Chapter 368: Kate’s Shock
Michael was clueless about the storm that was already brewing in the capital, related to him. Maybe, he knew, but he didn’t care?
The next day after Kate had arrived from the training camp, she arrived at the Villa very early in the morning.
Already expecting her arrival, Michael had woken up early today. He had gone to the kitchen, and prepared a sumptuous breakfast, while focusing on types of foods that he had noticed that Kate liked.
The reason behind this was because he wanted to make up for the error that he had done the previous day. Even though he was sure that Kate had taken an energy bar, food was kind of crucial.
When Kate found the table full of food, she was stunned. In reality, she had not expected something like this at all.
Regardless, just a few seconds later, her eyes lit up as she went and sat at the dining table. She really had missed this food during the time that she was at the training camp.
Even though the food that was provided at the training camp was quite good, it definitely could not much the quality of the food that was prepared by either Michael or Adrian.
So, at the training camp, for this over 1 month, she had really suffered when it came to her tastes. She was left with no other choice but to eat to fill her empty stomach.
Seeing her eagerness, Michael simply smiled as he watched her devouring the food. She was not modest at all, as she ate as if she was starving.
It was only when she realized that her stomach could not take any more food, that she stopped. But even then, she looked quite reluctant, obviously dissatisfied by the fact that you could not eat more.
"Don’t worry, since you have already left the training camp, you will no longer have to face the restrictions regarding food.
You can always eat this type of food on a daily basis. And, since you will be together with Lina, she will be preparing the food for you, she has the skills." Michael shook his head as he said, smiling slightly.
Kate nodded, though, she really wanted to continue eating. Then, she was just about to say something when suddenly, she seemed to remember something.
She gazed at Michael and asked, shock in her eyes, "You say, she can cook this well? Let me ask, is the Santos family so adept at cooking? Maybe, does your family run restaurants or something like that? Maybe, your family has generations of chefs?"
Michael simply shook his head as he said, "Not really. Her ability to be able to cook food of that level is basically a skill that she has learned. It is the same for me, and Adrian as well."
"Then, just how did you learn? From my knowledge, it seems that the best chefs in the world, they cannot match you in terms of skills, when it comes to cooking.
But even then, the skills that they currently possess, they had obtained them after years of grinding. So, how do you even manage to possess skills of such a level, at your age?" Kate asked, confused and curious.
Michael looked directly into her eyes as he responded, "By now, you should know that this world, it doesn’t operate based on logic.
To ordinary people, something like this is obviously impossible. But for you, don’t you think that it is very possible?"
Kate seemed to fall into a moment of contemplation as she thought about what Michael had said. Then, she realized, if she had not been exposed to the world related to the mutants, she would have thought that something like this was impossible.
After all, despite his age, Michael possessed incredible skills. It was not just about his chef skills, but combat skills, driving skills and a few other skills that she had only heard about them through Raymond, her cousin.
But now, after she had been introduced to this other side of the world, she realized, this world was not a simple as she had been seeing it before.
From the information that she had obtained from the training camp, she understood that some of the abilities that people awakened were not always combat-related.
A good example of that was the abilities possessed by those from the other two branches of NEXUS, the support and intelligence branches.
Almost all the members of those branches did not possess combat related abilities. Well, some of their abilities could be used in a fight, but that was not the primary role.
Possibly, Michael had an ability that allowed him to be able to learn things at fast speed. At least, that was what she thought.
Since Michael was capable of granting her an ability that she wanted, then, it would not be impossible for him to be able to get one that he wanted.
So, as she nodded her head, she decided not to ask more about this matter. Instead, with her eyes bright, she asked, "So, have you planned on where we are going to? This is going to be our first date. I heard that you guys are normally the ones that take us out?"
Ever since she entered the villa, Michael realized that Kate had changed. That was mostly in terms of how she was acting, basically, her personality had almost shifted, making her look like a different person.
Michael believed that this might be related to the fact that she had taken revenge, something that had been bothering her for years.
Even though she had not completely eliminated all those that were involved in this matter, the main mastermind had already been dealt with. As for the others, Michael did not help her out, but he believed that she would go looking for them.
She might not be very strong as compared to some of the strongest mutants, but as compared to ordinary humans, it would not be much of a problem for her to be able to deal with them.
"I have already decided. But before that, I have made a preparation for you. If you would want, you can always come over to train." Michael nodded at her words, as he stood up, heading towards the exit of the villa.
Kate immediately followed behind him, curious about the preparations that Michael had mentioned. As for the issue concerning the training, even though she had already began making her own arrangements, if Michael had made arrangements for her, she would definitely follow his arrangements.
At least, from her point of view, Michael probably knew more about her ability as compared to anyone else. And, he might be able to find a way of enhancing her growth speed.
The two of them got out of the villa, before they began heading towards the location of villa number 4. Out of curiosity, Kate wanted to ask where they were going, only to be stunned the moment that Michael headed into the courtyard of villa number four.
"Hey, don’t tell me that you bought this? And, did you convert an entire villa, that many people within the city dream of living in, into something of a gym?" Kate asked in a surprised voice.
"Yeah, I bought it yesterday after you left. Then, I had to make some arrangements, and it was quickly converted into something that will allow you to be able to train effectively." Michael did not deny it.
Kate was left speechless at that. Nevertheless, she still followed behind him, and the two of them reached the entrance of the villa.
"Brace yourself." Michael stated as in the next moment, he twisted the door’s handle, after swiping the access card, opening the door.
Kate was just about to ask Michael to clear her confusion when suddenly, the scene behind the door left her completely bowled over.
She stood stunned on the spot, her mouth hanging open, as a shocked expression was plastered on her face.
Michael had already anticipated such a reaction from Kate. After all, the transition from seeing the exterior of the villa, and the interior, it was just illogical.
If this was the first time that he was seeing this, and he was not the one who had customized the training chamber, he would have definitely been shocked as well.
Michael did not say anything, just patiently waited with a smile, as a few seconds later, Kate regained her senses.
She gazed into the futuristic room, before gazing outside the villa, just to confirm that this was not an entrance into another world.
But no matter how much she scrutinized, she realized that she could not figure anything out.
At this moment, just as she was still trying to understand what was going on here, Michael spoke up.
He said, "This is something that I prepared. It is using a very advanced technology that is yet to be released by Sky Technologies.
This is a training facility that can definitely be able to keep up with you and the speed of your growth. In here, you can train as much as you want, push yourself to the limit, fully exploring the limits of your ability."
As Kate was still shocked, Michael took her hand, before pulling her into the villa. Even as she entered, she continuously looked around, failing to believe that such an advanced training room could exist.
At this point, she was wondering, could it be that she had suddenly entered a science fiction world? If not for the fact that Michael was still holding her hand, she might have thought that she was dreaming.
"As you can see, most of the things here, are not what you would expect in a normal gym. But, this is what matches a mutant with an ability like yours." Michael stated, as he led Kate towards one of the sections, for her to try them out.
