A moment later, he seemed to have planned his route. He stubbed out his cigarette, threw it on the ground, and turned to walk towards the stairwell on one side.
Behind him came extremely faint, almost inaudible footsteps.
They eventually caught up.
This so-called "paradise on earth" was vastly different from what they had imagined.
In their imagination, it should be a secluded mountain cave, rich in spiritual energy, or a fairyland shrouded in clouds and mist.
But who could have imagined that what awaited them was such a strange world made of steel, glass and cold concrete, filled with noise and death!
Everything around them, from the buildings to the forms of the monsters, was beyond their comprehension.
In this environment, facing this completely unfamiliar world, following that utterly despicable boy who seems to know everything about this place... seems to be the only option.
The sound of their footsteps echoed in the stairwell, along with the increasingly frequent and frantic sounds of impact and faint screams from downstairs.
With each floor you go up, the air seems to grow colder, and the dappled light and shadow on the walls appear particularly eerie.
Wang Meng suddenly stopped at the corner of the second floor. He didn't turn around, but just turned his head and glanced at the two tense women behind him out of the corner of his eye.
Where did you find that wooden gun?
His voice was flat, as if he were casually asking about a trivial matter.
This question startled Qin Hongmian, who was immersed in a mixture of shame, indignation, and contemplation.
Her mind was in a state of chaos due to the series of shocks that had just occurred to her, and she was unable to react for a moment to the sudden and highly abrupt question from the other party.
She subconsciously tried to recall.
When they first entered this blessed land, they did indeed appear in... what kind of place?
It was a vast flat area with many white lines drawn on the ground that she couldn't understand.
Next to it was another strange building, equally huge but with almost no windows. A wooden sign hung at the entrance, with several characters she didn't recognize written on it, resembling scribbles.
She had no idea how to describe that place.
Those words, such as "playground" or "gymnasium," did not exist in her mind at all.
After struggling for a while, she finally managed to squeeze out a stiff reply through gritted teeth.
"It was from an open... square."
Wang Meng listened, his face expressionless, but a knowing glint flashed in his eyes.
He seemed to immediately understand what she was saying and why she could only answer in that way.
He then said with a smile, "That big building is called a gymnasium, and the square is called a playground. They're places for training!"
Just as Wang Meng stepped onto the third-floor platform, a series of chaotic and rapid new footsteps suddenly came from downstairs!
Those weren't the heavy, dragging steps of zombies, but rather the desperate, panicked sprint of the living!
A dozen or so figures were desperately rushing up the stairs, followed closely by a huge, roaring horde of zombies, even larger than before!
“Ahhh!
Help!"
"Run!
quick! "
Through the narrow gap in the middle of the stairs, Wang Meng glanced down and took in the hellish chase scene below.
His face showed no superfluous expression, nor the slightest hesitation.
Almost as soon as he saw the group of students, he turned around abruptly and pushed open the heavy fire door next to the platform, which was marked with red lettering.
"Go this way!"
He gave a low shout and stepped inside first.
In this critical moment, Qin Hongmian and the girl in black veil had no time to think. Their survival instincts made them instinctively and closely follow behind Wang Meng, rushing into the doorway.
However, along with them rushed in, there were several students who had run the fastest and had already reached the third floor.
Those who ran slower had tears streaming down their faces, looking utterly devastated. They stumbled and staggered as they ran inside, crying out in a language Qin Hongmian couldn't understand at all.
"Suke!"
"いやだ! Die にたくない!"
(Help! No!)
(I don't want to die!)
An unfamiliar language, mixed with the most primal fear.
"Clang, bang!"
With a heavy bang, Wang Meng slammed the fire door shut.
And, completely resist it with your body.
Outside the door, the sound of countless zombies pounding against the door panel was like hail in a storm, dense and frantic, and the entire heavy iron door was trembling violently.
The narrow fire escape was suddenly packed with people.
The air was thick with dust, the stench of sweat, and the rapid breathing of survivors.
Wang Meng remained calm and composed, merely observing the group of uninvited guests who had suddenly barged in.
Qin Hongmian and her apprentice subconsciously leaned closer to him, warily eyeing the men and women dressed in the same school uniform.
Two men and two women barged in.
There are four people in total!
They all appear to be students from this college.
The boy in the lead had short brown hair.
There was still a trace of fear in his eyes, but even more so a sense of responsibility that he was forcing himself to stay upright.
The chubby, bespectacled boy next to him was clutching a nail gun—modified from duct tape and wooden boards and looking quite powerful—and was panting heavily, still shaken.
Even in their disheveled state, the two girls could not hide their youthful and captivating beauty.
One of them had waist-length orange-brown hair, which was now tied into a high, energetic ponytail.
Her white short-sleeved shirt was ripped open, revealing a corner of her pink, lace-trimmed bra and a small patch of smooth, delicate skin on her waist.
Her pleated skirt was also badly ripped, with a diagonal tear extending from the outside of her thigh to the edge, making her long, shapely legs, encased in white over-the-knee stockings, appear and disappear as she ran, exuding a youthful, unadorned sensuality.
The other girl had striking, smooth, long pink hair, which was carefully styled into two long pigtails hanging down her back.
She wore frameless glasses, and even in her panic, her eyes behind the lenses revealed an innate arrogance and intelligence.
Her figure wasn't as voluptuous as the brown-haired girl's, but rather a more slender and delicate bony beauty.
The sweat-soaked shirt clung to her shapely body, outlining the girl's slender waist and her small but beautifully shaped breasts.
In this brief standoff, the brown-haired girl, who had just gained her footing, turned bloodshot the moment she heard the screams of her classmates who were locked out and still struggling frantically outside.
She turned her head sharply and immediately pointed her finger directly at Wang Meng, the only one in the room who was calm and composed, as if he were detached from the situation!
Why not save them?
Her voice was somewhat shrill with excitement, carrying an unquestionable, naive sense of justice.
You're clearly standing right here!
Why don't you lend them a hand?
They're right behind us!
So close!
She pointed at Wang Meng, her face flushed red with anger, her chest heaving violently. Her saintly, judgmental demeanor made her appear both ridiculous and pathetic.
Although I couldn't understand her words, her body language said it all.
Wang Meng raised an eyebrow slightly, and a cold, undisguised sneer curled at the corner of his mouth.
He didn't even bother to look at her, only glancing at her with an expression as if she were an idiot.
The brown-haired girl was even more furious at his dismissive attitude.
She screamed and charged at Wang Meng without hesitation, raising her hand to slap him across the face!
"You bastard!"
"Korea!"
The short-haired boy exclaimed in surprise, trying to stop them, but it was too late.
However, her seemingly fierce slap was easily caught in mid-air by a large, iron-like hand.
Wang Meng didn't even change his posture; he simply raised his hand casually and firmly grasped her wrist.
That overwhelming force made her feel as if her hand bones were about to be crushed, and the intense pain turned her pretty face deathly pale instantly.
"ah……!
Let go!
it hurts! "
"Noisy!"
Wang Meng finally looked at her directly, his eyes filled with no pity or tenderness, only icy coldness and impatience.
He grabbed the brown-haired girl roughly in front of him, as if she were a clueless little chick.
"filial piety!"
The brown-haired girl screamed in panic.
"Let her go!"
Upon seeing this, the short-haired boy's blood boiled, and with a roar, he charged towards Wang Meng, throwing a punch.
Wang Meng didn't even look at him, and simply lifted his foot casually.
"boom!"
