barton Shelby," a miner stepped forward and introduced himself, "I'm from Mudface."
Then, to Louise's horrified gaze, she saw a young miner who had seemed quite normal before suddenly collapse into a large lump of mud right in front of the two of them. Before she could say anything more, he instantly transformed into her, Louise Ryan's, appearance.
She watched as the imposter walked up to her, casually tossing his hair back: "I'm Superman's favorite woman!"
vomit!
What is that?
The fact that the other person was saying such nauseating things right in front of him made Louis feel like vomiting.
The rag was pulled from Louise Lane's mouth, and the ropes binding her were cut in two by Red Hood.
Louis Lane crossed his arms. "So, does anyone want to explain what's going on here?"
……
……
……
The war between the small Middle Eastern country of Tansleba and Israel continues to escalate, but at least here in Tansleba's capital, the sweet fruits of peace are still being enjoyed.
"You might not believe it, but I used to love superheroes."
Blake, with his purple hair, and his team hovered in the air, quietly observing the cloudless sky.
The other three members were either lying down or sitting, supported by pale blue telekinesis.
"But masks are for hiding, capes are for showing off, and Superman was the first and the best, but he's outdated now and can't keep up with the times."
The whistling sound gradually came from the horizon, like the song of death.
Then came the loud, piercing alarm, deafeningly loud.
"Mad scientists, idiots in their underwear, bank robbers, Superman is only busy with these things."
Blake watched as countless bombers flew in from the horizon, and the conflict between the two countries escalated until it finally reached the point of attacking each other's capitals.
"But leave the work of maintaining the world to us... let's start with Tansleba."
"Waaaaaaahh ...
The piercing sirens blared, and the entire city was in chaos. A father with his child cried out in despair, "Why—this city is full of civilians! Why are they bombing us?"
There were so many people that the entire street was packed with them. The father couldn't squeeze out and could only watch helplessly as several fighter jets in the distance drew closer and closer.
Blake did not make a move.
His eyes flashed with a bluish-black light, and in his perception, a figure approaching at supersonic speed was gradually getting closer to the planes.
A smile crept across Blake's face as he muttered to himself, "Yes, yes, always Superman."
"We have entered Tansleba's airspace. The capital is now within our strike range. Requesting permission to launch ballistic missiles!"
"All buildings are targets; raze the entire city to the ground!"
"Long live Leser!"
The pilot pressed the launch button. But what he received was not a missile being launched.
With a deafening roar, the pilot watched in disbelief as a steel body stood before him, tearing the front half of his plane off.
The missile, with a single punch, exploded, its red and blue shadows blurring into afterimages, rapidly destroying the Israeli air force's ability to resist with speeds beyond human reaction.
The wings were as thin as paper. The pilot, who was ejected, was grabbed by Superman and put on the ground instantly. Then, he immediately took off again.
Before everyone's eyes, one plane after another was reduced to wreckage and placed on the ground by Superman in just a few seconds. The pilots were all rolling on the ground, bewildered and helpless.
Just a few minutes later, it was all over, terrifyingly easy. The God with the human face hovered in the air, patting the dust off his hands as if effortlessly wiping away airborne dust.
"The war ends today, with no loss of life."
People looked up, staring blankly as the deity announced the end of everything.
Silence.
With a "plop," one of the pilots who had been placed on the ground urinated.
"Oh, buddy, you've really opened our eyes, haven't you?"
Blake and his team floated out, and he slowly clapped his hands.
"Have I been insulted? What should I do next? Superman Gandhi?"
The hat-wielder stepped forward and pulled a fishing net from inside his hat. He then made a gesture of offering it up.
This is the net that Superman uses to catch criminals in the Superman cartoon.
Superman slapped him away.
"My next step is to have the leaders of Tansleba and Israel hold peace talks in the neutral zone."
"Don't you think it's getting a little too late?"
Superman squinted his eyes.
"Blake, it's never too late for peace. I just want you to understand that."
"No, no, no, I mean it's a bit too late because the leaders of Tansleba and Lesotho are all dead now."
"What did you say?"
"You know what I mean. The opposite of life is death."
Superman suddenly turned around, and his extraordinary vision allowed him to instantly cross mountains and rivers and see the scene of corpses strewn across the land.
"You already..."
"Their security is like paper in front of us, Superman. Just a tiny cup of venom is enough to send these evil devils to hell."
We should have done that a long time ago. I can read their minds; I have access to their tiny, precious state secrets. The bottom line is, these bastards' war will only escalate unless their rule is crushed to pieces—no offense intended.
Blake suddenly glanced to the side, behind a hidden camera, where Amanda Waller slammed his fist on the table in a fit of rage: "Bastard!"
"No, you didn't do that..." Superman's eyes glazed over.
"The only reasonable thing to do is to overthrow everything and start over. So congratulations, children, your leaders are all dead. Peaceful rule and authoritarianism—this country now belongs to the British Alliance!"
With a crash, Amanda Waller kicked over the coffee table in front of him in anger.
She slammed the microphone in front of her face and roared, "Blake, I gave you the legal right to kill, not the right to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries—"
Blake threw away the headphones, a smile playing on his lips.
This was the perfect time. Thanks to Amanda Waller's tireless promotion and support, Black and his Allied forces had gained widespread recognition worldwide. The prestige that Waller had painstakingly cultivated for him to rival Superman had now become his best asset in taking over the country.
Superman looked down and saw the jubilant crowd below, which had coalesced into a sea of people.
Everyone was calling out the name of the Heroic Alliance.
Blake spread his arms wide towards the crowd: "This country now belongs to the Allied Powers!"
"No!" Superman soared into the air: "You are not qualified to rule—"
Black's eyes gleamed with a bluish-black light: "Come on, Superman."
"In less than a week, people will forget these countries exist. But they will never forget the day Superman declared war on their heroes. Write down your wishes and bid farewell to the world; everything is set in stone!"
Superman clenched his fist, and a battle immediately broke out.

「9分56,9分57,9分58……」
Chen Tao counted down in his mind, waiting until the very last second...
The veins on his forehead bulged as he did his utmost to maintain the existence of the high-speed bullet transformation.
[Warning, warning, the protection period has far exceeded the limit—]
Chen Tao gritted his teeth and persevered, then finally deactivated his transformation with a groan.
He was breathing heavily, trying to relieve the sharp, stabbing pain in his head.
This is not without significance; it at least proves that the Alfred Protocol's protection of him is not mandatory, and perhaps it could be if he were willing to pay the price…
Chen Tao pondered silently.
The murder of the Joker in front of Jason last time did not trigger a new Batman. During this time, he has been training himself as much as possible to control the high-speed bullets and the Bizarro bat, and now he has been able to successfully extend these transformations for longer.
Chen Tao leaned against the wall; he was still a little dizzy, but he would feel better soon.
But just then, Alfred came to tell him, "Master Bruce, Lucius is here to see you."
