Chapter 1404: A Unique Little Courtyard
Chapter 1404: A Unique Little Courtyard
The teacher Brought two people around a small pavilion. Once past a little lotus pond, they reached the yard, where they found the garden concealed a unique view behind.
On the left were crisp bamboo, each particularly tall and straight, their color exceptionally vibrant now, all thanks to the teacher’s meticulous care, making the bamboo appear quite elegant and beautiful.
On the right was a rockery, adorned here and there with lanterns and small green plants, adding an antique atmosphere.
Atop the rockery, several birds, unnameable, kept chirping, adding life to the scene.
Living in such a classical and profound environment, the teacher seemed especially comfortable, stretching lazily and leading the two to a stone table.
"Please sit down," said the teacher, starting to brew tea.
The pair of tea pets began nodding cutely, and as the teacher poured hot water over them, their colors became more vivid.
They looked extremely adorable!
"Earlier, I called you several times, but you didn’t come back to see me. Why do you have time now?"
The teacher spoke, placing two cups and serving tea to the two people.
The tea was sweet upon entrance, with a unique taste, refreshing and invigorating. The teacher indeed had a distinct living atmosphere, unlike others. Arriving here, life’s pace seemed to slow down.
Xiao Keyi felt a bit embarrassed. Although the teacher had invited her before, she was genuinely busy with the company, coupled with Ye Jingli constantly making a fuss at home, hence she hadn’t had time to visit.
"Alright, I was just joking with you, and you took it seriously. Don’t you know me? I like joking, how could I actually care whether you come or not?"
"Whether you come or not, you’re still my student. Besides, can’t the teacher keep up with you through news and papers? How could I fuss with little girl like you?"
Seeing that Xiao Keyi appeared a bit sad, the teacher quickly said.
Upon hearing it was a joke, Xiao Keyi smiled, her heart lightened.
"Of course I know the teacher wouldn’t mind, but my heart feels uneasy, thinking we’re still in the same city and I haven’t visited you."
"But don’t worry, teacher, I’ll have plenty of time to visit you in the future."
Seeing that the topic was about to linger on, the teacher realized he had talked too much, planting it in the little girl’s heart and she took his words seriously.
So he looked towards Xu Ke beside Xiao Keyi, intending to change the subject; otherwise, this little girl might continue to hold onto it, possibly affecting their relationship.
During university, this little girl had never been with anyone of the opposite gender. Even during necessary exchanges with male classmates, her demeanor wasn’t as gentle as now; the young man before seemed somewhat uncommon.
Noticing the teacher constantly scrutinizing him, Xu Ke felt a bit uneasy but greeted first: "Teacher!"
Just like assessing his son-in-law, Bo teacher looked him over for a long time before finally turning to Xiao Keyi and said: "I remember many have pursued you over the years, yet you never brought anyone to me; why bring him today? This person..."
The more the thought intensifies, the more it seems fishy, especially seeing the girl blushing.
Xiao Keyi’s face turned red but she bravely held Xu Ke’s hand with a bright smile: "Teacher, this is my boyfriend. I brought him here to meet you today. You wouldn’t mind, right?"
Although Bo had already suspected their special relationship, hearing it was still quite surprising.
In just a few years, the little girl who once played and made a fuss in front of him now had a boyfriend.
Moreover, this boyfriend was indeed handsome, though unclear what caught her fancy.
After a brief moment of shock, he took a sip of tea to calm himself.
"Indeed you ought to find a boyfriend now."
The teacher fixed his gaze on Xu Ke, assessing him thoroughly: "As far as I can see, apart from being handsome, I haven’t discerned any other merit. My apologies."
"Though she’s my student, I’ve always cherished her like my daughter. Should you dare mistreat her, I’d be the first to deal with you."
Knowing about this matter, the teacher immediately set his stance, firmly standing by the daughter’s side. Hearing the teacher’s words, Xiao Keyi felt touched. The teacher, throughout his life childless, poured his care into his students; always genuinely wishing well for any decent student.
Naturally, Xu Ke could tell that, though the person before him was constantly scrutinizing him, and saying seemingly stern words, the genuine concern was unmistakable.
"Rest assured, I’ll be good to her. Besides, between us, naturally, there’s mutual affection. Regarding Yiyi, feel free to entrust her to me."
Though the teacher wasn’t Xiao Keyi’s biological father, he exuded a warmth people couldn’t help but approach, feeling particularly comfortable.
Unlike Xiao Zhen, whose proximity often elicited frowns, Xu Ke showed a deterring aura all over, constantly nitpicking over little things.
With Xu Ke’s assurance, the teacher felt more at ease; although the boy couldn’t match Xiao Keyi’s background, considering his well treatment towards her, background was but a fleeting cloud; for two together, such matters were hardly worth mentioning.
Once the couple is happy, everything else would gradually fall into place, wouldn’t it?
"Never expected to see you find someone during my lifetime; now one wish has been fulfilled. But both of you, what does your grandfather think of this? According to reason, your granddad can be rather stubborn. Despite always wearing a smile, once it involves fundamental issues, he’s utterly unyielding."
Though teacher had been with Changnan Film Academy, he understood the old chap thoroughly. That old man, known for his vigorous ways in his younger days, was reputed across Changnan City. During setbacks, he would come here for a cup of tea and chat about poetry.
Once feeling better, he’d leave without any mercy; yet despite constantly voicing complaints, the teacher deeply understood and even empathized with the old friend. Because of the Xiao Group, with its head being so busy, resulting in a considerable loss of weight.
