Chapter 546 - 547 No Matter How Much is Said, Still Must Die [6/7 Please Subscribe]
A warship from the Country of Law approached the isolated island. It was a vessel equipped with hyper-modern weaponry. On the deck of the lead ship stood Les, the Vice Marshal of the Iron Tower Country of Law.
Standing atop the state-of-the-art warship, the soldiers held their heads high and puffed out their chests, brimming with pride. They believed their warship was the best in the world. The vessel utilized a propulsion system that absorbed Spiritual Energy, converting it into flames for thrust. The intense heat from the flames warped the very air.
"We are soldiers from the Iron Tower Country of Law, here to welcome Marshal Giles!" Les announced into a megaphone, his voice resonating across the island.
The bats knew that surrendering now would only lead to death. Their only hope lay with the soldiers from the Iron Tower Country of Law. One by one, they took to the air, flying toward the warship and communicating with Les via telepathy.
"General Les, save us."
"We are Giles’s subordinates! Someone murdered Marshal Giles, and now they’re trying to kill us too!" the bats cried out. Fearing Les might refuse to help, they added, "If you can help us escape this predicament, we will be at your command in the future."
"We know the secret to turning humans into vampires."
"That’s right! The vampire Blood Clan is undying and indestructible."
"General Les, we beg you, please save us."
The bats knew Les would surely be tempted.
"We implore you, General, to take action and eliminate this arrogant intruder on the soil of our Country of Law!"
"We implore you, General, to take action and eliminate this arrogant intruder on the soil of our Country of Law!"
"We implore you, General, to take action and eliminate this arrogant intruder on the soil of our Country of Law!"
The bats screeched frantically, projecting their words directly into Les’s mind.
Les’s heart pounded with excitement. In truth, when the Monarch of Law sent me to invite Giles to be the marshal, I was far from pleased. The military of the Country of Law has always been under my command! But now, with the revival of the world’s Spiritual Energy and the scientists’ sudden breakthroughs, it seems a third world war is imminent. I was planning to distinguish myself as marshal in the coming war and leave a glorious mark on the history books! And yet, the Monarch of Law ordered me to invite Giles! How could I possibly be happy about that? But now Giles is dead, and these bats are promising to teach me the secret of the Blood Clan if I help them.
Les was overjoyed and immediately gave his word. "Rest assured. No matter who it is, I will protect you."
"Is that so?"
Wu Tian’s voice suddenly echoed in Les’s mind. Les froze. Why does that voice sound so familiar?
As a career soldier, Les had been trained from a young age. He never forgot a voice, whether he had heard it in person or on television.
Wait... I remember this voice... It’s Wu Tian’s? Les’s mind raced as he quickly identified the speaker.
Suddenly, his fair face went deathly pale. A long time ago, the Martial God, Wu Tian, set foot in Fusang, and no one could stop him. He was cold-blooded and merciless! Upon his arrival in Fusang, devastation followed in his wake; not a single blade of grass was left standing. The Land of Fusang was utterly annihilated by him! Countless lives were tragically lost, and the land was plunged into suffering. At that time, I was watching the live broadcast. I still remember how the Fusang army was like a swarm of ants before him, crushed without effort. The broadcast showed Fusang’s soldiers and its many famed generals in the throes of utter despair. I could see the look of hopelessness on their faces all too clearly. Wu Tian’s methods are seared into my memory. He was terrifying, ruthless! His abilities were inhuman. His battle in Fusang shook the very Void and silenced the nations of the world. It was a battle I will never forget. Wu Tian’s power is etched into my very soul. From that day on, Wu Tian became a thorn in the side of every nation, a devil in their hearts!
Now, realizing Wu Tian was responsible for the chaos on the island, Les’s mind went blank. He was completely stunned.
It’s him... It’s him... How could it possibly be him?
But with the revival of Spiritual Energy, the nations now possess hyper-modern technology. Our Iron Tower Country alone commands the power of steel. Cars can transform into humanoid robots! Warships can also transform into giant battle robots! This thought gave Les a surge of confidence.
As a soldier, should I fear death? No! I refuse!
Putting himself on equal footing with Wu Tian, Les began to speak. "I will say a few words to you in the language of the Dragon Country. I trust you can hear me."
"Brother Wu, our strengths are now comparable, so I will take the liberty of addressing you as such. I have a few things to say. You and I are from the Dragon Country and the Country of Law, respectively. We should mind our own business. Yet, you have murdered innocents on our land! Very well, in the interest of international friendship, I will let it slide! Brother Wu, please take your leave!"
Les sighed, acting as if he were showing great mercy by allowing Wu Tian to depart.
In his Yang City home in the Dragon Country, Wu Tian’s Spiritual Sense perceived Les and heard his words. He let out a cold laugh, a chilling glint in his eyes.
Did I give you permission to call me ’Brother Wu’?
Wu Tian was enraged.
Back on the warship off the coast of the island, Les was taken aback by the words in his head. An intense pain suddenly gripped him, and he couldn’t tell if it was his bones, his flesh, or his nerves that were screaming in agony. He only knew the torment was bone-deep and utterly unbearable. It felt as if his head were about to explode.
It was only then that Les truly understood that Wu Tian could kill him with effortless ease.
What good is hyper-modern technology? I haven’t even laid eyes on the man himself. What use is any of it?
Right there on the deck of the warship, Les collapsed to his knees. As a soldier, his pride was unyielding when he felt wronged, but he also knew when to be pragmatic.
"Mr. Wu Tian, Lord Martial God, I was out of line just now," he pleaded. "But you can’t kill me! I’m not like that idiot Giles. I hold a crucial position in the Iron Tower Country’s military. If you kill me, our two countries will go to war! Now that the nations possess hyper-modern technology, a conflict between us could be the spark that ignites World War Three! Mr. Wu Tian, surely you don’t want to be branded a sinner for all eternity?"
Gasping, Les forced out the words. He had to believe that, for the sake of everyone on Earth, Wu Tian wouldn’t harm him now. Surely, he wouldn’t kill him, right? After all, throughout history, what leader would ever want to be known as an eternal sinner?
However, in the next moment, Wu Tian’s voice, tinged with cold amusement, echoed again in Les’s mind.
"No matter what you say, you’re still going to die!"
